  1. We had more storms this morning with another power outage. The loud booms and rumbles scare the cats, who may need therapy if there isn't a break soon. Here are the Day 3 exercises.
  2. Here are the Day 2 exercises. We have been hit by storms for the last two days, knocking out power for 5-6 hours at a time. More are forecast for this evening. In addition to storm cleanup, a substation shorted out because of a snake. It's not unusual around here, and it is a fairly quick fix. But it took someone off other jobs to take care of it. Echoing other folks, I am learning a lot.
  3. I'm not so good at "eyeballing it," as Rachel Ray would say, so I worked with guides to help. BTW - Thank you, Carole, for the lesson on guides! I often created nodes that were adjacent to each other. For the most part, it worked in my favor to refine the shape. Is there a way to merge them when everything is in place? I seem to remember it being mentioned in one of the masterclasses.
  4. Ann - do the animals seem well cared for? We had a similar zoo in Huntsville that was mercifully shut down. I'm only 1 1/2 hours from there so I'll put that on my list of potential day trips.
  5. We probably did play some arrangement of it. In addition to our solo work, we did a lot of organ/piano duos and piano duets. As soon as we sat down, our differences (and there were many!), disappeared.
  6. Susan put a song in my head with her layout. All of the clipart is from Pixabay.
  7. I had to tap Lynda to get her attention and maintain eye contact. In her last year, her eyesight was also failing. When she was a pup, she could hear a chip dropping from the other end of the house and be there to scarf it up before it hit the ground. In her elder years, it would drop; I would wake her up, lead her to the kitchen, and point. I was always rewarded for my effort with a big sloppy kiss.
  8. The card is in memory of my mom. My dog, Lynda, never let me get away with anything. She started going deaf when she was seven.
  9. My nephew found an isolated island somewhere in Florida where he and The Boys were able to camp on the beach. In the 30 years that I lived in Miami, I never saw a beach that wasn't filled with people.
  10. I am woefully behind. We had a loss in the family last week. I started to skip the rest of the workshop but remembered that quick pages showcase photos in a nice layout with minimal time.
  11. My youngest niece and her dad are featured in the main page, while my oldest nephew is enjoying the beach.
  12. My nieces. My oldest niece and her son are not in the group photo. She lives in another state and wasn't able to join us. I have recreated the photo at each gathering for the past few years. The papers and elements come from various kits, bundles, and collections.
  13. Doesn't everyone hear their cats talk? Mine are constantly reminding me that their ancestors were revered as gods and I should act accordingly.
  14. Although I could make a case for the spelling, I'll 'fess up. I rely way too much on spell check, which does not work inside PSP. And to think I was a spelling bee finalist in grade school. My teachers would be appalled!
  15. Carole - I didn't make the connection with the Scraplift Challenge. It's amazing to see the continuity between generations. Mother finally adjusted to the cats, and they rewarded her acquiescence with abounding love. The fonts for this project are Cute Cat and Stay at Home, both from Creative Fabrica.
  16. These are pictures of my mom with babies from three generations. She loves babies, and they all have returned the love as they got older. Now she is with me in home hospice. She can still muster a smile when I mention the name of the great-grandkids. The title font is FAMILY from Creative Fabrica. I added an inner bevel to help better define the silhouette. The script is Ernestone, also from Creative Fabrica. The papers and elements are from a kit, Inner Beauty, by Annie C. Digitals. P.S. The black and white picture is me. I wear my hair differently these days.
  17. It looks like it is posted in the gallery.
  18. I think God gets mad if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. - Alice Walker (paraphrased) I can't walk or scroll by the color purple without stopping to admire it.
  19. This was inspired by an article in The Washington Post about the healing benefits of the songs of birds. The article featured sound clips of the birds in the layout - meadowlark, bobolink, and woodpecker. The glitters were created using Carole's script Glitters-C. The papers and elements are from a kit, Celebrations, by Whispey D'Zines. The fonts are Spring and Ernestone, both from Creative Fabrica. I forgot to note that in the previous project, I used Carole's Smoothener script to eliminate the jagged pixels appearing in a selection's expansion. It did an amazing job.
  20. Carole - Lynda slept on a 4" memory foam bed under the window that was large enough to also accommodate Rudy and River. I think Rudy had to crawl over her to get to a spot where he could look out.
  21. The papers are from Marisa Lerin. The font is The Cat from Creative Fabrica, and the silhouette is from Jessica Dunn at Digital Scrapbook. The little guy in the window is Rudy. He watches when I leave and pops his head up when he hears me pull into the driveway. A side story ... In Lynda's younger days, she would get very excited when I came home. Even though she was deaf in her last few years, she would still poke her head up in the window and meet me at the door. I had no idea how she did it. I finally realized Rudy would wake her to tell her I was home. He was a devoted companion and protector.
