Hi folks,
This has been fun, I hope to be able to complete this calendar in time to gift it to family members for Christmas. The purpose for me is to help my family remember important dates like birthdays and anniversaries. The calendar will have only the family special dates highlighted and pictures to remind them of who the dates are about. Since we have no family special days in January, I just created a page with pictures of my neighborhood. I live near Pikes Peak in Colorado!
Hi friends,
I posted this someplace else, and in case you could not see it, I asked Carole and she graciously sent me a link.
Here is my belated project #4 with pictures of my recent trip to Israel. I got back just in time!
There was a little problem with the autofill on the picture with the big sky. Opacity problem?
Stay safe,
Hello Friends,
Here is my project #2 created for my daughter and her husband who live in NYC, hope it inspires them as I pray for their protection and sanity through this.
Slowly catching up, enjoyed revisiting my recent trip!
Hello Scrapbookers,
Here is my attempt at making a sandwich… I like your table cloths.
Give me a clue on how you are doing that.
Thanks.
Liese
Hello Scrap Booking friends,
I am jumping in late here, however my travels are over for a while and I want to catch up. Carole, thank you for your help and patience. Looking forward to jumping in!
In the meantime here are some travel pics that I want to use.
Hi friends,
Here please find my attempt at the 4th project. I saved my work and could not find the layers to put in the drop shadows. The only reason that the text and the owl have drop shadows is that I added them later and the layers were available on the layers palette to add the shadows. Not sure what I did wrong, maybe because of the way I saved my work?? Anyway, here it is. My son and his wife and the kids came for a visit and they were all sick. They generously shared it with me, I am recovering nicely.
Oops, no shadows on this version, and as you can see, the borders on the pictures are transparent, instead of opaque… that was another area of difficulty for me. I am wondering if it is in the settings.
Hi friends,
Finally I got to work on and complete Day 5. It took a couple of tries. I enjoy this work very much and want to continue as time allows. I made a page of a trip to NYC where I met up with my daughter. Good memories.
Can we finish this tutorial at our own pace or is there a time limit? I ask because my house will be full in a couple of days with Lemon and her family visiting. I will have to manage my time well.
Thanks for your excellent tutorials, I jump back and forth between your lessons and my work and find that every word you say is something to pay attention to. You take us in incremental steps, so helpful!
Hi Carole,
I am again running into trouble with the text tool. I did create a screen shot per your instructions however, now what, how do I get it into this space? So I tried to copy and paste the image onto a word doc to attach here, but have no idea why it did not show up in my picture file or in a document folder where I tried to save it. Maybe my problems are Windows 10 related.
At the top of my project it said Promoted Selection. the page was not acting like it does on your tutorial, so I know something is not right.
I need some help!
Thanks
Hello friends,
Here is lesson 4! I do feel like it is taking a bit less time. Text is still a challenge.
Hope you like it!
Figured out my mistake! Hallelujah!
I did not pick the area on my project, I was just highlighting it on the layers palette.
So here is the final copy of Lesson 3. I will sleep well tonight and not toss and turn over it!
The text was a bit tricky for me… I think that my mistake was not to put the second text which is on top on a new layer or sublayer…Then when it came to putting in the shadows… it would not do it! The boxes on the left were hidden which would show my layers, so I am going to go back to the earlier tutorials to see what I did to make them disappear!
I am my own worst enemy in going tooooo fast!
I will not quit …
Hi Carole,
I am going to start fresh on Lesson 3. Thanks for the CZ tip, you saved me hours!! So in discussing this with my husband, he suspects that I have a problem with filing and retrieving. Maybe there is a tutorial on that subject.
I will take notes this time. Reading the messages in the forum this weekend also gave me encouragement.
Thanks, so glad that I am a part of this group!
PS Do not know how to do a screenshot on my laptop!!! yikes
What does control Z do???
I agree on the text, being too thin, but I could not get back in to make the changes, it was attached to the background rather than being on its own layer.
The drop shadow will be my next thing to master. My plan is to stay on lesson 3 until I feel like I have got it down.
Thank you for your support!
Liese
Hi Carol,
I don’t know what I did wrong, so I kept trying and it worked out. Here is what I have accomplished in my first scrapbook page. This morning I tried to open it and change the text and add her name. The text tool was not highlighted and I thought that maybe I saved it in a format that would not allow changes…
Again thanks for your patience, it is so fun when you get it and then the next roadblock appears. Learning is a continual process of going forward, stop, think, learn and forward again…
You are a good teacher!
Having a little trouble with lesson 3, I downloaded the picture of Lemon into PSP and resized it. When I tried to download the paper from the addon freebie and tried to use PSP to open it, I got a warning on my PSP page:
Unable to open the file,
Please verify that the file is valid.
So Lemon is ready, just no paper to stick her on! HELP
The baby is Lemon my first grand daughter, she is now almost 5 months old and the pictures are piling up!
Thankfully my daughter in law is good at taking lots of wonderful pictures because they live far away.
Hi Friends,
Carole, thank you for your email. Your instructions are so clear and detailed… thanks a million!
My sandwich is open faced with a pickle on top! Trying to watch my carbs.
Today was a sketching day. I go to the Garden of the Gods Colorado Springs, CO and practice sketching,
Had a nice hike as well since the weather was good.
Found it! I am so glad you are taking it easy and slow…. I am such a beginner! I do prefer the light grey workspace and white background to my photos. I was able to mess around with the palettes, and uncheck the tabbed windows.
Thanks!
I am using Paint Shop Pro 2019 Ultimate and it looks like you are doing this tutorial in the same program. Mine looks different and I am going to play with it now and see if I can find a similar start up page as what I saw on the video.
Thanks for the lesson today,
Looking forward to learning how to use PSP and get my scrap booking done at the same time.
Soooo glad to get started. Just recently stepped over in grandmahood so the timing is perfect!
