Thank you ladies for your lovely comments on the frames. Michele, I love the paper you made using some of Particle Shop’s brushes. It’s a cool plugin. I’ve used it on several projects. It’s not a complicated tool to use either. With regard to making preset shapes, I had this discussion with Cassel some time ago. It is possible but tedious. I found that I was disappointed with the end results. Cristina your frame using Cassel’s class, is awesome. I’m not a scrapbooker, although I have done some pages, since I found Cassel on line. Some very ornate frames, don’t really belong on a scrap page, saying that I’ve learnt that almost anything goes in scrapbooking, it depends on the creators taste, and project. I haven’t watched the class yet. I made this frame last night from memory, after attending the live presentation.
Here are some of the frames I’ve been working on this winter, using photos taken throughout the summer. The first one is a blank birthday frame, using Cassel’s techniques she used in her framing class. I add them to cards, letters, post them on FB to add a touch of elegance to some of my pics. To make them more interesting to those looking at them. As I’m not a proper scrapbooker.
You did a lovely job, making the frame. The first of many no doubt!
That is one beautiful composition Michele!
Exquisite cards April. The effect you achieved with the flower on the second card is very realistic. Love the silver lace effect too. All round cracking job!
Xmas gift tags, which are printable.
Deloris I watched your video, it’s very nice indeed. An heirloom to be passed on.
Printable Xmas Gift tags. I made the red tag to match some wrapping paper I have.
Neice/nephew.
When I saw, I had to buy, when I bought I had to use, and finally I had to say thank you for making these brushes! Sue
I had already made the sparrow card. For the circular frame I used the font headers and frame, lower case letter o. used a mask on the photo of the sparrow, and place it under the round frame. For the main border I used effects, textures, kaleidoscope. After watching the latest superb Master class earlier today. I made a bauble from the same sparrow photo, and placed it in the frame, also added ”Merry Christmas’
Here’s a card I made last night. To be printed on 5×7 photo paper, or emailed. Using my own photo. (Snowman was a free clipart from Corel) Made the card, envelope and stamps from scratch, extracted the pen from a photo, the other elements I found in PSP tube depot. com
I was asked by a very dear friend to make a Christmas card for him, using a photo of his now 6 month old puppy Rigbey. I came up with this 3D card, which can be printed on 5×7 photo paper or greeting card. The Poinsettia frame is a font, Frames and borders, small case letter w, using Bold with the foreground colour gold, and background colour red. Using the magic wand to highlight the petals, bevel tool. Select none. Select the leaves, change colour to green, and flood fill, then bevel. I made the snow, erasing the snow off the dogs face. I used the triangle shape to create the envelope and the back of the card, making sure the gold borders were all the same sized pixels. I didn’t get the first day’s email until late last night, and Cassel, I haven’t received today’s email either. Perhaps I should reregister, unless you can re enter my email address. Most of the cards I make are either sent via email, or printed off on plain Avery greeting cards.
It’s the 1st December already. Which means we are one month closer to Spring. After I had completed the project, I noticed that the dates weren’t quite right, as traditionally the week starts on a Sunday and not a Saturday, so I hid the month, and copied and paste the month of June into December. Selected the date 31 from December, promoted it to a new layer, and copy and paste it to it’s new place. These calendar templates are marvelous!
Micfin, you really have got the border bug. Very nice work indeed. Perhaps Cassel will do an advanced border master class, as I’m sure there are other techniques which can be used to create borders.
Thank you Cassel! I’m only ahead, as the weather is awful here, cold and snowy. I’m not one for the telly. When I have spare time I like to while it away creating cards well in advance, so all I have to do closer the time is make minor adjustments. It’s always handy having spare cards at hand. Looking forward to the challenge.
Hi all! I’ve registered for the 12 days of Christmas challenge. I can’t promise that I’ll be able o all 12 days, but I shall do my very best too. Here are 2 cards, these I made last night. I created the cards and envelopes for scratch. I also used techniques from the Word Art 2 master class.
The snow is falling outside. Which has put me in a Christmasy mood. Thought I’d better make a start on some cards, some to be printed on 5×7 photo paper. Using photos, which I’ve taken recently. The envelopes, stamp and date stamp I’ve created using Cassel tutorials.
Wow! Great job. I love everything about it! Even the idea of having the tables turned, pardon the pun. 🙂 You certainly are having fun with frames. Watch out creating frames can get addictive!
Thank you ever so much Cristina for your very kind comments. I’m delighted that you have copied my instructions, and going to experiment with them. You’ll put your won stamp on the frames that you do, as the variations, colours and patterns are limitless. I like to use the blinds texture quite a lot. Create a border, magic wand, select, flood fill with the colour of your choice, texture, blinds, set the settings with the horizontal box checked, then repeat the blinds texture using the same settings but with the horizontal box unchecked. Have fun!
