Hi Leslie, loved the page, the Taj Mahal was a place I always wanted to visit and never have. I too have problems with shadows sometimes, not so much where they are but the thickness and blur. As Cristina said Cassel has done tutorials about them and there was a Master Class as well which was very good but this was in 2013, perhaps Cassel could re-visit the topic.
Great idea Cristina to use the progress from seed to plant, really showcases the word. I thought long and hard about what to do, then started thinking about the time of year and how it was in September that we left England to emigrate, and how big a change this was for us. So, here is my contribution, hope you like it.
The photos I got from the internet, the background is one I made using FilterForge, and the maps of course from Google making use of Cassel’s Difference Blending lesson. The font is Litoland italic, standard and the word CHANGE was done with Litoland Title.
Thank you for the comments. Cristina I am I inspired you to learn more about Norfolk Island, it is a fascinating place and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday there. The people are lovely, so friendly and helpful, and despite only being a small island there are lots of things to do.
Well done Leslie your page really shows how much fun you had. Love the cartoon dogs peeking over the frames, very clever.
v = video (still have old vhs player and tapes, and a digital video camera that uses tapes not discs – don’t use them much now though).
Cristina that is a very cheery page, the colourful background and your choice of elements are really good. Very nice.
For my page I chose some photos of Norfolk Island where we went a few years ago to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. It is a lovely place but has a very diverse history – the convict days were very dark, however the Pitcairners have really thrived and there are so many families now that are direct descendants you keep meeting Christians, Quintals, Adams and many others.
The stitched element is one of the officer’s houses in Quality Row, a photo with a cross-stitch overlay. The font is Home Sweet Home. My sister used to do a lot of cross-stitch, I used this photo for a birthday card for her.
The two stickers are the gravestone of Peggie Christian, Fletcher Christian’s wife, and a plaque of the Bounty, both of which I extracted and followed Cassel’s sticker tutorial for.
The three plastic elements are from Cassel’s Pocket freebie which I divided into three to make them easier to place.
The main font is Prida01.
I have included a picture of the cross-stitch as it doesn’t show very well in the resized page.
Cristina what a bright and cheery page, the background is colourful and the stickers really stand out. The gel elements are pretty too. Well done.
For my page I chose some photos taken when we visited Norfolk Island to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary (a few years ago now!). Norfolk Island is a fascinating place with a diverse history of dreadful convict treatment and later the Pitcairners making their home there. It is a lovely place to visit, but you can’t live there unless you have family or a job, and then there are restrictions. One famous person who lived there was Colleen McCullough, author of “The Thorn Birds” and other books.
The stitched element is the Officer’s House – my sister used to do a lot of cross-stitch and this was my way of copying her. It was a photo with a cross-stitch overlay added to it, the font is Home Sweet Home.
The two stickers are the gravestone of Peggie Chrstian, wife of Fletcher Christian who lead the mutiny, and part of a memorial to the Bounty, both of which I extracted and used Cassel’s tutorial to turn into stickers.
The three plastic elements are from Cassel’s plastic pocket freebie, which I divided into three so I could place them better.
The main font was Prida01.
Hope you like the page.
Hi Carrie and welcome, I’m sure you will enjoy being part of this group, there are a lot of friendly, talented people here all willing to share their knowledge, skills and projects with us. Feedback is always positive, so hopefully you will post some of your projects here for us to see.

Cristina your page looks really good, love the way you’ve done the title and the colours match so well.
Dawn sorry to hear about your Mum, hope she gets out of hospital soon, broken bones at her age will take a while to heal.
So here is my contribution to Communication. I didn’t have any photos that suited either but thought I would tell the story of when my sister-in-law had to nearly sit on my husband to get him to write home to his Dad: we cornered him in a motel while on holiday. He only got to see his father one more time before Bert died, so it was nice that he had at least had the letter as well.
The alphabet paper was a freebie from somewhere, the lined paper was from a pack called Three Two One GO, and the letter and envelope were scanned from Mum’s originals. The rotary phone was clipart, the push button one is on my wall at home! The font is Dr Sugiyama (if it’s not very clear I’ll type in the journalling – it is ok when full size).
The photo of Russell’s Dad was taken not long before he died in his early 80’s. Mum’s was taken I think when she was about 90 – she was 94 (by two days) when she died.

Great work Cristina, the Foglihten font really suits the subject and I love the colour scheme. Sounds like a fascinating place to visit, hope the food lived up to surroundings!
micfin Two absolutely gorgeous pages, totally different in style but both backgrounds so well suited to the photos. The ribbon on the first one was very well done. Once again we have provided reasons why digital scrapbooking is a great alternative to traditional scrapbooking. I have a friend who has spent many years collecting papers, elements etc, all stored in the garage where she also conducted lessons and so on. When I said I was doing digital scrapbooking she said “Oh that …” in a very dismissive way. I know we can’t do the 3D fancy stuff by boy can we create some fantastic pages and we don’t need a whole room for our stock!!
