And here is my day 7. I have thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. The pages posted by everyone have been very creative and an inspiration to us all. well done. This one was is meant to be a tag. I used as many fonts as I could. The heart on the frame, the quote, even the white bird in the top corner is a font. I replicated the tutorial, but it wasn’t going to work for this particular project, so using the text tool, I used several photos to fill the word bird. Thank you Carole for all the hard work you put into challenge. Well done Royanne on spotting the third ground squirrel. Annie, I’m going to have send you a magnifying glass, or perhaps binoculars!!!!! 🙂 hahaha lol. He’s actually in the centre of the of the background photo. I purposely took the photo to use in the project. He is peeping from his hole. I’m pleased to hear you are on the mend.
Day 6 keeping with the various ways to use the text tool, I used font swashes, a font heart to create the frame, and text on a curve. I feel that the quote I created can describe everyone here, including myself. I’m always seeking to learn, striving to do my best, and whatever I do, I put my heart and soul into it. There are three ground squirrels in this project, can you see the third one? 🙂 Thank you Annie for you kind words, it’s so nice to see you back taking part in this challenge, don’t do to much to soon, fully recover first before you get back into the swing of things. I trust you are feeling much better though. As for everyone else, such outstanding creating!
Day 5. Thank you Carole for you comment. I’ve created a scrapbook page, and will now label myself as a scrapbooker! 🙂
An edge punch used on the photo, eyelets and scalloped edges on the overlayed paper. Element found online.
Well done all, on creating such beautiful pages.
Here’s my day 4. The quote refers to myself and anyone else that feels the same way I do. While humanity is destroying this beautiful planet at an unprecedented speed. Also the Corona virus pandemic, also created by humanity. I do look what is right under my nose, and loose myself in nature. Insects are a passion of mine, and I love each and every species, but I do have a particular fondness for beetles. I posted the original day 2 page (Crocus). Text on a curve. Pen and preset shape.
Thank you for the comment Carole, I wasn’t overly happy with the colour myself. I should have stuck with the colour white, with the text confined to the adjustment layer, as I had originally planned. I did know that the text can be moved after the selection was removed, you have a very keen eye. It was centred, but I noticed a typo after I deselected, I should have and usually do check that everything is in it’s right place. I do read all of your comments, and suggestions, and go back to the page you comment on. It’s a good way to learn, having the visual and suggestion. Looking forward to day 4.
Carole, in your opinion, would you have added a drop shadow to the glphys. Sometimes I do, depending on the project. Seeing as the font isn’t beveled or shadowed, I opted for not shadowing, giving the rubber stamp effect rather than a sticker effect or element, if you know what I mean. The frame on the other hand has a drop shadow.
Day 3. I’m keeping with the theme of Spring using various fonts, seeing as it’s a text tool challenge. I used a font, called shapes pro to frame the text. I converted to a raster, used the selection tool to remove the centre, and write the text. Character map was used on the top text. To many participants to comment on individually, so I shall collectively congratulate you all on your magnificent, creative pages. Well done!
Dear Annie, I trust that you are feeling better. And that you’ll soon be back on form. I’m sure I speak for others when I say that I miss your pages and your high spirits, that motive us, myself included. Thank you ever do much for your kind words. X
Day 2. In this page I used an adjustment layer. Vector tube script on the word April. Character map. Thank you Carole another great tutorial. This technique is quicker than the one I usually use. Awesome pages being created, keep up the good work everyone!
Here is my Day 1 of the wise word challenge. I used the rectangle tool for the frame around the bird, with the out of bounds effect. The tag is created using Cassel’s corner punch brushes. I hadn’t had the chance until now to use the glitter tutorial from the blog. The swashes in the tag is a font.
My dear Challenge partner, Annie. I have missed your posts, and was hoping that all was well with you. May you feel much better soon. Meanwhile check in to have your spirits lifted with all the wonderful pages created by very talented PSPers. Some may disagree with me, but I have to say that I absolutely love these tiny adorable creatures. I spend some time watching and shooting them go about their daily lives. The main frame is Cassel’s edge frame punch brush. Also I like to use more photos by placing them in text. A technique you’ll find in one of the No Kit master classes. The font is rounds black.
Happy Easter everyone. Stay safe, and well.
Like so many others I’ve kept myself busy psping during these difficult times. Our weather hasn’t been the nicest. We had a couple of plus 15c days, but they didn’t last long. Even today on Easter Sunday we are having snow flurries. None the less it hasn’t stopped me going and about shooting birds as they start to arrive after wintering in warmer climes. Many are just passing through, while others will stay and nest. Here are some projects that I’ve created. The frame in the crow image is made using the bracket frame tutorial in the lab. The font used is Imprint MT shadow. The flax flower and Vesper sparrow image, is a double exposure. There’s a masterclass on blending. Everyone has been busy being creative, and the pages posted are out of this world. A very creative bunch you all are.
Well, really Lynda! Consider yourself reprimanded for not reading the instructions. ?? You did a lovely job on the flower.
Hi Lynda, you did a lovely job on the cone flower, it didn’t take you long to go and purchase the script. I love the brushes that came with the script too.
Hi Annie, thank you for your very kind comment on my work. I look forward to seeing your projects which include masks and the blend mode. You take care, and stay safe. X
Cassel’s PhotoSplash script is ever so quick and easy to use, and the beauty of it is, I can edit it to my liking. I used the goose to create the background paper. Whether you are a photographer, scrapper, digital graphics artist, or an oil painter, art comes in so many different forms, and the quote I used applies to any number of us. Especially myself. Stay safe and well! Keep psping!!!
