  1. I agree that the whole fake news and fake images is worrying. I’ve no idea how we’ll resolve it but hopefully we will find a way. AI training will have been done on information available to anyone – like what we post on this forum (images and text). If it was available freely online and could be found in a search engine database then it will probably have been used. The Atlantic Review discovered that some AIs had also been trained on pirated books. As these sites exist and can be freely accessed it was inevitable. I’m not saying it was right but if the information is out there and available then I can understand what happened. The problem I think lies with our lawmakers and their lack of ability to regulate and enforce anything to do with the web. I wish that would change because there is so much that is not okay online.
  2. "Did you color the individual letters white they were still vectors or afterward? I am curious." Hi Carole, I colored the individual letters whilst using the Artistic Text Tool. No conversion involved.
  3. I love that robin image and miss your layouts on campus.
  4. I'm not sure the line is that blurred. You said “you take existing images and modify them with your tools, your skills, your knowledge. You can say "I did this". You have no permission to ask as everything is either yours or used with permission (ex: Unsplash). You can take credit for the end result. If you use an image, paper or element created by someone else then your end result is not a creation 100% of your making. You may have permission to use them but you didn’t make them. And when we use software built by others to achieve what we want we are relying on the work of countless other people. For example, the coding required to draw even a straight line from one point to another is quite complex. Yet in a graphics package you have the illusion that you are creating the line, the vector object or whatever but what did you actually do? You used your idea in combination with the work of many others. AI doesn’t create something for you without your input. Ask 100 people to create an image of any specific thing (cake, dog, people) using AI and you will get 100 different images. Each will be determined by the prompt used and any alterations then made either with the AI or by the individual in PSP or some other software. If you can say “I did this” when using graphics software why can’t you say the same when using AI? Just to be clear I think it is important to state that one has used AI because we are still so conflicted about AI but surely you can say “I did this” because the image would not have existed without your interaction with the AI.
  5. I created this project in Affinity Photo. The font is Hexalios. I used AI to generate a png, with a transparent background, of a cat’s face. The colouring was done following the steps in the video.
  6. Out of curiosity I got Google to search for the image and the results were a lot of similar images BUT I couldn't find one that was a 'real' image they all seemed to be AI. AI is everywhere and it is already difficult to separate out actual images from AI generated ones - in the Architecture challenge I wanted actual photos of Stonehenge but the majority of images available were AI generated and not 'real'. How will anyone know what is an actual image and an AI generated one? Unless you are familiar with the place/being being depicted you simply won't know. Strange times. I respect your decision to not use AI but I am embracing it. I have taken time to explore and understand how it works and the different ways it is being used simply because it is now everywhere and in virtually all the systems we use and it is only going to spread further and deeper. In respect of images and scrapbooking it makes life so much easier - If I want to, I can generate a pattern or image in seconds or ask an AI to come up with some ideas for me.
  7. The image was created using AI. The font is Roadstone. The snowflake a png from Freepik. I used the techniques shown in the video to create the ribbon and paper. The project was created in Affinity Photo.
  8. Created in Affinity. All the elements are present. The image and haiku were created with AI. The papers and star clusters are from a kit by Jessica Dunn called Land of Nod.
  9. I = Incised (a pattern that is produced by cutting or etching into the material)
  10. G = Gazebo
  11. D = Dutch gable (A gable whose sides have a shape made up of one or more curves and has a pediment at the top.)
  12. Z = Z-bar flashing (a type of bent metal flashing used to prevent water intrusion)
  13. T = Turret
  14. P = Pelmet
  15. L = Lintel
  16. I = Iconic
  17. C = Cornice
  18. I’m fascinated by the fragments of architecture we have going back many thousands of years. This layout focuses on a single site, Stonehenge, to represent the prehistoric era. The photos are from heritagecalling.com. The paper is from Rachel Martin’s Lydia kit. Solar system png is from freepik.
  19. X = Xsect (on drawings, abbreviation for cross section)
  20. O = Ovolo (A moulding whose edge forms a convex quarter-circle or quarter-ellipse)
  21. E = Elevation
  22. I used a paper and elements from a kit called Lullaby by Art Addicts. The quote is from ‘The Ballad of The Hobbit’ - a song written by Maury Laws (music) and Jules Bass (lyric) and performed by Glenn Yarbrough. It was the theme song for the 1977 film adaptation of The Hobbit.
  23. Day 7: Created in Affinity. I kept it very simple. The polka dots were made as small as possible and I added a blur.
  24. Day 6: Created in Affinity. Once again I enjoyed making the mask but not so much the paper – only because I couldn’t get it like I wanted.
  25. Day 5: Created in Affinity. Loved making the mask and whilst I was on a roll thought I’d make a plaid and use it.
