Beautiful pages for the scavenger hunt. So much creative talent.
Last night’s little project, which I have just finished off. I think I can live with autumnal colours all year round, I just love the earth tone colours, and the crispness of the air. I rarely see these toads, as they only come out after a rain. Don’t get me started on the eyes of this adorable toad. I still have a few dragonflies, but not for much longer. Some of you will know that I like to use fonts, especially Carole’s special fonts for frames, borders, and other decorative elements. Text on a curve, tag created using a font, called soft ornaments. The other two fonts are Carole’s.
My last project for September.
Karon… Thank you again, for your very kind comments. I also use masks, (show all) for extractions, depending on the image of course.
Sometimes inspiration comes from the most weird places. I came in for lunch after picking up tree branches, after several days of high winds. I switched the radio on, and they played Sharp dressed man. For no apparent reason the wood ducks instantly came to mind, as I had been wondering how I was going to show case them. So this evening I created a very simple page. I used a staple that I had made years ago, downloaded the tie from pngtree, and the papers are my own, using a texture, overlay, and an embossed page I made, using a tutorial from the creative scrap .
Thank you Sheila. I’ll second that, Everyone in the forum, are supportive, kind, lovely people. The forum is a wonderful place to visit for inspiration.
I should have mentioned that I used the butterfly photo for the background paper, using the blend mode on a colour taken from the photos, layer placed below the photo.
This was a project I had already started. All I had to do was to add the five elements. The glitter, I sprayed on top of the word Autumn. I used the mitered corner script to create the ribbon frames. I already had made a ticket template. It was a simple case of adding the text, date, wording, and the colour of the ticket. Same goes for the pin, I matched the colour of the flower with the aster in the photo, using hue, sat, lightness. I have a set of Carole’s string tubes. Used the vector script.
I am really looking forward to the next masterclass on dingbats. I use fonts a lot in my projects, for frames, adding to frames and more. I hope to learn more tips and tricks and ideas on how to use them in different ways. Good choice of topic for the next masterclass Carole. Using Carole’s mitred corner script, makes using dingbats in my projects so much quicker and easier.
The unframed page I’ll use in a greeting card, replacing some of the text with an appropriate greeting. Modifying the size to fit a half fold card. I like to make my own masks, keeping them for future projects, like this one. Carole has a word frame script, but I created my own. The background paper are colours I used from the photos, using the fading foreground gradient, and a canvas texture. The frame is a simple one, image, add borders, 1 pixel border in black, gold border, and the outer border in green. Select all, contract to the number of pixels of the total borders, invert, textures, brush strokes.
Lynda… Thank you kind comment it’s always much appreciated, and mean a lot to me, especially from like minded PSPers.
Karon… Thank you for kind comments, and for taking the time to view, and read the pages. It’s very much appreciated, and it does mean a great deal to me. I don’t have many background papers, as I’m not an avid scrapbooker, which means I haven’t collected kits, background papers etc. I like to make my own papers, to match the colours in the photos I use. I do now have collection of papers which I’ve created myself, and tend to use them over and over. Same goes for elements. As for the blending of the photos, it’s easy to do, and they don’t have to match, well within reason anyway, to make them look like one shot. I use a gradient, and the selection tool with a feather, and flood fill. It’s PSP magic. lol.
Oops, I forgot to attach the page.
Sorting through copious numbers of bird shots. This evening’s project was to showcase the Least flycatcher. The bottom photo is 2 photos blended together using a mask. The top photo is also a masked photo, with leaves, and swirls added, with a decorative frame, created using one of Carole’s tutorials. Carole’s floppy bow. Textures for the papers, outer paper is one of the photos, paste into selection, with a high blur.
There isn’t a British Commonwealth Philatelic Bureau, there is though, a British Philatelic Bureau, in Edinburgh Scotland. Where I used to get my stamps, and then in later years the Presentation Packs, for myself and my children. Stanley Gibbons began a stamp counter within the family business, in Plymouth in 1856. I started collecting stamps when I was 8. I collected UK and Commonwealth stamps. A simple layout to showcase photos, using Carole’s stamp and lifted corner scrips. The word frame is my own. Photos taken on 21 Sept.
As I said in the facebook post, I couldn’t resist creating this one, I smiled the whole time it took me to do the word art, and text. 🙂
All three photos were taken at Danielson Park.
I’ve been getting out as much as I can, as the window of changing colours is very short. The weather has been perfect for kayaking, riding and hiking. Here are some shots from yesterday. Carole was generous enough to give us some autumn coloured elements, in way of appreciation I used them in this page. Kayaking.
Added trees using another mask.
Beautiful work Shelia, you scrapbooks are absolutely fabulous.
Karon, your pages are beautiful, lots of techniques used, well done!
Again, 2 photos used, one page created. Mask, a simple chisel frame and text.
Thank you Lynda, and Karon for your very kind comments, not only on the pages, and cards, but also on my photography.
I’m afraid my layout, doesn’t look anything like the sketch by the time I finished with it. The Monarch butterfly is one I extracted from a photo of mine some time ago. Went with the ink splatter effect. There’s a technique for ink spillage over a frame, photo or paper, I can’t remember in which masterclass, but I know how to do it.
I went for hike the other day to one of the Provincial Parks, they have designated trails, all mapped out, suitable for every level of walker. I walked 5 miles surrounded by beautiful autumn colours. In these photos I used local tone mapping, brightness and contrast, and selective focus tools. If you’d like to use these photos, please do so, or if anyone would others, including landscapes, let me know and I’ll post a selection.
Several techniques and tools used in this project. I like to keep the focus on the subjects I shoot. Same bird two photos, one page, blended both photos, using a mask, and a gradient, frames, extractions, for the background I used the blinds texture, and lightened it, using brightness/contrast.
To many to comment on individually, so I’ll congratulate you all for submitting outstandingly beautiful, creative pages.
The goose page was a very easy one to create, I will use it in another page, which is in progress, using other images, and literature about the life and habitat of the goose. I duplicated the photo. Instant effects, Retro soft. I then erased the goose revealing the original goose image. I love the subtle tones of the black and white feathers. White morph juvenile goose.
I haven’t been on here for 2 days, and in that time, Wow! some beautiful, creative pages have been submitted.
Fabulous page Michele, From a small sample one can get awesome background papers from the effects tool bar, reflection, kaleidoscope, and many more, no two layouts are ever the same. I don’t do tutorials, but I’m going to check out the site you used.
Autumn tag page. Not many techniques used in this one, out of bounds, extraction ( I replaced the background with a plain one, simple word art, and the bow I love best of all, Cassel’s floppy bow 15. The fots are Warrior Script, and Cheddar Cake factory.
Thistles and rosehips Autumnal colours. Took some photos yesterday. I haven’t done frames for a while. I do my own simple frames. Buttonize tool for the inner frames, where I paste into selection a rosehip photo I masked.
Another bird! Prairie thistle gone to seed photo, extraction. Chisel frame around the Warbler. Background paper is 3 papers, one of which is a gradient with a texture.
An early morning project. For the frame I used the chisel tool, I like the effect that clicking transparent creates, repeating it twice. A soft subtle frame. Carole has several word frame scripts. I created my own.
