September 2021 - BINGO game

As we have not had a BINGO in a while, so I thought we could revisit this activity as it gives a lot of flexibility in what you want to use in your next project.

 

I am providing you a card with 24 elements that can be included in a layout. You can make a bingo by using any element in a straight line that would make a bingo, whether it is a horizontal line, a vertical line or a diagonal line. That means that you have to include 5 (or only 4 if you use the FREE in the center) elements in your layout. Of course, you can have more than one bingo if you want to create more than one layout.

 

Once you post your layout, tell us what 4-5 elements from the Bingo card you are using (it is just easier for everyone to check on you! ;) )

 

So, here is your card, for September 2021.

 

 

If you are a DIAMOND member and want to create those elements, you are more than welcome. If you are not, or if you don't want to do anything from scratch, you can also use ready-made elements. There is no rule for or against that.

 

The only rule: have fun and be creative!

I don't understand how to play this game?  I have not done it before and I can't figure it out.  My experience with Bingo is under the B2 and then they call out another under the I 19 and if you have both of them on your card you mark it until you have 5 in a row in any direction.

We haven't had one of these, in a very Long time.  Not a lot unlike the scavenger hunt, which I love to participate in.   What is the spiral clip?

Gramie, as Sue mentioned, it is a little like a Scavenger hunt. You can pick any line from the card and use those 4-5 elements in a project. So you could use "Paint Splatter, Denim, Swirlies, Gears and Journaling strips" in one project, and have a bingo with the first line.

I love the scavenger hunt challenges that we have in the campus, the bingo challenge isn't that dissimilar to the scavenger hunt. This is the first Bingo challenge we had is quite some time. Last night I dived straight in, after choosing which line I was going to use. The 5 elements which I had to include in my page are: photo clip, gold/silver, rope, round photo ( I hope the photo of the yellow warbler counts, even though I create a flair button. It's still a round photo) and lino paper. several other techniques were used, including the labels, lifted corners, weaving of the rope. After sleeping on it, I finally came up with a title, as the birds are song birds, with the exception of the flicker, yet they too have a very distinctive song of their own.

I also like the Bingo Challenge and all the other challenges too, just I haven't been creative lately, so I have paused creating layouts for the time being to return more energized. :)

 

Sue, your work is outstanding; each one is better than the previous one, if possible... Photos, details, techniques...That is a piece of art!

My dear Cristina,  I hope you soon get over your lull in creativity, we miss you.  We all  benefit from a break,  only to come back with a fresh outlook. I sincerely appreciate, and thank you for your kind words.   I put a lot of thought into most of my pages, particularly the photos I use,  and in many cases their layout.  There is a lot to read into for the viewer, that looks hard, and studies a page, as I study others. The Thrasher and Yellow Warbler, are  looking hard  at something  in the distance. The flicker  isn't amused at the  juvenile Goldfinch, and  appears to be giving a warning glare, while the ovenbird, looks cross with  the Flicker.   I do like to use several techniques,  to me it's all in the small details, that makes the viewer look a little harder.  I study other peoples  pages, not be critical, but to try to interperate their thinking.

This is my first Bingo Challenge and indeed it is somewhat similar to a scavanger hunt. I choose: Denim, Grungy Effect, Wordart, Torn Paper and Spiral Clip. I used the pencil drawing I made with filter forge and torned it in 2 pieces and gave the edges a grungy look. The denim background, which you hardly can see now because of the reseizing, has a grungy edge. Spiral clip holds a label with the name of the windmill. The title Vintage is also made with filter forge and has some grungy spots too. In my stash I found this illustration of a lady in old fashioned dress to compliment the layout. The wordart fonts are Algerian, Ambrogio and Baby Garland. The vintage font is Willy Love and the idea to make it came from the masterclass about filter forge. I have been working on this for days because I was in a mail exchange with Carole about the Embroiderd Patch script that I bought and didn't work. After 38 mails and much more trials it is running now and the problem was lying in an extra program that had to been downloaded and the script had to be edited to tell it the path for that extra pogram. In the end the problem probably was the difference in language between my PC and PSP. My PC runs in Dutch and all things PSP related are in English.

Corrie, nice result!... Issues with scripts and programs, PSP included, can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint the cause... I am starting to learn to script and can see the complexity of it... I can only imagine one of Carole's scripts, which are way more complex than the ones I am creating.

Cristina thank you. I'm definitly not trying scripting yet.I enjoy the diamond membership and there is so much to learn and make. That combined with filter forge which is also new to me, gives me enough to do in the winter to come!!!

For this page I used:   journaling strips, leather element, glass element, plastic pocket, Lino pattern.    I have only  made a plastic pocket once, that was a long time ago.  The shadowing of the pockets, and the photos was a bit of a challenge. I selected the part of the photo which wasn't in the pocket, and  did a shadow, once I had copied and paste the whole thing to the main page I then did a smaller shadow.   It wasn't until I had almost finished the page, that I realized that the  light source on the translucent  beads, after they were threaded correctly, are not consistent. Same goes for the  glass element (glass bead tut, in the creative scrap) as I rotated it to thread it, to hold the alpha beads in place.  Carole, what do you think?   I used Alpha beads script 2, (translucent). The background paper is the bottom photo (blurred extensively, opacity) with a lino pattern below.  Which  slightly resembles the  dragonfly wings.  The newly emerged dragonfly, was one of many, that I  brought back from the lake in a jar, as larval, monitored them until they emerged, to macro shoot them. At this stage they are at their most vulnerable.  I used fine leather texture in the frame.

Sue, your job is ... delicious. It would be great to see it in its original size. I myself am slowly starting to learn scripting. That is very interesting. I hope the program lasts my experiment :)

Pirkko, thank you so much.  Yes, the fine details of the photos are greatly diminished.  Especially the macro shots.   I do post on the facebook book page, much larger files, but even then FB compresses files.

Sue a lovely layout and your photos are great, I love dragonflies. In our old house we had a small pont and I used to watch the dragonfly emerging and drying its wings on an upright leaf, magical!

I'm finally back home to Florida.  Haven't played for quite a while and I have to say there is loads to look at and smile about here.  Appreciating you all.  I was a passenger in a car that had an accident ... so am pretty slow moving as yet ... but getting better.  Making resettlement here a long process, that's for sure.  I played with the Bingo card.  Don't think I have ever seen this option before, but it was fun to play with and make shapes, and choose options, etc.
