OK, I am working on completing the set I began in March of the trip my brother and I took to the Glass Bridge in 2014. It seems that I need to do 2 layouts to finish the trip and this is the one just before we stopped in Kingman, AZ for the road north to the Glass Bridge. I don’t remember all that I used for this layout but the majority of it came from Gina Jones Pretty Bird kit.
Lynda, I like your John Prine. I hope you don’t mind, I am going to print this out and give it to my daughter. She is a great fan of John Prine.
Annie: Do you create a color pallet from a picture? It seems that the color pallet you used is from the picture you show.(?)
Annie – love your last 2 layout postings. I guess I’ll have to play around a lot. don’t know where to begin commenting on them – just love what you are doing.
Sue, that is a gorgeous scene (fall is one of my favorite seasons – I guess because of the vibrant colors – even the sky is a vibrant blue). The layout is perfect for it and I like the red on the tag . Evidently you used what you learned from the webinar on the background paper??? I finally learned that you had to close all the layers above the one you want to flood fill!
Minka, thanks. I, too, wish to comment on the beautiful layout you did for Johnny Cash. Loved the scroll you used to backdrop the pics and elements; also loved the letters – with the “line” in the background. Everything worked.
Ann, thanks for your comments. I remember “State Fair” also – it may have been the 1st movie of Rogers & Hammerstein that I saw (way back when). Enjoyed the 1st one more than the last one that was made with Ann Margaret.
First off – love the postings you have been doing Minka and Ann. As always you all are very professional in output and I too remember those songs and the feelings they portray.
Well, I have been trying to post my latest: You’ll Never Walk Alone. I don’t know if it’s because of the overlay I used or something that happened during the night to my machine, but I have had trouble getting this off the ground. Maybe that’s a sign????? Anyway, Rogers and Hammerstein have always been my favorite team in the music world as I love all the work they did. Hammerstein knew how to inspire with his words – almost every one of their musicals had an inspirational or thought provoking theme and song. This is one of my favorites. What I am trying to express is the emotions and thoughts that go through you when you are faced with life’s storms and so I did not use shadows this time – everything is to portray the thoughts and emotions you feel. So let me try again (I reduced the size even further in case that was the problem with uploading).
My Song Challenge is “I’ll Walk With God”. Mario Lanza is one of my favorite singers. He sang this for the movie The Student Prince. The background is a photo of sand from Clipart Library. The picture is from the web; the frame by PSP. The flowers are from Pixel Scrapper – apjess; the narrative is from the web; the paper for the narrative is by Gina Jones – Pretty Bird; the lace ribbon is by Cass-Fire & Ice (colored purple by me); the title font is Lucida Calligraphy 72 and the narrative font is Arial 14.
Ann – Love the title in the woman’s boot!
Finally finished Lab 5 Module 11. Made the chevron paper, the eyelet ribbons (eyelet at top is from Lab 5 1st module), used a gradient for the chevron paper (made several colors of chevron papers), fishies are from PSP picture tube, segoe script is the narratgive, the arrow is from a scrapbook kit (sorry I don’t remember which one) but I colored it black.

Just thought I would post the 2 cards I worked on the end of March. Zach really liked his card – his 8th grade graduation with his mom (obviously during 2020 lockdown). The Christmas Rose photo was taken on a visit to Mandeville friends.

Minka – lovely layout for the giraffes.
Corrie – really like your elephant layout (and the story).
Lynda – always enjoy what you produce. And speaking of Johnny Appleseed, whatever happened to Jonathon apples???? They were always my favorite, whether for apple pie or just for eating – firm flesh and not too sweet. I haven’t seen them in the grocery for years.
M= Monkey
Peter, I’m not sure, but I don’t see the rectangle in your screenshot. I had that trouble with mine also, but what I did when I tried again was placing the cursor just INSIDE the rectangle instead of on top of the side of the rectangle. Try putting it just inside the rectangle and see if that works.
Thanks, Carole, for the info. As I suspected – I just have to use it and forget the mouse. I did notice that you could do just about anything you can do with a mouse when I was trying to use it in the lab work. I see that Ann Seeber was putting it beside the keyboard. My tablet is so big that I tried to put it on the keyboard shelf and the keyboard above it which didn’t work too well as you still need the keyboard. You said that you angle yours – I think I will try that as I usually angle my keyboard anyway. Thanks for the help (and I really KNEW that nothing works like PRACTICE!).
Carol, I think it is mainly using it especially with PSP. I think you use yours mainly or so I think I remember you saying so. I tried to use it in Lab 5 to do the crayon edging and that went “kinda OK” but I know that “Painting” in PSP (and Painter Essentials which comes with PSP) should be easier with the tablet. The Wacom seemed to me to be expensive at the time so I opted with XP-Pen. I couldn’t seem to have any luck with using it for anything else so I put it away and have been using the mouse as usual since.
Sheila – that is fantastic! I have learned to do some things with the mouse that I didn’t think could be done, but nothing like what you have achieved. And, yes, I have a tablet, but not a wacom. And I, too, would like some help from Carol on using one.
I guess I’m relaxing today. Anyway, I’m enjoying seeing everything everyone is working on and presenting. Corrie – love your #1 and how you presented it – love the colors – wild flowers are really so beautiful – even the small ones that manage to elude the lawnmower in our yard.
Annie – you always come up with something unusual. Meant to comment on your Victorian artwork you posted in another forum here – really lovely and “chic”. Your Number 1 in this forum is really unique also.
Ann Seeber, I’m a fan of Ray Bradbury & 451 F and Martian Chronicles are thought provoking. Have you ever read or seen the movie of The Electric Grandmother? Done well by Maureen Stapleton.
Ann Lamp – 50 wonderful years – how great. Love the 2 pictures you have in this layout.Raymond, so glad to see you back. I especially like your Salt Lake Grill layout. But, Easter with Jesus is great too. I think I know where you got the two bunnies and I’ve seen that pic of Jesus in many places. Good for you! Are the 2 children your grandkids? They’re sure sweet.
Ron, I like your Project 5. Now, who is the recruit?
Lynda, as usual – way to go! Love your moon shot as well as your display of it!
Sue T., Great what you do with birds and frames. I especially like your posting of the Mallard Duck. Well done!

