I thought I would try to combine something from the basic scrapbook class a couple of weeks ago with last Sunday’s Master Class on Christmas # 5. The 2 small Christmas trees are from last Sunday’s class that I applied to the sunset scene.
I was able to make a *.png image using Christmas balls 2 script and the Seamless Script that I purchased in the store today. It took me a long time to figure out you must save it in png format or probably jpg to be able to copy it to the clipboard and be able to paste it into your project. Carole, thank you for all your help regarding the “Store” today.
I used some features of different Bootcamp days. Thanks to everyone for the ideas seeing your work.
Carole, thanks for the excellent video again. I’m sure all of us know we could not come close to completing these projects without them.
Carole, on the Eraser tool I used a rotation of 25 on the middle one instead of 45. I liked the way it was sort of “uneven”. I did use the Shift tool to make it go end to end but on an end it may have left a point or spike? so I snipped it off here and there. On the upper one I used a rotation of 75. I wanted to make it a little uneven and see what would happen. Thank you for asking.
Added a couple of elements and sorry for the repeat post.
I had begun on this project before today’s lesson so tried to modify it with the scalloped edges, frames, a little different placement of the pictures. Carole, thank you again for the tutorials. I have been saving them and hopefully will be able to hear them again whenever I would like?
I think I found it? Effects—Artistic Effects—Chrome……..I changed the color to one of the default settings, used the dropper tool to see what specific color that was and after locking the transparency layer added that color to the Element “B”. I did notice one of the default colors had a “wire” type of effect. Is that what you meant?
Carole thank you for the advice. Is there something in tips and tutorials about Chrome Effect? I don’t see it in your book, “Tips and Tricks for Paintshop Pro”
I thought I would try to use small bird images instead of the flower, mmmmm……..just a little tooooo “girly” for me as Carole stated. Smile. I also thought I would try an element for the letter B and by using the transparency lock tool was able to darken it and with the Drop Shadow made it a little wider? The pictures were from my 3 broods of bluebird nests I was fortunate enough to have this year. I feed them mealworms in a hanging feeder on the back porch and they stay the winter. I started with 2 pair last year, had 12 fledglings but I think most of them find other housing so as not to interbreed.
I discovered I could use the “Scratch Removal” tool on the layer that has the periphery leaves and not worry about removing anything else. I think I like it better without the decorations over the water.
Ann, I think the photo you “borrowed” and helped to clarify looks fantastic.
Some of the tables are amazing, not sure how you did it!
Carole, Koi have been known to live as long as 200 years but the average lifespan is 20 to 50. When we first bought them they were a maximum of 4 to 5 inches. When the temperature in the water dips below 55 degrees F, I stop feeding them. I won’t feed them again where I live until most likely early March. They go into a state of dormancy like hibernation and mostly lie on the bottom even though the pond may be frozen everywhere except where running water from a fountain, etc. is running freely. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the project.
The sunset project I made but tried to follow your instructional video using different textures such as the tan band horizontally near the top and adding an element, a *.png file for the outline around the periphery. I had forgotten to use a drop shadow around the date, but later added one. I remembered I had downloaded some “Thanksgiving” *.jpg files and wanted to use them plus since my son is coming for Thanksgiving this week I thought it may be a good way to utilize both.
The sunset is from my son’s home in Florida. The pictures along the band at top are from Studio Backlot and the texture is from Topaz Labs.
De you live in a beautiful place.
For my 2nd project I used three grunge backgrounds, a picture of my 5 koi, the oldest which is 13 and the youngest 10. After adding the elements I wanted to remove the border around the photo so I used the copy tool on one of the grunge backgrounds and used it on the photo layer to hide the edges. I then used the push tool to try to blend the edges into the background around the photo. Again, Carole, thank you for your excellent instructional video.
I wanted to make the large letter A more visible so used the transparency lock to color it Yellow with some black highlights. I wanted to see if I could decrease the stroke on the other letters but cannot seem to highlight the text. Any suggestions?
I used some elements from DesignCuts, the corners, birds, acorn, the leaf, and the letter A. The background was made from Carole’s class on “Messy backgrounds” a couple of weeks ago. DesignCuts will send a “freebie” every Friday. Carole, thank you again, you made it easy following your excellent video.

Although I have been using PSP for a couple of years, I always find something new when I follow daily. I’m using PSP 21 with the black background, new materials palette, history palette, autohide the Organizer palette. I thought I would use some childhood photos of my daughter, approximately 30 years ago!
I wanted to display a “reason” for the slanted December Text. I duplicated the photo layer, used the Selection tool and drew the area I wanted and used what Carole suggested as the feathering at 80. Copied and pasted it into the new layer.
Karon, thank you for your comments.
Sharon, please look at the dates for Nov. , and Dec. That is what I had done. The template was apparently from 2018 but when I looked up Thanksgiving for 2020 I knew the dates on the calendar for 2021 were incorrect.
Jnet, thank you for your kind comments too. I really like the gradient you used. That isn’t easy as I’ve found out! Still having problems with a specific color, adding a gradient and adding a Texture at the same time. Anyone with a specific class that I may watch. I have looked at the one on “Gradients” and Carole is ahead of me (ha, as she always is).
I wanted to thank those of you who used text for specific dates on the calendar. I have learned more about using the text tool. I finally figured out I needed to duplicate the dates section first. Thanks again.
I just realized when I first put together November it was the template from 2018. That was fine until I discovered the dates were not correct for the 2021 November Calendar! I started over and glad I didn’t send out copies with the wrong dates. I decided to use photos of my grandparents and my wife’s mother and father. Susan, we are in Suwanee, so nice to meet. And Carole? SORRY for the “feminine” nature of the Texture! (You will definitely know what I’m referring to. ha!)
Carole, thank you for pointing out the template for December was the wrong year. I changed the one for December but kept the older one for November. I used a photo with the dates and moved the opacity down a little for the photo. Three of the photos are from Studio Backlot and the fireplace is our home. I finally learned by trial and error how to outline the text by increasing the value of “stroke”. I am still having problems figuring out to use the Foreground or Background for Color plus Gradient??
Cassel, I want to thank you for this project. They were specific instructions that allowed me to complete each month and use the photographs I have taken over the past year and display pictures that were restored. It is the most complete attempt I have been able to accomplish with PSP and I thank you again.
The birds are bluebirds.

I think this has been the best scrapbook project for me to learn different techniques. My problem is that if I don’t use them all the time I forget the specific steps but I guess you could say that about a lot of things. Ha.
On Day 5, I cannot get the flood tool to fill the boxes all at once but must do it individually. Does anyone know why? I have gone through the steps as written but no matter what I do it will not fill all the boxes (dates) at the same time? Thanks.
This is a photo copied from ancestry.com. I used Topaz Labs Gigapixel to enlarge before converting to a Tiff file. I brought it into PSP and used Color-Fade, sharpen, AI Denoise…..I did use the Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Sharpen AI but I think the best sharpening was done by PSP. In the very bottom left you can make out the date, Dec., 26, 1896. It certainly must have been a huge family event to state a photographer, a day after Christmas.
Mary, thank you.
Thanks Michele, Bonnie, I just ordered her book. Thank you for your advice.
