This month, I was inspired by a photo of the sea, along the beach, with those blues and aqua shades. Hopefully, those colors will inspire you. This palette, although it has sort of beach colors, didn't let me think of the sea, but it made me think of the Blue Herons I have seen nestling in Marymoor Park. I came there almost every day with my daughter walking the dogs. At that time we couldn't see the young birds but we certainly could hear them. My daughter told me today she sees them now flapping their wings on the edges of the nests; so it will not take long and they all are gone until next year. I startes with a template from the Mask Workshop, but adapted it for my photos. The background is also a photo used as an overlay and blurred. I am making al sorts of elements from the tutorials and labs. This time I wanted to make letter beads and I used the colors from the palette. For the string and datestamp too. In the Q&A session from last Sunday Carole explained how I could solve the problem with an outline on text. Of course I wanted to show that I'm happy to be able to use it. Not for long though, I have joined you. :-) Lovely layout, the beads are a great addition to the page. Yesterday I took off at 6am, it was such a calm, surreal, eerie morning, that I had to take to the water with the kayak. Here are some shots I took. The middle photo was the first shot, then the top photo, and the bottom. It takes roughly 15 mins to get to the dam. I have 2 kayaks, a 14ft orange one, which I have showcased previously, and this 12ft one. I have included the written page, in case it isn't readable in the layout. I copied and paste the text from the internet, using the selection tool technique. I used a torn out sheet of paper I had previously created. A question for Carole, I didn't use a shadow on the GD, as it didn't look right. it made it look heavy. I suppose I could have used a shadow on it's own layer, and erased it from the filigrane pattern. Even a small shadow was to much in my opinion. Do you think it warrants a shadow? I did intertwine the two letters. I resurrected the crochet lace script after a very long period of time of being dormant. I had forgotten I had it, so much quicker than making my own. Cassel Posted June 15, 2022 Author Share Posted June 15, 2022 Sue, to answer your question, the alternative for the shadow would be to have it with a lower opacity. It can be quite tricky to get it just right. Of course the larger the element the better the shadowing will appear on really fine details. Despite his intimidating size, he is a very nice and gentle creature who takes care not to step on people. If he ever accidentally steps on someone and kills them, he makes sure to fund the funeral and cries a whole week afterward...
