My inspiration came from the beads that were used to write the date. They immediately made me think of Cassel’s Baby Alpha Beads and the little bracelets they used to put on babies when they were born. I used a pic from Unsplash that made me think, “Oh, baby,” when I saw it. Using Cass’s Bead Script, I made simple little white beads which I then put into a picture tube with the help of the Auto Tuber script. That’s how the baby bracelet was created. I added various clip art items from PixelScrapper and used several of their papers to create the frames. To get the colors I wanted, I used the Color Replacer tool on one of the papers.
Wow, thanks, Cristina. I didn’t realize you could download everything. I may just have to join The Lab.
Cristina, in the Lab, do you choose which tutorials you can watch or are they pre-determined every month. Also, can you only watch them during that month?
Wow, Cristina. They’re both awesome. Now don’t forget next Christmas that you created this one. I didn’t see the Painted Wood technique. I’m still hoping to win the lottery so I can become a Diamond member. LMAO
Thanks, Cristina. If you’re interested, the font is Alistair Signature and I got it from FontBundles during their monthly $1 sale. I like how you used the frames on your page. The screwheads made it even more interesting.
Sue, I wish I had your memory to make that frame after watching the class only once. I absolutely love the colors.
I want to play with vectors, Carole 🙂
I tried, in my own wacky way, to create my own preset shape. Every time I ended up with a raster and, I believe, only vectors can be saved as preset shapes. Maybe you can work this into your next class?
Thank you so much, Carole. This is why I need to watch your Framing 101 class at least one or two or more times so the techniques you taught come more naturally to me. When I’m making the pics for my group, I only have an hour or two to make them. Hence, if something isn’t ingrained in my memory, I just kind of wing it. Now I’m off to watch your class again. <3
DeLoris, it looks like the cat wants the box back – giggles. Eileen, I like all the different techniques you used.
I found this wonderful picture for my group’s theme today. The image in the lower left corner is my avatar from the game.
In order to create the corners, I used the pen tool to make diagonal lines so I could have triangles in the three corners. I used the magic wand to select them and promoted them to a new layer. After hiding the background, I added my desired colors to the promoted layer using the flood fill in each of the three selections. With the vector layer containing the pen lines hidden, I reactivated the background and changed the transparency on the promoted layer. After watching a tutorial on ParticleShop recently, I realized that I don’t use it often enough so I used it to add the bokeh and laser effects. It’s such a useful plugin.
If anyone could tell me an easier way to have created the triangles, I’m all ears. My first instinct was to use the selection tool with the triangle type, but I couldn’t figure out how to rotate the triangle.
H = hamantaschen
A hamantash is a filled-pocket cookie or pastry recognizable for its triangular shape, usually associated with the Jewish holiday of Purim and Haman, the villain in the Purim story. My favorites are filled with apricot, but you can fill them with just about anything…figs, prunes, raspberry, strawberry, etc.
Love ’em, Sue!!!!!
Thanks, everyone. I am definitely making more of my own frames as opposed to transparencies I have gotten from various sources. (I just love freebies.) I can’t wait to see what you ladies come up with after viewing the master class. I get so many ideas from you.
E = Eggplant Parmesan
Who watched Cassel’s live presentation Framing 101? I’ve already watched it again and I can assure you that I will watch the edited version when it’s posted. I can’t begin to tell you how much I learned. Here’s what I made with the second project in the class. I usually copy Cass’s steps as closely as I can (lots of pausing and rewinding involved), but I didn’t have any sequin picture tubes. Since the frame was green, I used shamrocks instead. I couldn’t quite get a very uniform look, but I guess it’s a matter of playing with it and figuring out which settings work for which tubes. This was the first time I made my own shape for a frame. Ever the OCD gal, I tried to get it perfectly symmetrical…maybe next time. LOL
Thanks, ladies <3
Thanks, Sheila. My name is Michele Fineron so I combined it to get Micfin. Not Irish at all. 😀
Now I know this is not “scrapbooky” at all, but it fit my gaming group’s theme today. I’m sharing it because I never would have been able to create it without the techniques I’ve learned here. I used one technique from Cassel’s Christmas 3 Tutorial to make triangular selections of equal size using different glitter patterns. I added an inner bevel on each triangle using opposing angles. Flood filled the transparent background with a metallic gold pattern and buttonized the pic. I used the glitter patterns to add borders around the pic of the woman and copied/pasted her on as a new layer. After adding a large black border I wrote the text with the Beauty Script font using the the same metallic gold pattern for my fill and applied an inner bevel to the text. Finally, on a new layer I used one of Cassel’s corner punches as a brush to create the corner flourish with a metallic silver pattern. Applied an inner bevel to that, then duplicated and mirrored it into each of the other corners. Then I ran out of time so I declared it finished. LOL
Beautiful cards, Dawn. Do you only do personal projects or do you do commercial, too?