Annie, I am amazed with what you do! The font is beautiful- and you created it!!! You are certainly one talented lady.
I want to comment on what the rest of you have done and are doing in these last days of March. (My, TIME FLIES!)
However, I learned the hard way that if you leave the page you are on, your note in progress goes away. Maybe I’ll learn how to get around it some day.
Thanks, Sue. It sure is great what we are learning from each other. I have yet to “help” anyone. But, hey, I will go back to the Labs and see what I can come up with. One of the things I learned from the labs is to make a tube with an element that begins small and increases in size (to a limit) before it goes back to small again. I did it with red hearts.
Project 5. Finally complete. Kit used was Songbird So Thankful. Thanks, Carole, for all the freebies. The background, blocks, paper behind the photos, heart button, puffy clip were all from the kit. However, the background was from Pixel Scrapper – Jessica Dunn – and I colored it coral. The title is Schneidler Blk BT and the texture I used was PSP’s Pattern 3D Waves. The descriptive text is Segoe Script. I know I used 3 pics instead of 1, but I needed to do that for the set I have been working on. I will do another 3 picture project similar to what we have been doing because we also went to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and down Red Rock Canyon before we went to the Glass Bridge. When I do it, I will post it on what are you doing in April.
Sue – Love your Canadian geese. Where or how do you find loose sand?
So now to Project 4 and only one more to go. Continuing on with the Rte. 66 trip with my brother in 2014. The background and the striped paper is from Helpful from Rush Ranch. The dark paper I created. The ribbons are from Cass Fire & Ice (I changed the color on the duplicated ribbon). The car is from my stash; the butterflies are from a PSP picture tube and each one is on a separate layer. The scatter beads are also from Helpful from Rush Ranch. The title is Kneware Outline 72, the description is Segue Script 14.
Hi, everyone. Well, I’m back and now am only on Project 3 of Bootcamp. Lots of stuff seem to interfere. Well, I will concentrate tomorrow on Project 4 and 5. Tried to keep to the picture connected with the project. I’m trying to keep to the theme I’ve chosen – trip to the Glass Bridge with my brother in 2014. Seems I am using different background papers (including the color of the background papers) for each project. But I guess that is OK. Something new I learned this time (guess I missed it last time) and that was instead of making a rectangle on the paper, make the rectangle where you want to put it on the main project and while keeping the paper or tile open, choose pattern in the pallet and pick it out of the list and flood fill the rectangle on your main project. Neat. I have been a favorite of Ctrl + Y ever since I learned it. What a time saver – just have to be careful that you are working with the same kind of object as the previous one.
Again, everyone has posted such neat projects. Love the forum – we are sharing ideas as we post.Okay. Finally here is Adventure – Project 2?? I’ve lost track. Maybe I am getting too picky. got some help from Rookie??? Laurie on this one. Don’t remember exactly what I’ve done since this has been a work in progress for too long!!
Love all that has been posted since I last posted. Everyone’s doing GOOD.Incidentally, The Glass Bridge is on the Hualapai Indian Reservation. The bridge is actually acryllic and not glass. They make you take off your shoes and put on booties that will not scratch the surface. You see down, down, down into the canyon where the Colorado River is just before making the bend into the border between Arizona and California. It was awesome! They also have a mock up of an old western town at the same place. There was a singing cowboy there who played some of the OLD western songs just for me. Loved it.

Thanks, Ann Seeber. Also, like your Rockin Robin. But I have to say that I like the other projects you post, also. Laurie, like what you did with your Hiking the Trails.
Thank you, Corrie. Love your easter card. Yes, thanks to Sue Thomas for that oval lace mask.
