Lynda, I have sent you a private message.
Lynda, thank you for the kind comment. I take it you want to know what fonts I used in the Meadowlark page. For the tile I used Esther, which has lots of cool glyphs, for the info I used Sailing, which also lots of cool glyphs, but didn’t use any of them in this project. The last project I used the glyphs for the Sailing font was in the first Easter card, which had the gosling in it. I agree, I prefer the first one of the ducks too.
I was inspired by Lynda’s rope wrapped around a frame. I also added some greenery and a flower. Fantastic work Lynda, the page of your is a wonderful tribute to him. I stuck with earth tone colours, not to distract from the photos. I matched the rope and the outer frame to the yellow of the Meadowlark’s breast.
I was looking back on last years photos. I used the stamping effect on the title, using the texture tool. It’s nice to go back and revive older techniques. I used one of Carole’s edge punches on the orange paper. I took a selection of the water from the photo, stretched it across the pages, added some swirls. I wanted to have the water overflowing, something I like to do sometimes, but it didn’t work very well on this project, as it works best on water which has ripples and waves.
Wow! the forum is a hive of activity with so many wonderful pages, a great deal of talent and imagination, and certainty in play. To many to comment on individually. Thank you ever so much for the kind comments that I have received on my pages, they always all are very much appreciated and mean a great deal to me.
All I can say is that I endorse what Bonnie and Cristina has already said. I hope that I can complete the challenge, as Spring is certainly under way here.
Outstanding page Annie. I was a huge fan of Steve. Watched all his programs. I now watch his son and daughter continue his legacy.
My dearest Annie, thank you for your continued kind comments on my layouts and photos. Coming from you it means a great deal. I’m always looking for new and different ways to showcase my photos, without making the layouts to busy. It never ceases to amaze me, that although we create hundreds of layouts, no two are ever the same. We all inspire and encourage each other, while Carole does an awesome job in keeping us all motivated.
Peter, let me know if you succeed with the instructions I have given!
Peter, if you are copying a word document, you don’t do a straight forward paste, first copy the doc, then select the text icon, and right click in the selection which you created on a new raster layer, and click paste. The word doc will then be pasted into the selection.
Peter, open a new raster layer. Go to the selection tool and create a rectangle where you want the text to be. Click on the text tool, place the cursor inside the selection, click at the top left corner, or what your alignment is and start typing.
March was a very busy month in the forum, so many wonderful pages created. It’s a pleasure to scroll through to be inspired, and to be taken on a trip around the world, with all the different photos used.
For the exhibition page, I created a table, extracted flowers to make an arrangement in a vase. Framed the photo, used the perspective tool to tilt it against the wall. Poster to advertise the exhibition. For the Junco pages, well I used several techniques, I did something a little different for to the text. I filled the text with leaves, which is a picture tube. Which had all the colours of the photo.
My last two creations for March 2021.
- Annie, I absolutely love what you did with the font, I can see why it took you a few days to complete, it’s ever so colourful and beautifully intricate. Are you able to change the font outline colour easy enough, if you wanted to?

Thank you Cristina yet again for your kind words. The canvas texture I had, I brightened it, so it would give a more defined look to the paper. I find doing that is better than than editing the texture before applying it. Which means I have several different intensity of the same texture.
Thank you ever so much Annie, you are always so kind. Your comments are always appreciated, and mean a great deal to me. I probably will, when the need arises, clone out the meadowlark, play with the page in effects, to create a background page for a project. Even in digital scrapbooking everything can be recycled. Enjoy the rest of your day, my dear friend.
Mary, thank you for the kind comment on the goose page. You’ll find a sand picture tube in tubes, which comes with PSP. I created a sand brush a long time ago. There is a sand brush tut in the creative scrap, in the campus.
This morning when I went over to the horses to muck out. I was pleasantly greeted by the song of the Meadowlark. The first this year. I would have preferred to have had a shot of him on a fence post, but this shot is better than none. I’m still in a frame making frame of mind. Carole’s corner punch brush. Canvas textures.
Val, thank you ever so much for your detailed kind comments on my pages, you must have really looked hard, and read my comments on what and how I achieved each page. I’m also pleased you found some of the files I posted to be used in projects. Have fun using them! Again thank you!
Annie, another beautiful page, you have an understanding of the use of blend modes. I noticed what you called mistakes, but are they really mistakes, I wouldn’t say so, as you haven’t used any drop shadows. Your mask is great, and so is your word art. well done. Thank you ever so much for you kind comments on my Easter card, I away appreciate them, coming from experienced pspsers they mean a great deal to me.
Cristina, thank you for your kind comments on the framing. I use my full sized photos, which means I have to resize them down greatly to post them. Which means a lot of the details are lost, unless you really zoom in.