That was awesome, Dianne!
Thank you, Dawn. I love that we learn from each other, too. This is such a generous bunch of people.
I absolutely adore your card. I love vintage stuff. The background you created is simply gorgeous. Thanks so much for new resource sites. I rarely turn down free LOL. I’m also going to have to check out Cassel’s lace tube. Your whole project is just beautiful.
Speaking of vintage, have you ever check out the Graphics Fairy?
Happy New Year!
Dawn, I love fireworks! Mary, I never saw the license plate script. It came out so cool.
A very happy and healthy 2018 to everyone. <3
I have learned so much from you ladies in the last few months that I was able to do this pic for my gaming group. I had a picture of a beautiful sunset that I thought embodied today’s theme of Inner Peace Yoga. I pasted a black silhouette image of a person in a yoga pose onto my sunset, Magic Wand selected it, then activated the sunset layer and Image Crop to Selection. After deleting the black image, I turned the new one into a transparency. (I use Clipping Magic; it’s much easier for me than trying to do it myself with PSP.) I started with a fresh copy of the sunset picture, blurred it with the Gaussian Blur adjustment, and pasted the transparency onto it. I increased the canvas size, selected the border and Flood Filled it with the original sunset pic as a pattern; inverted the selection and used the Cutout effect with no offsets. The script I used was Billy Ohio Duo from FontBundles. Used the same pattern for the font and added an Inner Bevel effect.
A special thanks to Cassel for her wonderful tutorials and to Sue Thomas for taking the time to explain how she creates her beautiful frames.
To all who celebrate.
I tried to post this yesterday, but I still can’t see it. I’ll try again.
This December Word Challenge page was looking awfully lonely so I thought I would post something on it. Being from New York, I thought of Central Park in the winter. New Year ~ New Snow ~ New York
I cropped a lovely photo taken by David Stevens and added the falling snow using Cassel’s How to Add Rain tutorial, but I adjusted the settings to be more snow-like. The window frame is a piece of clip art I’ve had for a long time…origins unknown. I’ve added many frames to PSP; makes it easier to get the right proportions. The background is one of Marisa Levin’s Winter Day papers from PixelScrapper. I used the same pattern to fill the outer border and applied the Inner Bevel Effect to make a frame. The snowflakes are from a collection by antuanetto on Creative Market. I recolored them with Marisa’s pattern, too, using the Color Replacer Tool and added a drop shadow to give them some depth. The font is Heavenfield, one of my favorites from FontBundles.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.</p>

Thank you for the joyful wishes, Dawn. Right back at you!
I absolutely adore the pattern you used in the background. It’s gorgeous.
Thanks, Dawn & Cristina. Your comments are very sweet.
Sue, I’ve already admired your tags on the FB page, but I have to say those grommets look so real. Great job.
Cassel, I think I figured out how to do the ornaments/baubles. The theme for my gaming group was Holiday Party so I took some of the characters from the game and put them on ornaments the way you taught us. I think the patterns I used for them were from PicMonkey. I even used some of your punches in the corners of the frame to sort of mirror the circular shapes of the baubles. The font is Christmas Eve and I thought it looked kind of festive. And I once again used snowflakes brushes with MarisaL’s sequined paper.
That is adorable, Dawn, and I love the mauve and blue colors! Glad to see you back to creating; means you must be starting to feel better. Thanks for the new site to look at. I’m always up for freebies 😀
Hey, where is everyone? Too busy getting ready for the holidays, I imagine.
This is a pic I made for my gaming group last night. Thanks to Sue Thomas for teaching me how to outline the tree. I made the tree and the itty-bitty Christmas ornaments/baubles using Cass’s tutorial. Patterns are from MarisaL at PixelScrapper. I used her sequined patterns to outline the tree, to make the star using a selection, and to make the snowflakes using a brush. Now that I look at it again, it would have been better if the green gifts weren’t so vibrant. I only had one clip art gift and had to change the colors. That magic brush really comes in handy! Wish I had more than just a few of hours to work on it, but there’s a deadline for the game theme every day. Good thing, too; with my OCD, I would still be working on it. LOL