Hi Lynda, thank you for your kind comment. I downloaded the free floppy bow. I do like that bow. I colourize it, and hang it over picture frames, and tree branches. It can take a bit of time, using the selection tool, promoting to a new layer etc, but the end result is worth the effort.
Michele, I can’t say how much I miss your posts, I wish you well, stay safe and be careful my friend. it’s always a pleasure to scroll through the posts. There is so much talent, and creativity in the projects. They are a great source of inspiration. Such a beautiful sunrise this morning. JJ and I enjoying the warmth. I sat with him for a while, with a cuppa and the camera, at a distance mind. As he won’t let me get to close. It’s called social distancing. The frame is Cassel’s edge punch. I love these punches.
Many of you will have seen what I’ve just posted. As I tend to post on the facebook page. These are a few of the projects that I’ve created in the last short while. If there is anything that you’d like to know how I achieved some techniques, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve posted these here, for those that are no on facebook. All photos are my own. JJ is no longer the little kit I photographed last summer. He’s now an adult wild native Nuttall’s rabbit. I have no idea what sex he is, hense the name JJ, which is short for Jack/Jill.
What can I say, I love them both Annie! If I had to choose one, it would be the second one. I love the colour blue that you used in the page. Saskatchewan is called Land of living sky. Probably unknowing to you, the corner punch could be used as a saddle rack, and strips going horizontal and vertical are typical of the Sask roads. As all roads go either north south, or east west. You did the photo proud, the simplicity of the photo also came through in both layouts. Well done indeed my friend! Thank you. I’ve sent you an email.
Annie, if you want the uncompressed file, would you give me your email address so I can send it to you.
I’m very much a morning person, 5am is the best time of day. As the sun rises earlier and earlier so do I. It’s the best time of day to shoot anything and everything. Vitamin D on your body will do you the power of good Annie. Just being outside is a tonic in itself Annie. Hope you perk up soon. Now then, back to the challenge. After a full morning in the garden, and picked up tree branches from the wind we had a few days ago. Evening meal prepared I got down to creating my page. I had ample time to plan my page whilst outside. I focused on Peter Pan sculpture. I created everything myself, well other than the book which I got off pgntree, and a pic of the book cover from Amazon. Lots of different techniques involved, text on a curve, label, outlined text, masks, masked flowers is my own photo, gradient for background paper, frames using rectangle preset shape and a silhouette of Peter pan I found online. I found the two photos of the Long Water and garden from the Kensington site. I think that’s it. It all came together quite quickly. Creating the page also took me down memory lane. Thank you Annie for being my partner. We’ll have to do it again! I do hope that you approve Annie. Be careful, and stay safe my dear!
Hi Annie! You were right I did instantly recognize the sculpture. 🙂 There isn’t any rush to complete the page, it’s meant to be fun, and if you are not feeling up to it at the moment, that fine. Try to get out, even if you only walk around the house, for a bit of exercise and take in the fresh air. So far we are safe and well thank you. I shop locally once a fortnight, but I have enough provisions to last several months. You take are and stay safe. The weather is lovely here, so I’ll be spending time outside, my nearest neighbour is 2 miles away .
Hi Annie, after some thought I’ve sent you a photo of my Meg’s ears. Meg and I work for big ranchers, when they need us to help trail several hundred head of cows home after harvest, it is then we can trail them across vast areas of stubble fields and pasture land. The cows are coming home for the winter. We also take the cows out to their summer pasture in the Spring. Saskatchewan Prairies.
Hi Annie. I recognise that sculpture, as I have visited it, many years ago, when I used to stay with my aunt and uncle in London. They used to take my brother and I to all the places of interest. It’s the Peter Pan sculpture, which is in Kensington Gardens, London. I’ve yet to choose a photo for you. I shall choose one and send it to you later on this evening. You are more organized than I am, I should have chose a photo first, and then signed up for the challenge. 🙂
I’ll take part in this challenge. It may be out of my comfort zone. Which will do me good. I’m pretty set in my style of PSPing and subject matter. Although I’m capable of creating almost anything myself. Through several years of Carol’s tuition.
POSTER #2
You are now teamed up with Annie.
Nice work Gerry, I can’t see anything wrong with your snow flakes. Other than the white ones perhaps. You should have used the colour black, as black will block, and you’ll get the background paper showing through. As you used the colour white to preserve the image of your great nephew. Don’t panic, we’ve all been confused by masks at some time or other, and no doubt will do in the future. Persevere, as masks create really cool effects.
Thank you Carole, for the complimentary comments on my pages. They make me strive to be more creative, in creating unique effects, like the frames. As for the masks in day seven I created the oval one, for the word butterfly, I would reduce the opacity and hardness, as I brush outwards then merge group. Thought I’d try something different, and it worked. The main mask, I used a water colour brush, the text isn’t mine. I did something simillar to what I described in the native sparrow. Placed it under the brush mask after merged group. I changed the text white, and put a black background, making it a mask.
I used the exact size photo so they match perfectly. I added a blinds texture to the oval mask after merging. I also used the brush, white, low opacity to remove some of the text.Thank you Carole, for the complimentary comments on my pages.
