Mary, your ribbon will have many layers, if you want to use it as it is, simply go to edit, copy special, copy merged. Paste. Should you want to add anything to the curled ribbon, you can do that more easily on it’s own layout, as you have each segment on their own layer. If my memory serves me well, you are given the option to group, if you choose that option, all you have do is copy and paste. Which means the curled ribbon will be pasted into your layout, with all the segments on their own layer, within a group, to allow you to edit it. I hope this helps.
Cristina, my dear, dear long time campus friend. Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any better, I read your comment. You have quite literally rendered me speechless. With much appreciation and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Suzy, speaking for myself, and I only ever speak as I find. Creative Fabrica is in my opinion one of the best, if not the best site for resources and inspiration. Their service is impeccable, helpful, and very prompt. To say that 2000 pages are trash, is unfair and unwarranted to say the least. They cater to many needs across the creative board so what you may consider is trash isn’t to someone else. No one is perfect, and they do have hiccups, which in my experience they rectify instantly.
Cristina, thank you for the compliment on the page. I followed the tutorial in the blog, just in case there might have been step left out. Of course there wasn’t. I’m pleased you directed Libera to the Tube Lab tutorial. Although I created a container, that tube tutorial completely slipped my mind. It’s impossible to remember absolutely everything that is in the campus. Although I do try, in order to assist members.
Corrie, absolutely, one small detail can take a layout to the next level. More often than not, the detail is quite subtle,
I masked the rose to send as an ecard to a friend who is now unable to get out and about to shoot insects and wildlife, so I send her some of mine on a regular basis. She’s far more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to IDing some species. So I rely on her when I’m stuck. I wasn’t overly impressed with the word art, but that’s OK. It was coming up to my bedtime, and I didn’t give it much thought. The quote was quite apt, for the challenge.I hadn’t checked out the cylinder shape in the blog, until I read that Libera had an issue. I thought I’d create a container. I used a paper template, and found some kitchen utensils on the net. Looking at it now I should have used a larger feather for the shadowing. Time for bed now.
The native Prairie Roses are ever so delicate, they are very small and low to the ground plants. I used a mask I had previously created using a decorative brush. Word art. Macro photograph.
Liberia, I’m guessing at what your problem may be. Using the selection tool, select the base layer, which is the rectangle you created,(with lowered opacity) with contiguous checked. Hit delete on the plaid paper. Select none. Hide or delete the rectangle you created. You should now be left with your cylinder shape. (With contiguous checked you should see that the rectangle shape is inverted, which means the cylinder shape you created should be in tact) the rectangle you created should be on its own layer. I hope this helps.
Ann, another lovely page, I like the chalkboard effect.
Corrie, what can I say! Wow!! It’s perfect. I love the colour combination. Very natural. You even matched the colour of the frame to some of the letters. I also like that you didn’t use a white background, but a slightly off colour. Something I often do, it doesn’t make the page so starkly bright.
Feel free to download both photos, to play with using masks, using my finished page as an example. I have added the lacewing, and left it in the photo. Of course I have had to greatly resize, in order to post in the campus.
Yes Susan, I added the lacewing to the blister beetle, before I aligned the blister beetle alongside the wasp, I then matched the two photos the best I could. This is the original photo of the wasp. There are several mask tutorials, and masterclasses in the campus, there is also one that Carole did for Corel several years back.
Suzzy, I don’t quite know how to respond to your comment, LOL other than, early mornings are the best part of the day, especially when woken to a dawn chorus. As for insects I have always found them fascinating. I observe, document, and photograph their very complex lives. Purely for my own pleasure. I also enjoy the night sky, observing the constellations, shooting the moon phases.
Pirkko, I use my photos in greeting cards, and calendars, which I email, or print off for family and friends, and like minded people, that have the same interest in insects, and birds. I have always had a passion for everything nature.
Susan, thank you so much. Using the blend mode doesn’t really work, even though I said that I blend photos together to make one image. The best way is to create a mask, and yes, it is important to retain the original size of the photos. Also taking perspective into account I find it works best, when the background has a lot of depth of field. Like in this image. It is also important to take into account the shadowing, it won’t work well if you have the light source coming from more than 1 direction. In this image, I used 2 photos of the same same bird, luckily the bird turned around, and I could blend the two photos together. I’m always pleased when the viewer is unable to detect the merge. It really isn’t that difficult once you have learnt how to use masks. I have said it before, when posting images like this, two photos, same bird, one image, that’s the magic of PSP.

I allow a few seconds to submit before I either leave the campus or go back to the forum.
