Marie-Claire, that’s my worst fear. Thank goodness you had a backup. What a hassle for you. Sometimes I wonder if I should back up my back up.
thanks Carole, I think I will ignore the ignore users. Everyone’s posts are valid and valuable. I want to read them all and see what they create. Just perusing the gallery and it is really nice to scroll through the pictures. looking forward to the tutorial.
Brian that is simply brilliant! no pun intended. It’s very realistic and has so much detail.
Corrie, one of my uploads (the watercolor one) showed the EXIF for my photo. I too thought that was weird because it was a layout and not a single photo. It’s a mystery. I too have no gallery experience and looking forward to getting my feet wet with this one.
Carole, should we keep uploading. Or keep it to a few until the gallery is in it’s final form. I wouldnt want to upload a bunch and then make it difficult for you to make changes.

Thank you Jannette. i bookmarked the site so I can check it out when I get out of my busy time. I sure could use a time saver.
Thanks Carole, I can freely upload them. Sorry, I thought the paint splash was germ. Must be the left from covid, makes me see virus/germs where there isn’t any.
Carole, will you be porting our images over or is it something we will do. it would be a huge amount of work for you wouldnt it. It’s going to be cool, in whatever way you make it work. I added two more layouts and commented on post…got badge for that! I was a failure at being a Brownie an had no badges, this is a turning point me. hahaha

Bonnie you are lucky! Under my profile I am a “newcomer” and my icon is an amoeba or a germ of some sort ?
OMG! I just noticed on the list in picture I posted…”ignored users”. Yikes!

I did a test upload in the tutorial section. Yes, I would love a tutorial on the whole thing. There is a lot of interesting things on there, like albums and those settings along the top. Eg. Set tags on all. I didnt tag because i wondered if it would tag every layout/photo I’d add to the forum. This was the postage stamp tutorial and I wanted to add that but thought it might show up on everything there after. Is there a way to also edit or add tags after I’ve uploaded. This is very exciting. I will be nice to see everyone’s pieces in one spot. Is there a limit to how much you can upload. Is “Members Albums” where you put layouts that dont fit the other catagories. This sure looks like a huge undertaking. Thank you. I cant wait to see it filled up.
Ann, wow! Reading that little black tag on your layout gave me goosebumps.
I look forward to seeing the exciting new changes. I especially look forward to the gallery.
Wow Harmony, you are braver soul than I ever could be. My stomach is turned just seeing you hanging off that building.
Here is my Day 7. The image is the poster for the show. It looks great on my screen but it’s a small image so doesn’t look to good here. I would translate if I could but I don’t read French. the funny thing was the director of the gallery wanted me to bring stuff in for sale in the gallery shop. I needed to be a member and all I needed to qualify as “French” is I had to be able to recite 7 sentences in French… I’m still working on it. It is a French gallery in the French Quarter of Edmonton, Alberta.
Carole: on the shadowing of the swirl look at the skinny parts. Is that shadowing okay or should I have pushed it up so it touches the swirl?
Here’s a fear that lasted into my 40’s at least. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not an anti smoker. I don’t care if people smoke (it’s their body and their choice), I just don’t want them sticking their hands in my mouth afterward. I also have a fear of needles, combine throwing up at the dentist with fear of needles and well, I don’t like dentists. I still go because I care about my health more than my fear. I’m older now and if I can withstand back surgery I can surely withstand a little needle now and then. Although, I would rather have 100 snakes all over me than get a needle (i like the feel so it’s not a fear)…it’s strange how irrational and yet paralyzing my fears are.
This is the first time I used one kit and one kit only (Jessica Dunn Snow Whispers from Digital Scrapbook). It was hard. Title font is Alosia and journaling is Arial. I did use the kerning and leading. I like that tutorial, it explained how to use it nicely.
Day 5 Food! Who doesn’t love food, as I type this I’m looking at Corrie’s Creme Brulee. Yum. Good luck Corrie on your upcoming surgery. Bonnie, I was a tom boy too. I played with the boys when the girls wanted to do girly stuff. I still don’t do girly stuff (what was considered girly stuff in 60’s – 70’s). I am inspired by all of your stories and layouts. I never realized when I signed up for this that I would love reading the stories as much as I do.
Here is my foodie layout…I am not a foodie, or cook. I am good at forgetting I’m cooking and burn a lot of food. Papers and elements from Digital Scrapbook. Arial for the font. Alpha letters from Cassel’s giveaway (thank you!). the ampersand (&) is from Gina Jones at Digital Scrapbook and I used hue/saturation/lightness to get it as close to the Cassel’s alpha color as possible.
Thank you Sue, for the explanation. Now I understand what you meant about the background layer, it just takes twice (or more) for the words to pernitrate my thick skull. Nice to see you are able to get out to photograph on your time away.
Ann, Buttonize? I saw that and didnt go near it because, well, I thought it turned stuff into a button. hahaha. I really did think that, why else would they call it that? I should’ve just tried it. I like the framed pieces you and Sue do and would like to try it too. But still not quite sure how to go about it. so much to learn and precious little time; retirement cant come fast enough.
Hi Suzy, I made the title from the tutorial in Notebook Lab 5-11. I think there might be a script in the store for it though, check with Carole. I like the greens too. The background paper with the chevrons is a gradient as it’s the Title. I am just leaving for work but can give you the RGB amounts from the top and the bottom part so you can set up a gradient and then take samplings of the hue you like. I wonder, can you open up the jpg from the campus into your PSP and do some sampling of colors that you like, if you need it faster? If not I can input those numbers when I get home.
Mary, I had a hard time with finding the Edge Preserving Smooth effect too. I have now forgotten again. Yeesh. Your Memphis watercolor layout looks fabulous.
Here’s my sports layout Day 4. I was an active kid and a somewhat weird kid (refer to second story in the paragraph). But Nadia and gymnastics was a big one for me. Nothing competitive, just me and my bestie learning some gymnastic moves. As a young adult I took up weightlifting (body building), something I do to this day. I wish Crossfit had been around when I started that would have suited me better.
Fonts are Puritan (journaling) and Gill Sans Ultra Bold. papers from digital scrapbook, olympic rings, map and picture of Nadia from google search. Stars are from the Carole’s template, they seemed to fit the page just how they were.
Bonnie, I had to laugh at your story. My brother and I and our friends used to eat these yummy grapes (that we stole from our neighbours vines (see I really am a thief!) and we’d suck out the inside and decided to throw the skins at passing cars. We threw them at a motorcyclist passing by and he stopped and we ran into your tin shed and he came and there was wire just inside the door that he grabbed and tied the doors shut. We were cowering in the back of the shed. My brother found the little hatchet and freed us. We never did that again!
Day 3 Story Time. My dirty little secret and my life (short life) of crime. I was never incarcerated (grounded) though. Whew!
I see some new layouts and cant wait to come back and read them.
Fonts used are Arial Rounded (journaling) and Arissa Typeface, that I scuffed up more with the eraser. Cogwheels are mine for Lab 5-12 (I believe). Background papers from Digital Scrapbook, except the red which is a flood filled layer. the red-yellow circle is a flood filled gradient representing my journey back to being a good girl. ?
oops, I see all kinds of grammar errors and wrong works used. Funny how you can read something over and over and still not see it until you post it. Now, “that’s” a crime!
Wow! Sue and Ann, beautiful. Sue I love that watercolor background, was it a paper you made. I was looking in textures trying to achieve that with the settings on certain textures but didnt quite get what I wanted. The framing looks great on both of your pieces.
Here is my Day two Story Time page. I used mostly elements from Digital Scrapbook “At the Fair” bundle from Sept 2014. The fonts are Algerian (1972) and Gill Sans Ultra Bold. My win today was remembering how to use the freehand selection without having to watch the video again. I’ll take the small wins, they will add up to a big win one day. What’s that saying…Save your pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves.
I am really enjoying reading everyone’s stories. I laugh along with the funny ones, want to to reach out and hug you with the sad ones and am generally amazing at all your life stories. You are an immensely interesting bunch that I’m glad to be a part of. I look forward to reading them tonight when I get home from work.
Forgot to add: this is a really busy page for me. Wonder if it will grow on me.

