That’s wonderful, Minka. And I think whatever works for you, is what you should do. <3
Bokeh can be used to make interesting background papers. I think it enhanced the presentation of this picture by fashion photographer Andrew Yee. I used several different overlays and I think one layer is my own using a bokeh brush and adjusting the brush variance. (I tried so many different things that I just don’t remember. LOL) I changed the color on some of the layers by locking and flood filling; also used various opacity settings on the different layers.
Oh, I agree with you, Lynda and Minka. With both sides of my family being Eastern European Jews, I don’t know if we can go back very far with research. The records are really not there.
Great idea with those flags, Lynda.
Shirley, I like when people make tutorials their own. Carole is always saying they are just a guide, inspiration.
Thanks so much, Minka. No instant effects or filter forge. On Winter Run I used pic to painting; selected a piece of the tree, used it as a pattern, filled the middle layer with it, and applied gaussian blur. On Winter Love Fashion, I did a lot of selections and cutout effects. On Calm Indoors, I created both of the frames using the inner bevel tool and shadowing and used the blinds texture effect on the background.
Cristina, thank you for your kind words. It wasn’t until you mentioned the colors that I realized they all had similar coloring.
I love your lab work, Lynda. My FB gaming group is dedicated to one game, City Girl Life. It’s a life simulation game on par with The Sims. In fact, I owe The Sims Social on FB for sparking my interest in photo editing. Back when I was a member of a Sims group, the admin asked if I could help with pictures. I was absolutely clueless and started using free editors. Eventually, on the advice of a friend I bought PSP and stumbled upon the Campus. When The Sims left FB most of us started playing City Girl Life and I inherited a group. The rest is history. It was truly life changing for me. I absolutely love doing the pics which is the only reason I keep playing the game.
J = Jigsaw puzzles whether in the flesh or online. I find them to be very relaxing.
Great stuff, ladies!
Here are a few pages I did for my daily pic in my gaming group last month. Hope you like them.
Whenever I try to meditate, I fall asleep, Ann. I might try your one minute method.
Minka, can I come over and use your jacuzzi?
Great mandalas, everyone. Thanks for helping me out. I usually get the newsletter a day late (don’t know why) so I had seen your posts before I read that it was in the blog.
C = Cards
I have been so scatter-brained lately. Where is the mandala? I love what everyone did with it and want to try my hand.
Minka, you have expressed so very well how I, and many of us, I’m sure, feel about the Campus. <3
I love your page. The window is fabulous and the colors are wonderful.
Z = Zip Code
You made me laugh, Minka. At least you didn’t knock over the bowl with the pins or you would still be picking them up!
Sue, I am so jealous. Even though I’ve seen my share of famous people, I would probably die if I saw DW being filmed!
Annie, I’m watching the current version of All Creatures Great and Small on PBS and I’m loving it. I didn’t see the original so I missed Davison. I play some hidden object games and every now and then I run across a scene that has references to Doctor Who. In one game they had a bow tie and a fez. In the latest game I’m playing they had a cyberman. I love when I see these.
Lynda, your layout is so realistic and your pics are wonderful. Were any of the customers or staff giving you strange looks while you were taking them? lol I remember doing the frame and I enjoyed that lesson very much.
Hey, ladies, I’m a Whovian, too. The Face of Boe; The Face of Cat. Cute, Karon. I’m glad you pointed it out; it went right over my head. LOL. I never saw the originals from back in the 60’s. I only started with the Tenth Doctor because that’s when I got BBCAmerica. They’ve rerun the Ninth, but not often so I don’t know if I’ve seen all of his season. Jodie Whitaker is fun as the new Doctor. However, I’m still missing Tennant and Smith.
P = Pictures … of course that was before we had digital pics, email, Facebook, Instagram, etc., etc., etc.
Annie, punk rock turtle cracked me up!
Thank you kindly, Val. Anytime I can make someone smile is a good day.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Karon.
Sweet Annie, the top glass pouring into the bottom glass is exactly what I was going for!
I couldn’t come up with something for my FB gaming group’s theme the other day until I found this illustration of wine being poured into a glass. For the background I resized the original pic to a square and applied a seamless tiling effect. Then I decided to try the Displacement Map which I’d never used before. It has a setting called Under Ice and I liked the way it looked. The font is Frisha. As our friend Annie would say, thanks for taking a peek!
Such wonderful pages, everyone. You all are an inspiration!
Lovely pages, ladies.
Fun with clipart: for when you don’t have much time or any ideas, but you must produce something. Font is Mia Bella, paper and gnome from Creative Fabrica, envelope from The Hungry JPEG, and cupid from NicePng. (Daily pic for my gaming group, of course.)
Loving everyone’s work. Too many wonderful pages to comment on each.
Thanks so much, Val & Karon.
B = Bills
W = Wedding Invitation
T = Thank You cards
Thanks so much, Annie & Cristina. I initially used a pastel rainbow gradient, but it didn’t give me the wow factor I was looking for. Someone asked me how many heart layers there were. I had to open the file and count…there were 20! I didn’t realize how many I had done. Whew.
