Here is my day 2 February Calendar showcasing Castle Linderhof. It is situated in southwest Bavaria near the village of Ettal. This glamorous royal castle is 15 km from the Bavarian town of Oberammergau. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one which he lived to see completed. It was also his favorite castle. Last time I toured it was in 1986 and I loved it. My January Calendar page shows Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein castle. Thank you Carole for inspiring all of us.
Carole, you are right about the shadow and the link. The text in my PSP X9 was so small so when I started with PSP23 last week I was able to increase the text and the link icon on the shadow layer was so much more visible now. I should have double checked my old PSP one more time. It just looked strange to me when I saw it. I will try to get my February page up soon. You mentioned the UWP character map, where can I get one of those. The character map I have on Windows 10 is hard to read the letters are very small. I may be behind a bit with my calendar pages as I just started a course in Criminal Justice at work, but I will do the best I can. I love looking at everyone’s beautiful calendar pages.
I love Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books.
Thank you Lynda. I like your your January page showing the Mitchel Corn Palace too, it is beautiful. The castle is called Neuschwanstein and it is one of King Ludwig’s Castles. It is nestled in the Bavarian Alps, south of Munich and inspired Walt Disney to create the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disney World.
Here is my Calendar so far for January. My theme for this calendar will be Castles and Fortresses in Germany. I used a background from Digital Scrapbooking and the Samantha Upright font. Found out that the drop shadow works a bit differently in PSP 2023. When placing the shadow on a new layer it shows that it is linked.
I have sorted through some pictures that I may use for this calendar. downloaded the templates and will start watching the video tutorial tomorrow. The Templates look really nice. and will be fun to do. Thank you Carole!
I have registered and look forward to start on a new calendar. I really enjoyed the calendar workshop last year. Thank you Carole. It will be fun to see what everyone will be doing. I have not decided yet what my theme will be.
Congratulations Fiona! I am very happy for you.
Hang in there Fiona and check Carole’s hints again. I am sure you will find the answers. Sometimes when we look too hard we cannot see the answer right in front of us. Good Luck!
Just keep patiently digging through everything and you will find them.
Hi Susan. I also found a lot of interesting PSP tips that I am eager to try. I just finished putting the puzzle pieces together and that was fun too. I think we all picked up a lot of new and helpful tips by just hunting for the puzzle pieces. That was a great idea Carole had.
I just found Number 12 and have all the pieces. I just had to try and look harder. Now, I am off to my meeting. Will work on the puzzle pieces later. Thank you Carole, that was so much fun.
I stayed up late last night and enjoyed the hunt. I got all of them except Number 12. I looked and looked until my eyes were sore, but I am not giving up, it is too much fun. I just got home from work and wanted to hunt some more, but remembered I have a meeting, so I will continue the hunt later. I cannot imagine where that number 12 is hiding. Probably in plain sight. Thank you Carole for providing this enjoyable activity for us.
Looking forward to it! Thank you Carole!
Question for August 14 Q & A
What is the best way to install the New PSP 2023 Upgrade? I currently have PSP X9 and have copied the default folders per your tutorial (Keeping your PSP supplies organized) to another place on my computer. These Resource (Supply) folders contain my PSP files like scripts, brushes, plugins, tubes, etc. and I can point the upgrade to those folders. What else do I need to to watch for, so that I install the new version correctly? I intent to keep the PSP X9 on my computer also, just in case. Thank you!
Thank you Margaret Newcomb. I appreciate it. 🙂
After winning the recent Cassel Vine Tubes I was inspired to play with them using the Vector tube script. For the layout I selected one of the extra templates from the Template workshop in April. The image is from The Spruce about beautiful garden pathways. I added a garden gate image from my files. The papers are from Digital Scrapbooking (Jessica Dunn). Thank you Carole for the helpful tips on how to use the vector tubes script with the vine tubes. I used the pen tool to create a path on the gate and ran the script twice, once with green leaves and then pink. I also ran the script on the letter V in the title for which I chose a plain font to work better with the vine. Added a few more vines and used Cassel’s Custom Confetti script on the red leaves so I could scatter them around. I had a lot of fun with this project.

While I was working from Home, Prince YaPurr helped with paperwork and made sure I did it correctly.
