Lesson 1

Have a look at how those pages are built so you will better understand how you can use them to customize your calendar. The first step is now to add your favorite photo to your first page.

Download the pages for January and February.

All the calendars are made where Sunday is the first day of the week (column 1),  but if you need a calendar that starts with Monday, on the first column, download the months here, separately. You will just have to replace the month layer on the template with the ones for "Monday first".

The video uses PSP2018 but you should be able to do everything whatever version you have. All the templates are compatible with earlier versions too. You will also notice that the dates in the calendar of the video are different. That is because I was creating a calendar for a different year. Don't worry, the downloaded files should match the year 2025.

The main layers of the pages you downloaded include

  • the dates
  • lines for writing text
  • groups with a black and white mask with white layers which are placeholders for where you will add your photos
  • a background layer that you will customize later

From your photo, copy it (Ctrl-C), and activate the layer called PHOTO HERE, and paste as a new layer (Ctrl-L or Ctrl-V). You will likely want to move the photo into the area to make it visible, so activate the Pick tool and using the center handle, move it up. if you need to resize the photo, make sure to use a corner handle, while the Mode of the tool is set to Scale.

Now, you can save it as a .pspimage file so you can come back to it tomorrow and edit it further. Save it with a different name so you can reuse the templates for other calendar projects.

You can now repeat the same steps for both pages that you already downloaded with different photos, and then, wait until tomorrow.

Here is one of my pages with the photo included (I worked on the May page because those Northern Lights happened in May 2024).

If you have any questions, come and post them in the forum.

Remember that the page is not going to be completed yet, so don't worry. You can tell us what you did if you want, but since the page is not complete yet, you won't have anything to show yet. It will come with the next lessons.
