What a really  lovely page you made.  Experiment with the different bevels, to achieve different effects.  I used bevel #10 for the gold frame.  These are pages I made quite some time ago,

To achieve the  rose photo to come through  into the frame,   Image , add borders, select a colour not in the  photo. Save project as a PSP.  Open the original photo, copy and paste into the project you are working on. Change the background layer to a raster. Magic wand, select new border. Edit, paste, paste into selection.  Here I  chose the weave texture. Effects, 3D effects, bevel 2.  Settings depend on the size of your project.  Selections, select none.

Although the original is lovely the beveled frame you made is awesome, it gives  the  project that little extra finesse. You could add  another two  borders with different  widths.  Add a cutout using a plus and a minus to  give  extra shading for depth.

I made something different from one of the calendar Challenge pages last night.  A front cover for a Christmas card for a member of my Welsh family. I took these pics when I was home last month. I extracted the robin and the top rail of the wooden gate it was perched on and placed them  into a photo laiden with berries.  I created some fine falling snow to give it  that final touch, using  cassel’s  snow tutorial. I’m addicted to extracting objects, as they can be used over and over again.

You created something really beautiful, and authentic looking.  It really is lovely.  To give more of a more 3D  effect, with depth of field  which is what I sometimes do, depending on the project.  This is how I do it. First using the dropper tool select  foreground (left click) and  background  (right click) colours from the  image, one being slightly darker than the other. Go to image, add borders, choose 1 or 2 pixels, choose a colour not in your project. Using the magic wand, select your new border and flood fill with black. Go to selections and invert, go to effects 3D effects and cutout, set setting to  what you desire, say 1 one or 2 pixels.  For the colour choose one of the dropper colours you chose, preferably the background colour which should be slightly darker. (right click). To use the cutout effect, you have to have  use a new layer.  Repeat the cutout with  a minus  -1 or -2 on a new layer.  Select none.  Go to image, add borders, this time choose a  much wider border, any colour other than black, magic wand, select  border, edit, paste paste into selection,  flood fill with the foreground colour, effects, texture effects, texture and choose a texture to your liking. Effects 3D effects inner bevel. Select none. I hope this makes sense, if not  let me know and I’ll try to be more specific.  I posted 2 framed projects in the making on the new facebook page, which will give you an idea on what the results are using the above techniques. you can repeat this process as many times as  you want.

I agree we can always learn from each other  Cristina. Thank you April, and the same to you.  Now that winter has descended, with  several blankets of snow, I can work on so many projects that I have pending.

Thank you all for your  very kind words  on my projects.  All the pages submitted are just beautiful.  I applaud you all. Also  Cassel for creating such a wonderful challenge.  Well done everyone!

I thought I’s a share a tip when using the Character map, possibly you already know, but anyway I’ll tell you just in case.  Once you have chosen a letter from the character map and paste it into your project, you don’t have to keep going back to the character map to select and copy and paste  the same letter again and again for the same project.  You can simply highlight a letter from any text vector layer, within your project, right click, select copy and then paste it  into the layer where you want  the letter to be. You can also click paste multiple times, if you want to use the same letter more than once in a particular word.

I joined this challenge 2 days ago, received my first 2 calendar pages this morning.  Here’s January.  Using my own photo, then  used the photo to  create a seamless, textured background paper. Used the Character map for the font, and changed the weekend dates  to red by  locking the  layer, to match the colour of the  flower.

I’ve been home for  a month, to the land of song  (Wales).  I made this last night, as I always make a calendar month to post on my facebook page using my own pics.  Here I used the punched  out brushes, which I absolutely adore using in my projects  and the calendar script.   Made my own mask, and textured plain papers. The first snow fell on the 1st Nov, what a welcome back to Saskatchewan I got.  Oh the joys of a Canadian winter.

This is an ongoing project.  I took several pics of  birds quite a few weeks ago. I keep going back to it, making adjustments, I must be satisfied with it, and say it’s finished. This is Autumn 2018, Spring and Summer are complete, only winter to do now. In my mind I will display the framed seasons  in an art gallery layout with lights above the frames, well that’s my thinking. I started with a blank canvas and photos.  The tools mostly used are the cutout, inner bevel, selection tool. Colours for the frame are taken from the photos, with textures added. I also made the masks.

Yes April, Cassel’s scripts really do add a touch of class to our projects.  Thank you Cristina, the fanned script is so diverse, I can choose the number of copies,  the direction, also it will add a drop shadow if you want, even a border.

Thank you Cristina.  One of my favourite scripts is the fanned script. Again I made all the papers, using various  element creation tutorials, like how to make plaid papers. Quilt patch, frayed edges. The last two are projects in progress, to be used in  cards.  The first one is a completed front page of a card, I’ve still to write a verse, and  create a matching  paper for the inside.  Again I’ve used the  Cassel brushes, stamp script, woven script (which I won). Now that summer is over I can spend some time on card making.  The horses and Tess, the dog, are my  pride and joy, along with Tomi. Photos are all mine.

Thank you ever so much ladies! I don’t post much, saying that I do see the work that you post, you are all very talented! I forgot to mention that in the Sept calendar, I  extracted a Ladybird and the flower that it was on  from another photo and placed it proportionally in the foreground of the main photo. xx

I was lucky enough to upgrade to PSP ultimate 2018 for 75% off the  full price.  A pop up showed up on my laptop a few days ago. So I took advantage of the great offer.  So far no issues!  Using the 2018 version I made the October calendar, using the custom calendar script, and the Cassel brushes , also My handsome  10yr old cat page,  who behaves more like  my dog, he’s quite the character.  I created everything in the pages myself including the mask and background papers.  I love taking macro photos of insects, which is very addictive.  All photos are my own. For the Sept calendar page I used Cassel’s spiral binding tubes, lifted photo script, and custom calendar script.

Spring now feels like it has finally arrived.  Crab apple blossoms, and the first flower to appear in the garden, the Anemone.  I used a different technique for the Anemone.  Using the smart selection brush, select the flowers, invert, new adjustment layer, brightness and contrast, and  adjust the brightness to however dark or light you want it.

I bought the word cut out scrip, which I use extensively with my photos( Spring project). In the birthday greeting to Caroline (in Welsh) I cut the word out myself using the tutorial in the creative scrap. Happy projecting! (if that’s a word!!! ????

Firstly congratulations on winning the script Jodi. That’s awesome, thank you for sharing it with us. I bought the word cut out scrip, which I use extensively with my photos( Spring project). In the birthday greeting to Caroline (in Welsh) I cut the word out myself using the tutorial in the creative scrap. Happy projecting! (if that’s a word!!! 🙂

E= eggnog. Home made of course, to warm the cockles of your heart on a snowy winter’s day. Thank you Cassel for the quick page, it’s prefect for the photo I took early on Wednesday morning en route to the city. The snow covered stone, is my own element, and then I used the engraving tutorial from the creative scrap to add the date. I see normality is slowly returning to NB.
