Susan Ewart: My daughter-in-law, Laurie, who has a BS in Graphic Design, tells me that this is a course in graphic design.
And this is P is for Prairie.
Carole – thank you for the gifts you give us all through the year. I am thankful to be a part of your far-flung family. Merry Christmas to you and your family – those close at hand, and those far away.
Still working on the Alphabet Challenge started early in 2022. I’m only on O, but plodding my way through. O is for Oklahoma. All the elements are my own except the state flag (got it on the internet), the map of Oklahoma (got it on the internet also), and the picture of the buffalo in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Preserve (got it on the internet also). Love google.
Weather patterns are so interesting. We in Memphis, TN (middle of the USA) we had a drop of about 50 degrees in one day (yesterday – Thursday). Some here lost power briefly today (Friday), but essentially we are OK. Churches and other institutions opened their doors for those who needed a heated place to stay.
Merry Christmas to all.
Praying for you and your family, Cindy.
Thanks, Michele. appreciate that as I really admire your work.
jEvidently when I resized it my paper clip did not get included.
Tried my hand at this. The torn edge was interesting, but I think I need more work on that. The torn edge, the twill tape, the denim paper, the metal star paper clip. The center picture I developed from a background from PS and various watercolor elements from Creative Fabrica. The font is from Creative Fabrica also – I think it is Ballpark.
Ann – did you ever decide what to do with the 2022 Word Album? Maybe the light colored areas could be used as masks to highlight happenings in the year 2022 and placed on a layout. I skipped that gift on the countdown and now I miss it and would like a copy! LOL.
I will join in. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody also. Thanks Sue for the art and elements you gave us through Carol’s Countdown. Trish – thank you for the neat backgrounds you gave us earlier this month.
Thank you all for the neat layouts you have posted – beautiful and wonderful inspirations for us.
Ann Seeber – congratulations on the new grandbaby to be – and to the parents.
Love you all – wonderful friends with a common interest.
Thank you all. It has been a wonderful week and I got to hold baby Wade yesterday. What a delight!
I’ve been having fun trying to figure out how to do that special deal with the script text and making a place for background in back of it. Well, I finally figured it out and this is the result. The picture is of some of the decorations my granddaughter (mother of Wade) has put out for Christmas. Yes, I extracted it. The background snow scene is from Marissa Lerin (PS). The rest is mine. And a new Great Grandson
This is the card I made for the new girl baby.
Lab 10 Mod 9 had some elements and papers that were geared toward fiesta. I did the projects, but made the colors bright with the colors used at Christmas – red, green, gold, blue. So – no snow, but the manger scene from Unsplash by Walter Chavez; the church scene from Unsplash by Pavel Neznanov; the diamond paper background was one of the papers to be made; the interlocking pattern (I would call it a Greek key design) was another paper to be made; the triangular banner pieces were the other element to be made. I stitched them together with the stitch in picture tubes (made some labs ago); the brads I had made earlier and recolored them for this layout. The template used was provided in the module by Henri Jean (not really like it was portrayed, but, hey, we have to improvise don’t we??? I made the journaling wavy strip solid – it was just outlined in the layout. I chose to make the 2 pictures in masks with the Clip-to-it script and colored the mats framing them with the gold glitter pattern made in another lab. Christmas is almost here and I am far behind where I usually am at this time in the season. I made some cards for relatives and some of them used the layouts in our last workshop.
Have enjoyed all the beautiful things you all have done and posted.
Oh, by the way, my great, great granddaughter was born on 12/13/22 – Adeline is her name and she is a beauty.- This reply was modified 1 year, 11 months ago by Mary Solaas.
Actually, I once saw a meteor come through the atmosphere and it was a green light (not a UFO). I was coming home about 10pm from a birthday party with my granddaughter.
OK – I’ll post the elf avatar of me!
Lynda, I like your Chicago Christmas Card. Reminds me of the times my cousin and I took a train ride into the “city” from Algonquin.
N is for Neverland. Font is Baghira; Peter Pan characters are mostly from NicePng but some are from ClipArt, the rest of the stuff (including the backgrounds for the Peter Pan characters) are mine.
Thank you, Marie-Claire. YEAH – it is hard to know what to do with it. I have several other ideas in my head about how to use it – changing it up somewhat? I’m not sure, but it bugs me when I can’t figure out how to use something Carole gives us. I gues it is all about what she says: “Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone.” Stay tuned for the next chapter! LOL
As Carole says, you have to get out of your comfort zone sometimes.
Well – I did do the diamond template that was a requirement of Lab 10 Mod 8 and while I wasn’t real happy with it, I did accomplish it and am somewhat happy with it. I used my background paper I developed in another lab with fall leaves on it and decided that for my tastes it would fill each diamond; the background is a PSP gradient; the chain is a Cass picture tube; the word art is from Creative Fabrica. All in all, it’s been a learning curve and I am glad I did it.
Wasn’t real happy with Lab 10 Mod 8 as it really isn’t my style, so I redid it.
Sue – love that lace wreath. Great job!
Back to the labs. Lab 10 Mod 8. Did not do the last requirement which is playing with diamonds (diamonds are a girl’s best friend?) but I will do a separate layout with it as it has possibilities. This is playing with pieces of paper (I remember playing with paper dolls) and piecing a photo. I chose the Memphis Botanic Gardens again. All elements, papers are from my stash. The title font is Bluebell and the journaling is Arial.Suzy – Glad you are back with us. The flu is really making the rounds and it does seem to be really bad this time. It has also messed up some of my family’s Thanksgiving plans. Like you, I can only comment on this page as I’ll lose what I’ve typed if I go back to the other pages.
Marie-Claire – that is an absolutely gorgeous card! #87496. I also like the brightly colored one in which you used several of Cass’ scripts. Those are some of my favorite bright colors and I’ve always like marigolds.Cindy – like your sparkly card – the cupcakes look good.
And now card #7. this is a birthday card for a little girl – still have some great granddaughters and am expecting a great great granddaughter in a couple of weeks; so this card should be good with subtle changes in the dress, etc. I made the hair brown because my Cinderellas have brown hair. The other elements are my own except the sparkly frame is Cass sparkly pattern.
And card 6 – great grandson made eagle!
And Card 5 (I’ve got a grandson to card for his birthday)
Working my way through. Card 4 – needed a card for my granddaughter.
