Mary those Instant Effects are very cool. I would like to learn that too. I have joined you and Colin, and started today with the Labs. I think they are going to teach me a ton. And If I cant have a ton of money, then I’ll gladly take a ton of knowledge any day.
I started at the start, with Lab 5-9. Where I learned the following:
1) how to make multicolored dots for background paper. I learned about the Brush Variance Pallet and used Color Blend I think at 70%, then used a blend mode (“Burn” at 63% opacity) on the dots once they were on the background I chose for them.
2) Text Background Paper became my main subject. I had wanted to put a photo on but didnt want to cover up the “I” part (“I love you”).
3)Making eyelets and eyelet ribbon was quite enjoyable and a good practice for me with the magic wand and getting a better idea about inverting selections.
So Excited for Lynda and Sue! They are finalists in Corel’s Animal Photo Contest. Stunning photo’s. Congratulations!
Dont know where to post this. So excited! Lynda and Sue are finalists in Corel’s Animal photo contest. Congratulations! they are stunning photo’s!
Mary and Colin, I love seeing your Labs. I am motivated to take that direction too, after the busy two weeks I am having….excuses eh??.
Carole I was able to watch the whole Q&A through the Campus link. It was fabulous. Thank you for answering all my questions. Wish I was able to answer you back when you asked if I was there. Looking forward to the next one.
I agree with Pirkko, Colin. It’s nice and clean, just the way I like it too.
Oh wonderful! It plays for me. Thank you for all your work Carole, sorry my computer wasnt cooperating with the webinarninja. I’m off to bed and I am really looking forward to watching it tomorrow after work. Just looking at the TOC list you added looks very interesting.
Doesnt work to copy and paste. Not sure why. I havent had a problem before. Hope it’s a good one, I’ll catch it on the reply. Thanks Ann for replying to me.
I tried Edge and Google Chrome. Still nothing. bummer.
Is anyone having trouble logging on to the webinar today. None of my computers/laptop will do it. I just get the little ninja’s dots going back and forth.
I agree with Marvin. After watching the Mandala tutorial from Lab 12-6 I’m wondering how you figure out how to do all this magical stuff in PSP. The tools in PSP must be second nature to you. It’s really a marvel to watch.
Stunning Mandala’s from everyone. Pirkko, yours looks like lace, it’s so 3 dimensional. So interesting to see the variations on them. they look great in many colors or a solid and on black background. What a great card that would make at Christmas Sue.
Hi Rjay,
You have come to the right place. This is a very welcoming and sharing community. If you need help there is always Carole and the members at hand, to help out. I am fairly new to any form of graphics programs and was about to give up on learning one until I came across the Scrapbook Campus. I started with the Scrapbook Bootcamp workshop offered (for FREE!) several times a year. It is a great place to start and I cant imagine if I hadn’t taken the first one. The forums are a great place to meet members and learn and be inspired by them. And of course opting to being a Diamond member and having access to all the different tutorials/Labs and Master classes was well worth the investment for me.
After a good night sleep and nice walk more questions have popped into my head.
If I want to photograph my own elements, how do I take the JPEG photo and get a PNG with a transparent backgound. (by extracting?)
If I want to photograph textures to use as overlays, how do I make part of it transparent and part of it (the texture presumably) not transparent?
And finally, I looked at the optimizer buttons (JPG and PNG) that I put on my task bar but I don’t understand the options box that pops up that I have to choose. I don’t know what it all means and what settings I should use. Does this make a zip file? or just compress it? I think what I would like to learn is how to put a bunch of large images into a zip file so people can open and see the larger, nicer file than the 600×600 ones I would normally send. I know, this is probably pretty basic and everyone knows this, except me. ?
I’m just throwing questions out there, and not all need to be answered at this time.
That’s one I’ve been wondering about. I havent made enough masks on my own (without instructions) to really understand it well enough to figure out the difference. I am looking forward to Sunday.
When you make a mask, sometimes you “hide all” and sometimes you “show all”. What is the difference between the two and what makes you choose to use one over the other.
The other question I had was about changing color. What color change tools do I use for retaining texture. There is often talk of all these different tools used for changing color and I get confused when and which tool I’m supposed to use. There is also tool I’ve never heard of. How many ways is there to change the color of paper/element and is it different if you need to retain the texture of the element. When to lock transparency and when not too. I did see you had a blog post on one very recently so I will look at that and perhaps all my questions would be answered in past posts or masterclasses. I would like to compile a cheat sheet of what color change tools to use in various situations. Does this make any sense?
In the file Locations box I have the top two files being: users/susan/documents/corel …etc. the folder under Corel is 2022 and one is Purchased. I did not put these on my computer as I don’t use the C drive for data. Does Corel do this automatically. Can I get rid of it from my C drive, and then remove them from the File Locations list? Or is it even worth doing that. I think only one thing was saved in workspaces and the rest of the folders were empty.
Wow Brian! That is really impressive and I enjoyed refreshing the page to see all the surprises. You’ve used so many techniques, it’s inspiring.
B = Bridle
Q = Quarter Horse
Love your birds of the day Ann, they are very motivating. And Lynda I love that Moonlight layout. Wordframe 5 is really versatile. Cant wait to have the time to play. There’s a saying, “Fish and visitors stink in 3 days”. Wonder what it’s going to be like by the 12th day! hahaha.+
this is cool, from both of you (Suzy, Sue). I will be looking this one up too! And I want to do the tutorials as well. I like the idea of using scripts to save time but also would like to be able to do the techniques as well.
Very well said Sue. Even years later you can visualize their huge personalities. I marvel at the fact of how we can mange to communicate with our animal family and can “see” how they are feeling and you sure know when they are “off”. Still, when they are gone, I miss them terribly. I’ve worked/lived on several horse breeding farms in the very distant past (in BC) and they have wildly different personalities than each other and it’s a marvel to learn that and interact with them based on their personality. I have loved horses all my life and that quote at the bottom really hit home. When my company is gone I might dig out my albums and see if there is anything worthy of a layout (mostly I shot slides back then).
Sue, that is beautiful and heartfelt. I love the quote at the bottom. So sorry for your recent losses.
G = Gallop
5pm eastern time works really well for me. I’m always at home by that time. Luckily it’s before I make dinner too.
Sue, you have the bestest of friends. And I bet they make for good nature therapy too. One province over and such different species of birds. I love hearing your stories about them, they are characters. My little back yard is the feeding ground for the magpies and a crow pair (and all the little birds too). The magpies toe the line when the crow is around, but they are cheeky and push the limits with the crow. The crow doesn’t even leave the bird bath when I come home from work and walk past him, only 3 feet away. The full size version must be stunning and filled with detail.
Lynda and Sue, HOLY WOWZERS! Love your Corel contest photo’s. Super inspiring and Sue, a close up glimpse of insects that we rarely get to see, let alone spend time really looking at for a longer period of time.
I’m really enjoying everyone’s posts too. I’m busy getting ready for company (which I havent had for well over 2 yrs ?), a dear friend in town to set up her art exhibition. I cant wait to get back to some PSP time.