Princess Natasha is enjoying the Opera “AIDA” with me as it is streaming from the Metropolitan Opera. Natasha loves the Egyptian stage set. Actually, all my fur-kids seem to enjoy Grand Opera and they show up to listen. I think they may even have their favorite composer. =^!!^=
Here is my Day 7 Template project. I used the papers from Marisa Lerin’s kit offered with the lesson. I decided to go with garden flowers and used elements and ribbons from Jessica Dunn, Janet Kemp, Sheila Reid, Marisa Lerin and Melo Vrijhof at Digital Scrapbooking. I used the Hue and Saturation tool on the red background and on one of the ribbons and the Hue map on the watering can. I did not have a wood panel pattern, so I looked for wood panel colors on line and used one of them to make a background graphic I could use with the pattern option in PSP for the text. Thank you Carole for these workshops. I have learned so much about PaintShop Pro and I enjoy every one of the classes and the workshops.
Templates – Day 6: I used some of the papers and elements from the Janet Scott Mini-Kit Elegant Autum. One of the photographs is mine showing our Bella. She loves to jump up to the bookcase looking for a good “Read” preferably one about cats. The other one I found on Canva under Library images. The font is Shenandoah Clarendon Bold which is a bit like the Clarendon Blk Carole used. I could not resist to add a bookworm from my graphics file. I added Hue and Saturation to it for better blending. Currently, I am in a book club called “Bookworms” so this lesson was just perfect. Thank you Carole for another great Workshop during which I enjoyed learning many new PSP skills and shortcuts. I will be working on my final Day-7 tomorrow.
Template – Day 5.
This took me a while but it was a lot of fun and so many new things to learn. I looked at the small Photo boxes then I had an idea. Some time ago, I had download some cat faces from Melisa Riddle at Digital Scrapbooking and I decided to place them on some of the background papers from Marissa Lerin’s kit. The hardest part is always finding pictures for a project. The yellow RicRac is from Janet Scott at Digital Scrapbooking. The gold paw-print on one of the flowers is one of my graphics. Font is Carolina Script.
Regarding Vector layers: I just figured it out and found it has always done that. When I added a vector layer it puts the small arrow on the left side of the layer palette just like with a group. I just never paid attention to it and now with closing groups and merging groups I started to notice the little arrows. I could have saved myself a lot of time if I had thought about it and looked at my earlier projects. Guess I was just getting very tired and it looked odd to me. Will get a fresh start tomorrow with Templates Day 5. Everyone’s projects here look very beautiful.
Here is my Template Day-4:I had a lot of trouble with the the text tool and finally finished it. It seems that all of a sudden my PSP started acting up and whenever I started to write the text as a vector it turned it into a group and placed a text layer underneath the vector layer. Even when I just added a vector layer it formed a group. I worked around it and hope someone will have a suggestion for that. I used the background paper from the tutorial (Rachel Martin) and used Hue and Saturation to blend well with my pictures. I took those many years ago when I visited my cousins in Germany and we went for a drive to the beautiful Lake Constance in the city of Lindau. Lake Constance (known as Bodensee in German) is a 63km-long central European lake that borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland and it is fed by the Rhine River. It is composed of 2 connected parts, the Untersee (lower lake) and the larger Obersee (upper lake). Ringed by resort towns, it’s a summer destination for sailing, windsurfing and swimming. The Bodensee-Radweg cycle path encircles the entire lake in about 260km.
Here is my Template for Day 3. I love both scripts, one can save so much time by using them. I had bought the ClipIt script and downloaded the free open as Layer scripts a while ago and today with your helpful video tutorial I used them both and placed a star for the Open As Layer script in my toolbar. The ClipIt will go there also. Thank you Carole for showing us how easy it is to use them. The photograph shows some of the deer that visit our backyard, because they know I always have a treat for them. The Font is Segoe UI Semibold. I also played with the blending modes and that was fun too.
Here is my project for Templates Day 2. I used Jessica Dunn’s mini-kit from the lesson and changed some of the colors a bit to blend with my photos. I love using the white outline, it makes the text pop. I also found it quite helpful to merge the group which saved a lot of time with the drop shadows. Thank you Carol for another great lesson.
Here is my Bonus Template for Day 1. The storms have left Central Texas and I am happy to be able to continue with the templates. The Paris picture is from PinInterest. 2 of the papers (Flowered and striped) are from Digital Scrapbooking and the pink and grey paper I made by selecting colors on the picture. Font is Fiolex Girls, and I added inner bevel and drop shadows to all. Tried to use a different color on the texture bubbles, but ended up keeping the white. This was a lot of fun and I learned a much easier way to fit papers and pictures to a shape. Thank you Carole!
Here is my project for Templates Day 1. We received Tornado warnings here in the Texas are, so I will post this and shut down computer. Hope all goes well.
I am in and looking forward to it.
