Glad to see so many registrants and participants! @Cristina Since it is not your first go around, it might make it easier for you, even if you use Affinity. @Jacques I am looking forward to all the photos you will share. I remember that event reported on the news and it was impressive. @Jen Brown As a sewer myself, I will really enjoy looking at your pages. @Anja Pelzer At first, I thought it would be a Canadian beaver! I bet that blue line will change color later in the workshop. @Anne Lamp That is such a colorful cover! @Rene Marker As you are comfortable with PSP, these pages will be very quick to make (and probably just as simple with Affinity). @Art Kuiper That is a great theme to showcase! @Ann Seeber Looking forward to seeing his photos! @Lynda DiGregor Maybe you can use one as a front cover, and the other as a back cover! @Donna Sillia We will be travelling with you! @Corrie Kinkel We will be visiting the park without too much walking. That suits me well! I have often seen a "special edition" seal on various magazines. You could make something with a symmetric shape and lots of points. @Clarine That will be a great magazine. I think you offset the photo to match the frame, instead of the edge of the page. That explains the grey edge. You could also move the title upward a bit so it does not overlap that frame. @Gerry Landreth Your title is a bit hard to read, but it does fit the theme if it is RANDOM! 🙂 I would like to create another album myself. I am not sure which photos I would use as I don't have many on a single theme. Since those templates are so fast to use, I should be able to catch up, even if I start later. See you tomorrow!

That is such a creative way to use that script!

This challenge has had great success in the past so we can continue to have it on a regular basis, don’t you think? Just like those “some assembly required” kits that you can buy for a shelf, a chair, or a picnic table, I am including a 3600×3600 pixels canvas with some shapes. You HAVE to use the shapes in the size and proportions they are. You can move them, rotate them, flip them, and rearrange the layering if you want but you cannot resize them or replace them. You need to use ALL the pieces but you can add more if you want. So it is like all the pieces to build a DIY shelf: you cannot change the size of the pieces but you can use them creatively. Obviously, you will want to recolor them or replace them with papers, photos, etc. We just need to be able to recognize the initial shapes. Here is a preview of the shapes involved. There will be a lot of layering involved to use all the pieces. Click here to download the layered template. I made it into a psd file so you can use it in Affinity too. Post your projects in the gallery.

The idea of one photo a week was quite popular in 2024, and it encouraged participants to take photos and showcase them without having to create a whole layout for them. In 2025, I will offer you a little twist on this. Again, the idea is only to showcase a single photo at a time. You can showcase them as a flashcard, emphasizing the letter (you can use these free cards as a basis to create your own). Of course, if you want a different format, you can use a polaroid frame, a slide, or a playing card (like Susan was doing in 2024). Choose the format you want, and keep it throughout the year. But just make sure to emphasize the first letter! Every 2 weeks, you will be asked to take a picture of something, at home (or around your home) that starts with a specific letter of the alphabet. The goal is just to be on the lookout for ANYTHING that can be photographed. You can stage the object however you want, or just take a picture of it in its natural environment. For example, you can showcase your favorite Mug, or your Pillow, or your Fireplace. You can practice your photography skills if you want, but you can just capture things as they are. Let's just encourage each other. This is a no-pressure thread. And if you skip a letter or two, you can always come back. You know your alphabet so you can easily catch up, whenever you need to. Let's continue with the letter D. It could be your working Desk, a heirloom Doll, your junk Drawer, or even an old rusty Dustpan. What will you showcase?

When I was able to use Photoshop, I could edit the actions (minimally) by stopping it at some points or skipping some steps. PSE does not give that option at all. I also found that some steps can't be executed in PSE, so the end result might be different. So, since I can run actions in PSE, I'll use it as needed, but for me, it is just to analyze how they work, so I can then try something similar in a script in PSP.

I got their email about it and I put it on my to-do list.