Michele, I didn’t realize you were under the weather. I can only imagine how painful it must have been, as I have never had toothache. I’m pleased to hear that you are much now, even though you had to have an extraction.
One of this year’s Easter ecards. Lots of techniques used in creating the framed photo. Masked the photo, seamless tiled a section of the flowers, flood filled, place the layer underneath the masked layer, played with some effects. Brush strokes used in the frame.
Thank you so much Annie for the kind words on my page. Whereas you would use the eraser tool, I would use a mask, you should try it. I find I have more control of removing parts of an image, what’s more I can always go back at a later date and change what ‘ve done. Which you can’t do with the eraser tool. Either way, you did a superb job, and it’s down to personal tool preference. Beautifully executed my friend. Soon you will be getting out your winter clothes, while I will be getting out short and T shirts. The horses are shedding their winter coats too.
Annie, I’m lost of words, your latest pages are stunning! I assume that you use masks, and double masks, and play around with overlays and the blend modes. Creating pages like those, one needs a very keen eye for colour and detail. Superb creations!
I haven’t done an elaborate simple frame for a while, I’m back in that frame of mind, so to speak. I seem to go through phases. Anyway this was a project I did last night. The Juno was rather high up in the tree, a bit far away for the camera, so the photo isn’t that good, yet I still love the colours and textures of the photo. He’s all fluffed up, as it was cold. For the frame I used brush strokes, paste into selection, cut out, and a few more tools. I duplicated the photo, masked the photo, placed it on top of the duplicate image, used a blur and brush strokes on the duplicate layer to get the nice edge. Clip art I found on the net. Created word art, for an appropriate quote by a man I have respected and admired since I was a child. I must say I never use tutorials, other than Carole’s, It’s all trial and error until I’m happy with the result.
Peter, very nice. You are getting the hang of using psp, and feeling more confrontable using it. I name each layer when I have lots of layers that I’m working with in a particular project, for a few layers I don’t bother. It’s only through making mistakes that you learn, and won’t forget in a hurry. The only way now is forward for you, I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that we will be looking forward to seeing future projects from you in the campus. Same goes for all the other newbies. May I make one suggestion, and that is that you move the title below the gold element layer, as the text would be written directly onto the background paper. Also put a drop shadow on the multi coloured stars, perhaps you did, but it’s not very visible to me. Well done!
Thank you Carole. I also added instructions on how to place a selection of the photo above the frame. I’m always trying to think of different ways to showcase my photos.
This is only a thought but if it’s freezing only when you open a specific page. Go into pictures, and check the size of the file. Perhaps it’s a rediculously large file. Like 500Mb for instance.
Ann and Wendy, lovely work. The lifted corner is a great effect Ann. Cristina and I use that technique a lot. Carole has the lifted corner script, which will do either corner, or all corners. Wendy, you don’t need to make a Xmas card for 2021, you have a made a perfect card, to be send either by ecard or posted.
Here is my 5th and last page for the bootcamp. I always enjoy participating in challenges in the campus. I’d like to congratulate everyone that has taken part, and posted their pages. You have all done wonderful, creative pages, taking me on a journey around the world with you all. I’m not new to the campus, many of you know me for my love of taking nature photos, particularly birds and insects. For my final page, I chose this delightful little male Kinglet. I used colours from the photo using textures and overlays. I enjoy creating word art. For the tile I used the font Corona, with glyphs. I used one of Carole’s corner punch brushes on the paper under the photo. I created the frame myself, using effects, textures, sculpture, and chose a faint pattern closest to the lightest colour on the Kinglet. I have 2 extra tips for you. I also lifted the top left corner of the photo above the frame, by using the selection tool, selected a portion, promote to a new layer, placed the promoted layer above the frame. Of course it has to look realistic, and feasible, as if it was in real life. I also placed a thin orange line around the background paper. Select all, on a new layer contract by a few pixels, flood fill with orange, contract by a few pixels of choice, hit delete. A big thank you to Carole for running the bootcamp. Also Carole, thank you so much for your comment on my word art!
Annie, like Christina, I’m very flattered at your comments on my work. It’s a good way to start any day, with a morning cuppa while scrolling through the pages of countless creativity in the forum. Your out of bounds page is fantastic.
Christina. I have several of Carole’s bead scripts. They save a great deal of time. I can and do make my own, using a tutorial in the creative scrap. But I have to do each one individually, whereas the scripts will do a whole short sentence if need be. Likewise, I am a great fan of your work, and you inspire me too.
Everyone is doing a wonderful job on their pages, so much creative talent being displayed.
Jose, another beautifully executed page. The butterflies in the bottom photo are Pearly-eye. I enjoy photography, but I do have a passion for shooting the wonderful world of insects in macro.
