  1. The picture is the front of our house. I tried Carole's tutorial on creating a spooky look. It's hard to see, but there is a ghost in the window. I experimented with having him on the porch, but that got tooooo spooky. The clipart and font (Butcherman) are from Creative Fabrica.
  2. I'm playing catch-up. My setup is basic. I may play with colors and themes, but I always come back to basics. I use a couple of bound scripts a lot, but nothing special after that. I'm pretty plain with my sandwiches, too. However, I do like a nice tablecloth.
  3. My mother wanted oak trees in the front yard. However, realizing that time was growing increasingly short, I talked her into two fast-growing maple trees. In their third year, these rich colors confirmed that fall was at hand. During my time living on the North Shore of Massachusettes, color exploded all around. Although there is no comparison, these beautiful leaves say, "I'm home."
  4. Day 6 Downtown Athens is like going back in time. One of the cornerstones of nostalgia is U.G. White Mercantile, a general store where shoppers can get housewares, hardware, and candy by the pound. Prices have increased since its founding in 1917, but the old charm remains.
  5. I lived in Miami for almost 30 years. My first hurricane was Andrew, a CAT 5. After that, we learned quickly that any storm can wreak havoc, no matter the number.
  6. Day 5 Design Seeds is a great resource for me. For those of us who are color challenged, it's a great help to find a different shade of beige and muted colors that go with it.
  7. Day 4 The little farm stand is only a few minutes away. Canning and freezing were my mother's hobbies, so we were there several times a week to see what had come in from the fields. The owner even called us when she knew my mother wanted something specific.
  8. My cover features the historic Limestone County Courthouse in Athens, Alabama. It was built in 1919 in a Neoclassical style with Palladian influences. I have no idea what that means. They had me "historic." Located in the heart of town, it is the anchor for Athens Square, a lively entertainment district hosting seasonal activities that attract hundreds of residents from Athens and surrounding areas.
  9. Carmen Sandiego picked up souvenirs from her recent adventure.
  10. Day 6. No more Carmen Sandiego adventures - for now. Stumbling on these photos triggered some fun memories. My dad would plot elaborate routes from Alabama to Minnesota, but Gooseberry Falls was always on the list. The elephant picture reminded me of the many times when I felt inadequate in my quest to be The Favorite Uncle but fell short. They always had a good time, which was what it was all about.
  11. These Carmen adventures are only five episodes. They have others, but I steered clear. It's too addictive. I forgot to include the clues that got us from Dubai to Sydney. She wanted to know if a platypus is a mammal. She was headed to Earth's smallest continent. A suspicious person left in a speedboat flying a flag with white stars.
  12. Day 5. The thief has been apprehended, and the jewels safely returned. Good work gumshoes! And thus ends another chapter of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. All of the pictures came from Pixabay. The Carmen and Tigress images came from DeviantArt. Red, white, and blue are the official colors of Australia. However, green and gold are the adopted colors for their sports teams.
  13. Day 3. Carmen stopped in Rio. I'm closing in, but she is wiley.
  14. I found it on Google Earth, which is very interesting. It's also handy since I can simply open another window and Google the answers!
  15. I had all versions of the Carmen Sandiego games. And I never missed the live game show. It was silly, but the actors played it straight without taking themselves too seriously.
  16. Day 2. The elusive Carmen Sandiego slipped away to Tokyo. Argh! Where will she go next, and can this gumshoe find her and return the Crown Jewels? The flight path on the map is outdated. Russia closed its airspace and the current route is over the North Pole. The change adds at least two hours to a flight that is already twelve hours long.
  17. Day 1. I got a bad case of "scrapbookers block."
  18. Day 7 The idea of the fringe on the B was to be an homage to the opening curtain of a Broadway show. But, it looks more like my hair "style (?)" in the 70s.
  19. Day 6 "Come on, Barbie, let's go party!" The flower uses pink pearls from Creation Cassel. The outline for the logo is the pink LED light also from the store. The font is Barbie Medium which was used for the logo from the 90s. The new logo doesn't have an official font, although Dollie Script is a close approximation. Of course, the font color is Barbie pink (#e94196). And just in case you really need more Barbie projects, the Barbie font is available for the Cricut as well as ALL of the logos going back to 1959. And now I'm done. No more pink for today.
  20. Lesson 4. It went smoothly this time. Taking a break helped.
  21. I hit a snag on Day 4. One cup came out OK. On the second, the cutout part has me stymied. When I do "CTRL-A," the nodes are highlighted, but the selection box does not appear. If I continue, "Paste" is not an option, only "Paste as New Selection Layer," which puts it on a separate layer. I have started from scratch several times, hoping to figure out where I went wrong. I ran into the same problem with the first example but was able to get it to work after a little trial and error. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I did differently.