Let's continue this challenge for another year. We might be the ones taking pictures but we are not the feature of our layouts, so let's change that since we ARE important and have lots to say. Every month or so, the layout will be about YOU, and a prompt will be given. If you have taken the Story Week Challenge, you will find some similarities but it won't be the same. For the February layout, tell us about your work/career. Did you have one or multiple jobs? Even if you were a homemaker for many years, did you have any kind of job? Share something about it. If you have photos, it would be nice to see some too! Remember that if you want to create pages for previous prompts, those threads will stay open. There is no right or wrong order to share about YOU.

The video is here (and at the bottom of that blog post too):

I have a detailed tutorial here: https://scrapbookcampus.com/2016/07/text-on-path-in-paintshop-pro/ Just create a path smaller than the button and follow the tutorial. Let us know how it goes.

Have you ever created an album that tells the story of your life, one chapter at a time? For 2025, I’m inviting you to embark on a year-long creative challenge to document your personal timeline in a unique and meaningful way. We’re calling it the Timeline Album Challenge! The idea is simple: divide your life into 12 periods (the length of each depends on your age) and create one scrapbook page for each. Whether you include photos, memories, or simply words that describe those times, it’s up to you! By the end of the year, you’ll have a complete album that reflects your journey. For example, let's assume you are 72 years old (it just makes it easier to calculate): 0-6 years old: you can talk about your birth place, your first tooth, your first day of school 7-12 years old: you can remember some birthday parties, friends, places you visited 13-18 years old: those teen years! what were you doing, your first crush, your high school years 19-24 years old: maybe your dates, or wedding (if it happened in that time) 25-30 years old: maybe when you moved town, when your kids were born, when you purchased your first house And so on. You get the picture. Here’s how it works: One page every month: Start with your earliest memories or your childhood, and work your way to the present. You can also document specific milestones, achievements, challenges, etc. You can pick and choose any element to document. No pressure: Share your pages with us as you create them. There’s no strict commitment, and you can always catch up later if life gets busy. Make it yours: Add photos if you have them, or create pages without photos by focusing on stories, quotes, or embellishments that symbolize those moments in time. Include what was around you: seeing how some world events (or local ones) can relate to us can be interesting. What there a new fashion trend? What were the newest inventions? Any famous people that you might have heard of (or met) during that time period? This is your story to tell. Whether you want to focus on key milestones, favorite memories, or even everyday moments, it’s all about capturing what makes your timeline unique. Time for the second period.

Did you experience an exceptional service? Did you see someone really go our of their way to offer you a service? Let's share. It is so much more fun to read about GREAT services!

I am really unsure how to replicate this. My only suggestion would be to do a reset. Can you do that?
-
Melissa and I were in the same "startup" forum before we each launched our sites. The forum was called "Foolish University". That is where I "met" her. Whenever someone asks me a question related to PSE, that is where I point them.

Our next workshop will soon start. Are you in? You will create various pages in a "magazine" format, with little to no decorative elements. That will generate pages with a "clean" look and save you time in choosing and arranging embellishments. The workshop will start on February 17th, so there is plenty of time for you to find your photos and invite friends to join. And this workshop will be FREE for everyone, so spread the word. (although every registrant will get some templates to work with, as a bonus, DIAMOND members will get more) Did you happen to find this thread before the registration page, by chance? Here it is. To post in this forum, you need to be logged in. To be logged in, you need an account. Registering for the challenge did NOT automatically create an account for you, so if you are new to the Campus, you will need to Register, to create your account. To make it simpler, use the same email address you used to register for the challenge (otherwise, the system will think you have a twin and you will get emails in double). The tutorials will be available for the duration of the workshop, plus one week. Of course, the DIAMOND members will keep permanent access and will receive extra templates. There will be tutorials for PaintShop Pro and Affinity Photo users. If you have access to both programs, you can choose which tutorial you will follow. They will be clearly identified.

I also have the disk but the activation is somehow registered somewhere and I have no access to it. Even if I uninstall everything and reinstall with the disk, the activation is still counted. I had no way out to use my PAID version (and it was expensive!).

