  1. Thank you, Jeni! I also like her smile in the photos. In the first layout, she was not happy because her cousin had not arrived yet. šŸ˜„ She was two, and her cousin was three at the time. I have more pictures of her smiling afterwards, but I thought that photo told a story of a brief moment of her frustration. I like Lynn Grieveson's style and have a few of her freebies, kits/collections. Wednesday is when The LilyPad site offers 50% off in some selected kits, and I take advantage of it if there's something I like very much.
  2. Day 2 - Affinity Again, I used papers and elements from the kit "Tastes Like Summer" by Lynn Grieveson. I added a date stamp that was created in PSP using Cassel's DateStamp#8 script. Fonts. Caneletter Script and Canastra.
  3. This is so touching, Julie. And so, so true. Your page expressed it in a very sensitive way. I hope your words and art help to ease his pain.
  4. Happy Birthday, Carole! šŸ™‚ Sending you the best birthday wishes on this special day! Long life to you and the Campus & Creation Cassel!
  5. Day 1 – Affinity I used papers and one element from the kit ā€œTastes_like_Summerā€ by Lynn Grieveson. I tweaked the color of the Edge Border using HSL Layer Adjustment (Hue-Saturation-Luminosity). I created the page, and only almost at the end did I notice a mistake I had made from the start. So, I decided to start from scratch since the layout was not complicated. At a certain point, I wondered if copying the layers from one document to another would be possible, as it does in PSP. I tried it, and it was even better! I copied the elements and the texts, and they were placed in the same spots I had in the first layout, rather than in the center of the page as they do in PSP. Font: Caneletter Script & Clumsy Blink
  6. Julie, this is a lovely layout! The small details complement the stars of the page, which for me are always the photos.
  7. Corrie, Before I forget, I wish you a safe trip to and from your destination and a wonderful time with your family!
  8. I didn’t know of Hardanger embroidery and don’t recall having seen it. Perhaps I didn’t recognize the style or name if I did see it. But, after your comment, I had to look it up. So, from English Wikipedia. Hardanger embroidery or "HardangersĆøm" is a form of embroidery traditionally worked with white thread on white even-weave linen or cloth, using counted thread and drawn thread work techniques. It is sometimes called whitework embroidery. Hardanger embroidery gets its name from the district of Hardanger in western Norway, where it was known simply as hvitsĆøm (whitework). German Wikipedia Sie hat ihren Namen aus der norwegischen Hardangerregion, wo sie hauptsƤchlich für Trachtenblusen und Schürzen angewandt wurde. Die Technik ist orientalischen Ursprungs. Google Translation: It takes its name from the Norwegian Hardanger region, where it was primarily used for traditional blouses and aprons. The technique has oriental origins. Now, if I see it, I'll recognize it! šŸ™‚
  9. My mother-in-law says that if people want to talk, they will talk no matter what. True. šŸ˜„
  10. What a beautiful work, Corrie! They sure don't deserve to be hidden in a drawer.
  11. I love your work, Susan, and the stories that come with it. They are so interesting! I am sure you are a great storyteller. šŸ™‚
  12. This looks so nice, Sharla. It's a good idea to go through the Bootcamp lessons again, and I should do this too, but I have too many things on my plate already. I'll wait for the next one. šŸ™‚
  13. I watched a 6-minute video from Affinity Designer, and I should have viewed this one before creating the Mandala, as it explains more about the Pen and Node Tools. So, after this, I could tweak the Mandala as shown in the video.
  14. Wow, that was a fantastic deal, Carole! I have to say, I would have second thoughts about giving my credit card number over the phone, but luckily it was legitimate, and you were the one who made the call anyway. Happy prints! 😊
  15. I'm in, too! I'll work with Affinity to keep learning the program.
  16. Thank you, Dawn! 😊 Affinity Designer has many interesting features and is worth looking at. Also, the programs' interfaces come in handy when creating something. If one app doesn’t have the functionality to do something, we can switch to the other one with just a click. Many people share their knowledge on YouTube, which is good for beginners like us. And we are lucky to have Carole, who teaches everything in detail. Best wishes!
  17. And I’m sure, Corrie, you have even less time now that your trip is approaching. There are many things to consider: the weather, what clothes I should take… and how not to overpack. For sure, lots of preparations.
  18. It’s fantastic how Affinity has simplified the ways we work and create things. Of course, there’s a learning curve, but this is the same with every new program. The first time, one might feel overwhelmed, but slowly, we get there. I don’t have enough time to learn everything I want, but …one day at a time. 😊
  19. I am also trying to learn Affinity Designer. I came across a YouTube video by Serif Affinity Designer that shows how to create a Mandala using any of the drawing tools: the Pen, Pencil, or Vector Brush Tools. She demonstrated it using the Pen Tool, Symbols, etc. It may sound complicated, but it’s not, although it isn't so well explained like Ally from Affinity Revolution. By slowing down the video speed, turning on the subtitles, and going back and forth, I could achieve something—not there yet, but at least something. However, there is a long way ahead of me. Edit: Now I noticed that the guidelines are showing... See, not there yet! šŸ˜„
  20. I can already see how nice your page will be. I watched the replay of the Masterclass and liked it very much—so creative, and so many possibilities to use it.
  21. Thank you, Sue, for pointing out where to find the technique (No Kit-2 Masterclass).
  22. There is no need to be embarrassed, Julie. We are humans and forget things. šŸ˜„ There are too many things to learn. As if all the PSP techniques were not enough, now we have PSE, Affinity...🤣 But it's fun.
  23. This technique fits perfectly with the layout, Susan! I recall that Marie-Claire posted it, and everyone, including myself, loved it. I intended to try it, but time passed, and it never happened, like so many other things I want to try. Now, I can’t remember how it's done. šŸ˜„
  24. I did too, Julie! Carole has an Alpha-Maker Script that offers the option for an irregular outline. I have used the Freebie and the script in several layouts.
  25. It was the same for me, Susan. I was so happy with what I had learned from the ā€œStart Hereā€ tutorials that I wanted to learn more. I need to take a look at Modules 6 and 7, as they didn’t exist when I took the course.