June 18, 2022 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78169I prefer the pastel blue, may I suggest you try a soft primrose colour. Not a vibrant yellow like Daffs. I would also be inclined to either make the tags smaller, or create a white Polaroid frame around the photos, to add text. Like I did in the bees and butterflies page. I either calculate to place the guides, for the placements of the photos, or use objects, distribute, space evenly horiz or vertical. But for you using the script, you don’t need to do that. Perhaps the script doesn’t allow you to create a Polaroid frame. After all you are the creator, and as long as you are happy with the layouts, that is what matters.
I alternated orange and black, switching every other letter, and the same for the two shades of grey. To match the relevant insects. All the colours for the page were taken from the photos.
Prikko, very nice page.
My day started at the crack of dawn. I managed to get 2 hours of kayaking in before 8am. By which time the sun was ideally high enough to go in search of insects to shoot. Here are 2 that graced me with their presence. It’s fantastic to see such beautiful familiar faces again. I created a mask to blend 3 photos together. Seeing as the photos were taken with the sun behind me, and all three insects were on the Purple Milk Vetch plants, they blended pretty well. It’s always a bonus to shoot native insects on native plants. In case you are wondering where the third insect is, it’s in the middle at the bottom. A newly emerged Lacewing. The wasp is 8-10mm, and the beetle is slightly smaller. The velvety grey blister beetle is my favourite blister beetle. It really does have the most velvety feel to the touch. For the tag, I did something a little different to the tag text, but it’s still multi coloured. Again, due to resizing, the page is degraded.
June 17, 2022 at 11:34 am in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78129Suzy, Carole does have a gradient creator, here is the link.
June 17, 2022 at 12:35 am in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78119If I’m not mistaken, Carole has a gradient maker script.
June 17, 2022 at 12:33 am in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78118The template scripts will save you a lot of time. I use guides, and then the selection tool, using snap to guide. I have created several guide templates. Which saves on time.
June 17, 2022 at 12:19 am in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78117I think I would be inclined to choose a colour from the photo, preferably a yellow using the pointer tool, and tone it right down. Also use a matching colour to create an outer flat thin border, like in the sparrow page. I don’t do anything that will distract the eye away from my photos. The outer flat border, will help focus the eye on the photo.
June 17, 2022 at 12:08 am in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78115I create a lot of my own gradients, you will find a blog post on creating gradients. Quite often if I want to soften the colour a tad, I will flood fill a layer with white and place it below the gradient and lower the opacity on the gradient. Or use a much lighter colour of the gradient, and then lower the opacity on the gradient. I like to add a subtle texture. There are quite a few that come with PSP.
June 16, 2022 at 11:22 pm in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78111Here are a few more pages I’ve done, that may give you ideas.
June 16, 2022 at 11:09 pm in reply to: Need ideas for captions for a storyboard array of photos #78107For individual photos, you could use what I did for the Sparrow, without the wood frame, use another plain paper underneath, to use a paper clip or staple, using neutral colours, they won’t distract from the photos, but give a bit of a lift. Having a wider border on one side will allow for text.
The other two, you could create masks to slot in photos. Once you have created the template, it will be straight forward. Again, you won’t have a need for the frames I created for my pages. It would be easy enough to create a rectangle page for the multi photos. These may give you some ideas.
Cristina, thank you for your congratulations! I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I had made the finals. Being a self taught, armature photographer, having recognition for my photography is fantastic. As the standard of entries are always very high.
I totally agree with you. I will adopt the same shadowing as I do for lace. The faintest of faint. It can be quite tricky to get it just right. Of course the larger the element the better the shadowing will appear on really fine details. Lol
Carole, thank you for the feedback. I played with the opacity, and blur in varying degrees. I still wasn’t happy with it with a shadow. I’ll have another play with it and post it here.
Thank you ever so much Susan, and congratulations to Lynda on her entry making the finalists.
Awe! Corrie, sorry to see you were here on your own. Not for long though, I have joined you. 🙂 Lovely layout, the beads are a great addition to the page.
Yesterday I took off at 6am, it was such a calm, surreal, eerie morning, that I had to take to the water with the kayak.
Here are some shots I took. The middle photo was the first shot, then the top photo, and the bottom. It takes roughly 15 mins to get to the dam. I have 2 kayaks, a 14ft orange one, which I have showcased previously, and this 12ft one.
I have included the written page, in case it isn’t readable in the layout. I copied and paste the text from the internet, using the selection tool technique. I used a torn out sheet of paper I had previously created.
A question for Carole, I didn’t use a shadow on the GD, as it didn’t look right. it made it look heavy. I suppose I could have used a shadow on it’s own layer, and erased it from the filigrane pattern. Even a small shadow was to much in my opinion. Do you think it warrants a shadow? I did intertwine the two letters.
I resurrected the crochet lace script after a very long period of time of being dormant. I had forgotten I had it, so much quicker than making my own.
Wonderfully creative mandalas. Fantastic work by you all. Each one unique. I used font monograms to create this Xmassy layout. I extracted parts from the monograms, after changing them to rasters.
