I joined to learn how to use PSP. My goal for learning PSP is to improve photos and create interesting content that can be incorporated into slideshows. I first learned about Carole when I viewed webinars on Corel.com. Subsequently, I learned about Scrapbook Campus. At first, I was skeptical about joining Scrapbook Campus because I thought that all the educational material would be geared toward digital scrapbooking. However, I was surprised and pleased to find how much of the content was about how to use the tools in PSP. I am impressed with the breadth and variety of topics that can be found in Scrapbook Campus. Reading and seeing the contributions of members is interesting and informative. Carole is an excellent instructor, and I am so glad that I found out about her and her website.
Carole, I apologize that a last-minute matter kept me from attending the Q&A session yesterday. Today, I viewed the playback recording that covered my request about how to lighten very faint text. I found it to be very helpful, and I am eager to apply the lesson you taught. You are a wonderful instructor, and I greatly enjoy watching your master class videos and Q&A session videos.
How do you choose a particular selection tool to use?
Cindy and Marie-Claire, thank you very much for your condolences. My granddaughter’s note to my mother was very touching and brought tears to all of us when my son read it to us. I hope to include it in the memorial slideshow that I created of my mother.
Carole, you might remember that we had conversation this past month about my mother going to the hospital because of traumatic brain hemorrhage following a fall (she was 91 years old). Unfortunately, she didn’t survive the episode, and we buried her 5 days ago. Before her passing, my son and his wife from Florida came to see her (my mother lived in Texas). Their 2 children, who are 9 years old and 6 years old, didn’t come with them. However, Lila, the 9-year-old, made a sympathy card for my mother, and my son read it to her even though she was unconscious. The words were very touching. I would like to include the page with writing and picture in the memorial slideshow that I made and possibly in a scrapbook page. I am uploading an image of the page for you to look at. Unfortunately, my granddaughter used a pencil for writing, so the words are light and faint. Do you think that you would be able to instruct me about how to make the writing darker and the characters thicker so that the writing is more easily seen? I think that this kind of photo editing would be a nice topic for a Q&A session or for a master class if you think that the instruction would be too long for a Q&A session. I don’t mind sharing this photo with other people.
Carole, you might remember we had corresponded this past month when my mother went into the hospital with a traumatic brain hemorrhage following a fall. Unfortunately, she didn’t survive the episode, and we buried her 5 days ago. Before her passing, my son and his wife came from Florida to see her in the hospital (she never regained consciousness to have a conversation). They have 2 children ages 9 and 6 who did not accompany them on the trip to see their grandmother. However, Lila, the 9-year-old granddaughter, did make her own sympathy card for her, and my son read it to her even though she was unconscious. The words were very touching. The card has been scanned, and I have attached a photo of the written page. I would like to include this photo in a memorial slideshow that I created and possibly a scrapbook page. Unfortunately, the card was written with a pencil, so the writing is quite light and faint. I would like to darken the words and even thicken the characters so that they are more clearly visible. However, I have no idea about how to approach this task. Do you think that you would be able to instruct me about how to do this? I think that such photo editing would be a nice topic for either a Q&A session or even a master class if you think that it would take too long for a Q&A session. I don’t mind sharing the card with an audience.

Questions for the August 14 Q&A session:
1. How do you use the Smart Carver tool?
2. What is the advantage for using the Smart Carver tool?
I appreciate everyone’s feedback. Rene’s comments are well taken. I haven’t used blend mode before so I didn’t think about it. I made the adjustment according to her suggestion, and I think that it is a big improvement.
This topic relates to the first Q&A session on June 12 in which I asked Carole how to make a page showing school pictures for grades K-12. She provided instructions and suggested that I create a page and post it. The attached file shows my attempt. I made a template and then added the photos. With the template, I can create pages of my grown son and 4 grandchildren as well. As a relative newbie, it took me a while to create this project. Although I don’t intend to become a regular digital scrapbooker, I do appreciate learning the techniques from Carole for using PaintShop Pro. My ultimate goal is to create images and modify images for creating slideshows.
Questions for upcoming Q&A session: What are eps files and how do you use them in PSP?
How did you learn to become an expert with using PSP? Did you take classes or learn on your own? How much time did you spend doing this?
Registration link doesn’t work.
The 5pm Eastern time works for me.

I had previously sent this to Carole separately, but I am adding it to this thread now. My daughter is a high school counselor. She was trying to do schoolwork on her home computer, but her pet cat had other plans.
I agree with the others’ comments. I am relatively new, and when I joined it would have been helpful for me to have an introductory hub page like this to orient me to what is available and where to go. I suggest adding the Blog as well.

My day 7 project. Toughest project for me because I tried to use my own objects rather than the ones already a part of the template.
My day 5 project submission.
My day 4 project. My granddaughter, Kari, got a birthday gift of a bear from the Build-A-Bear shop. She chose the red bear from the movie Turning Red.
Carole, the cutie in my photo (*73820) is my granddaughter who lives in Arlington, Texas.
My day 3 project is attached. It is a photo of my grandson (the brother of the cutie in #73820) with his father on their Boy Scout troop hike at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico last summer.
My day 2 project.
My day 1 project.
My lesson 6 project.
My Lesson 4 project.
My lesson 3 project.
My Day 1 mask.
I would like to see ways to enhance a portion of a photo, such as select a single person in a group photo and make that person stand out from the rest.
You could try setting the default app for handling .pspimage files. In Windows settings, go to Apps then choose Default Apps. At the bottom of this screen, select Choose default apps by file type. On that screen, you will see on the left a long list of file extension names. Scroll down to .pspimage. Next to this file extension name, click on the + icon to choose the default app and select Corel Paintshop Pro 2022