Beautiful Euka!
Corrie, that is really pretty.
Joyce, I dont think it’s gross. You need to convey in someway how hot it was. And you often see sweat drops on graphics to show heat or fear. Otherwise the viewer would never have known how hot it was.
Awesome Ann! I’m packing my bags and movin’ in. Sisters of the 60’s we can be.

Here is my story (and I’m sticking to it, hahaha). Sorry, it’s wordy, this is why I dont like to journal, I dont edit very well. I forgot to put my year of birth. It’s 1965. I had never used the freehand selection so was happy to see that demo, which I used for the first time here.
I have read and really enjoyed all your stories. Ann (without an E!), we have an area in the city (Edmonton) that is called Terwilliger. That area has a monthly newspaper that we printed (I work at a newspaper web press) called Terwilliger Times, I haven’t seen it for a while so not sure it’s still being printed.
I thought I signed up but no email this morning. I must not have. oops
I too didn’t think mine choice of brush was rotating. I checked the setting too, but figured it was something I was doing to make it seem that way. I cant remember if I was clicking and stopping or clicking and moving the mouse, probably a bit of both. I did go back and click here and there to fill in some spots. I got luck in how it turned out.
Thank you so much Marie-Claire. I think it turned out because I didnt really know what I was doing, crazily clicking away. We’ll call it a happy accident. Hope I can replicate it again. Yours and Julie’s are beautiful. It’s such a cool effect. I never tire of seeing pets either. Love that sun streak Julie.
What is “Edge Preserving Smooth” effect, and why/when do we want to use it? Is it something that we should be able to see? I used it in the tech/tut watercolor challenge but could see what it did once I clicked okay. I presume it does something that you don’t see but is integral to the process.
Marvin, so sorry for your loss. That is a very touching letter from you granddaughter. I do hope you can find a way to preserve it in a layout.