I also had to get PSE2024. I have CS5, that I purchased years ago. I used it only to run actions (I have a large collection). However, in September, when I upgraded my computer, the tech guy had to copy my C drive to a more compact one to fit in the smaller tower. Unfortunately, Adobe considered that copy/paste as an additional activation. Since I didn't know it would, I never knew I had to "deactivate" the current license, before copying/pasting to the new drive. I contacted support and they keep suggesting that I deactivate the "old installation", which is impossible. After pushing and pushing, they offered me a special discounted price of $29.99/month with 6 months free. For a program I might use 2-3 times a year, that is far from a good deal. When I found out that PSE can run actions (although not 100% compatible), it was a no-brainer: I needed something to run those actions when needed. I am certainly not going to start learning or teaching PSE though. I only needed it for those actions! (and I might look at those styles again too).

I had this one ready to go! In 1988, I was working out of town and needed to fill up twice a week. In December, at the gas station, they had three draws you could enter, for each purchase: one for a big turkey, one for a super large Christmas stocking filled with toys, and one for a grandfather clock (battery operated). I would enter all three draws, but the turkey would have been a bit big for just my husband and I. For the stocking filled with toys, as I was pregnant for our first child, all of those toys were not age-appropriate for a new baby. I had commented to the attendee that the clock was likely on my wishlist. That Christmas, we travelled to Toronto, to visit my husband's family. We stayed there for about a week. When we came back, my husband went over to that gas station to buy something and the attendee mentioned that I had won the clock. They had tried to reach us, but we didn't have cell phones back then, and I guess we didn't have answering service on our landline phone, so they could not reach us! We still have the same clock since 1988. We had to replace the mechanism once, and refinish the middle part that was slightly damaged. The fake pendulum has long been gone, especially after having some curious kids over the years.

I finally found my B-word. In 2020, my daughter was pregnant and since everything was mostly shut down (including my work), I did some sewing. I have a LOT of fabric left over from my years of sewing for my kids and for the rhythmic gymnastics club. We didn't know the gender of the baby so I thought I could do some bears with what I had. In the end, I made two bears: one was beige and brown, using fleece, but the other used some not-so-stretchy metallic lycra with some pink fleece for the accent. After Xavier was born, I gave him the beige bear (which is slightly larger), and kept the pink shiny one here for when he visits. I actually had to work at replicating the color because no matter where I would take the picture, the bear looked blue!

he theme for February is WEDDING. Weddings are timeless events filled with love, celebration, and cherished memories. Whether it's your own wedding, a friend's special day, or a family gathering, there are bound to be photos or stories worth sharing. You might have some beautiful snapshots of the couple, the venue, the décor, or even funny or touching moments. And if you don’t have personal photos, you can always tell a story and complement it with stock images or symbolic elements like rings, flowers, or a wedding cake. Remember that you can also share older layouts you already made. You don't have to create a brand new one! Let's go! Post your project in the gallery.

It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in February be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save it in .jpg format before posting it (if you are creating a double page, you can resize it to 1000 pixels in width if you don't want to post the pages separately). Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyway). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyway.

In February, our monthly theme is WEDDING. Weddings are such a special event, full of traditions, celebrations, and unforgettable moments. From the attire to the ceremony, the food, and the festivities, there are so many things to think about. Let's find words starting with each letter of the alphabet that relate to anything about a wedding. This could be anything from the venue to the vows, dresses, flowers, or even the music played. I’m sure we’ll come up with a lot of great ideas! If we get stuck on one letter, we can skip it after 24 hours, sound good? Let's get started!

Oh... CorelDRAW is something i only use when I need to convert .eps files, and even though I got a "private" lesson from Roger Wambolt, and he gave me a copy of his book, I never did anything with it. I think I will have to concentrate on Affinity for now.

In Affinity, if you set the Snapping, you would get the "fleeting" guides when you place the papers in the center. However, I find that by using the Place command for paper is not that accurate when using those guides (I might shake a tiny bit), and for papers, i would have to rasterize it before doing any trimming (which is more frequent with papers than elements). So, typically, I will PLACE elements, and I will Copy/Paste papers. But that is just me.