Thank you ever so much for your very kind comments on my projects. It’s very much appreciated. I too use either a letter or a number after the title to save multiple stages of a particular project, it also keeps particular files together, rather than having them dotted all over the place in a folder. I would very much like to see some of your framed projects posted, as I’m always eager to learn from others like yourselves. I too have a bad memory, and make notes in the information section for future reference. I also jot down notes on paper as I go along, to be consistent with the widths when adding borders. That goes to show how bad my memory can be. 🙂
Kind regards
Sue
Here are two more that I’ve made over the past few days. The blue framed image is Nell, that I extracted from a photo I took of her. Using a not so good autumn photo for the background and a photo of blue sky with some clouds. I placed the sky photo under the autumn one and changed the blend mode to luminance. This is what I ended up with. I then placed Nell on top, and changed the blend mode to luminace. I then created the frame using the colours in the image. I’m going to use it in a Christmas card for a horsey friend.
The deer image I mage the other day t to be used in a birthday card for a cousin. In this one I used edit, paste into selection , to achieve the pattern.
I made this frame last night using an image I scanned from a bought Christmas card I received last year. I go through the previous year’s cards and scan some of them, before recycling. The image is 600 x 700 pixels. Here’s how I did it. Add border 1 pixel in black. Add border 6 pixels use a colour not in image, activate the magic wand, click in frame, flood fill with gold fill pattern. select none. add border 1 pixel in black. add border 20 pixels, choose a colour of choice I used #d22402. Click with magic wand in the frame, effects , textures, mosaic. effects inner bevel. Add border 1 pixel black. add border 12 pixels use a colour not in image, magic wand, flood fill with gold fill. select none. Add borders 1 pixel black, add border 25 pixels colour #d22402, magic wand, select, textures, mosaic, inner bevel. Add border 1 pixel black, select none. add border 6 pixels, flood fill with gold fill. Selections modify contract, by about 75 pixels, to the edge of the image. On a new layer Effects, 3D effects, cutout about 5 pixels, repeat on a new layer about -5. Some settings may vary depending on the size of image.
Wait no longer Cristina. This is a frame I made 2yrs ago, with a photo of my 3 girls in. Meg, Nell and Tess my beloved border collie. I opened the file yesterday, used the selection tool to select the photo, and hit delete. I replaced it with the cluster. To make the background paper, I used the cluster to make a seamless tile. Effects, seamless tiling, settings corner checked, horizontal checked. Again, seamless tiling, settings vertical checked. Then on a separate layer, I flood filled with the foreground colour, move that layer to the bottom. I merged visible, adjust, blur gaussian blur. radius 18. Effects art media effects, brush strokes. File, new, materials palette, pattern, choose the seamless tiling you created, and flood fill. Save.
Open the cluster, new mask layer, from image. Copy and paste the masked cluster onto the background paper. Tip: This is how you get different shades of the same colour. Materials palette, left click into background colour and change the ‘lightness’. (Materials palette, change from wheel to slider. change RGB slider to HSL slider, and change the lightness according to what you want). I make notes as I go along, I hope I haven’t left anything out, and it makes sense to you.
What a delightful page you created Cristina. I have the Cassel window frame script. I haven’t used it for a while. Thank you, you have now prompted me to make something Christmasy using the wooden window script.
I love it. I had never thought of putting elements under the cutout, it is certainly a cool effect, and works a treat! I agree increasing the canvas size to create the border can work better if you have elements that you want to manipulate as you go along. Great work! You could always save the main layer, retaining all the elements as individual layers, as a PSP file using a new name, while you work on creating the borders. Once you are happy, add it to the framed project. You can always go back to mend or alter the one file at any time.
Yesterday was a miserable snowy day. A prefect day to watch the Word Art part 2 tutorial video. With Christmas looming around the corner I decided to make a Christmas tag. To create the background paper I used textures, blinds. The frame is a simple bevel. Using the magic wand I selected the frame (before doing the bevel), on a new layer 3D effects, cutout +3, on a new raster layer repeat with -3. As for the holy and berries, I scanned a bought card I was given last year, and extracted the holy and berries. To soften the edges I selected all and feathered. For the text I used the burn blend mode.
Cristina, Marlene and April, what can I say! Your pages are simply awesome. I love the bullet holes. Each and every one unique. So many different techniques used to tell a story. I have the Garineldo font, which I use a lot, as for the clusters, they all look very professional. Cristina, your background page is gorgeous, as are the clusters, again very professional looking. Those Cassel scripts are an absolute god send, not only do they save time, they always give the desired effect.
Thank you ever so much ladies! I should have mentioned, that in order to obtain the gold fill, click to enlarge the image, right click, and select: save image as. Seeing as the festive season will soon be upon us I as shall be making a Christmas frame or two. I will post one along with written instruction on how I made it. Happy PSPing! 🙂
I shall make this my last framed page to post. I’m always happy to share what knowledge I have. I’m always learning from others. This is the gold fill pattern I made and used in this rose frame, feel free to download it and add it to your Patterns folder in PSP. Go to documents, Corel folder, open the PSP program that you are using, and paste it into the patterns folder. I love all the work submitted. Like you I too open the pages to have a closer look, and make note of details added, and learn from them. Great work girls!