Thank you Cristina and Dawn for the comments. I was surprised Cristina that you hadn’t heard a Kookaburra, I suppose us Aussies are so used to seeing and hearing them we don’t realise other people don’t know them. You might want to check on the Blue-Winged Kookaburra, which is native to northern Australia – it can’t quite get the full laugh going so sounds very frustrated!
I like that font too Dawn, it looks great on your page. Gluk has a number of fancy fonts, I have been going mad and downloading heaps! I did a Fancy Font on the “What I Did in August” forum but have been having so much fun I thought I would do another one for here. The font I used is Promocyja096, also from Gluk. I used a couple of free music brushes for the flowing notes and clip art for the instruments. I made the sheet music from another music brush, the quote I found online and thought it was appropriate for the two young buskers. I was dubious about taking their photo, rules about photographing kids can be strict, but they actually had a sign saying it was alright and they were happy to pose for me. They were very good musicians too.
That is a great page Dawn even if you were sick. I was born in 1949 and remember that music very well, so the page evoked really good memories for me. Having the record as the focal point really draws the eye in and the silhouettes work really well. Well done and feel better soon.
Very nice Cristina, looks like a place you can return to many times. I like the way you’ve used a photo in the background, it looks really good but still gives room for the journaling and other photos without hiding the important parts of the photo. The bright colours also make an interesting contrast to my page – I chose the quiet colours to reflect the disappointment we felt, whereas your bright colours truly reflect the happiness you are showcasing. I wonder how many other ways to use the word “Back” we will see?
micfin that is a really nice page, love the nautical theme. Your change of the gold in the rope just shows how versatile PSP can be, especially when compared to traditional scrapbooking. I can’t draw but PSP and Cassel’s tutorials make everything so easy that making your own elements, papers etc is a breeze. Thank you for showing us.
U=Underfelt for carpets.
S = Scaffolding
Let’s start this off. I chose to use the theme of “You Can’t Go Back” after thinking about our holiday to England in 2002. We took the opportunity to go back to various places that we hadn’t seen since we left in 1971 – my old house, Russell’s old house, where he used to work, the church we were married in and the farm where we spent our honeymoon. Although his house and the church were unchanged, my mother’s rose garden had been paved over to park the car and the shipyard where Russell had done his apprenticeship was a fairly new housing estate! As the page says the farm was a big disappointment, and just served to reinforce that fact that sometimes it is better to just remember how it was rather than looking at how it is now.
Dawn that page is absolutely beautiful, you certainly have achieved the vintage look, the colours are perfect. I love the contrast with the bright roses. Classie was a lovely young woman, what a shame she died so young. I’m glad you have been inspired by my collages, I do enjoy doing them and they make fantastic gifts.
micfin the page was made using a kit called “Wedding” which I got as a freebie many years ago and I can’t remember where from. I tried to find it on-line but you can imagine the number of hits I got looking for Wedding! The frame I made from another background in the kit, the two coloured hearts were made by using a white heart, selecting everything then on a new layer flood-filling with the colour, then using the Hard Light layer style to get the texture.
I have been frustrated by those fonts with Alternate Characters as I hadn’t got a program that could use them – then I read Cassel’s Blog on the subject and now I am really happy! This is a page I have done just to try these fonts out. It is of my cousin and her daughter, I used the Maphylla Font with special characters for the M and B, the swatch was a font called Bellwethers which has 6 different fonts – the normal one and 5 swashes etc.
P = Pine, a very versatile wood.
And finally the Bokeh effect. In 2013 I was lucky enough to be able to do the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour, which was really interesting. Unfortunately the lighting and lots of glass meant my little camera struggled to get nice clear photos (or perhaps it was the person pushing the button!) Anyway this is a photo taken in the Great Hall and I thought it was very suitable for adding the bokeh effect.
I must thank Cassel for this Master Class, I have used some of these tools before but still learnt new ideas and methods. It was a fantastic Master Class.
Now two examples of the Selective Focus. The first one of Dartmouth in England used the rectangular one, and for the photo of the trikes in Berri SA I used the circular one.
I often have the problem of a very light sky, a lot of the photos I have of my golfing friends are taken outside, so replacing the sky is very handy. I took out the background but couldn’t find a nice sky photo so I used the Gradient Fill tool with a sky filter, then on a separate layer used some cloud brushes I have to add a few clouds, then blurred them a bit so they faded in the background.
The Pelican photo is an example of blurring the background.
I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday listening to howling winds and hail on the windows – and playing with the Master Class lessons! I will upload the examples over a couple of entries in case they get too big.
First off is the Colour Correction. Like Cassel I had snow photos that didn’t look very white so this was a great idea – I hadn’t seen the Manual Colour Collection button, now I will use it a lot.
Second is removing an item. The photo is of a place called Dark Hedges, near Ballymoney in Northern Ireland. The patch on the path is actually a reflection in a puddle but it looks funny and a bit out of place, so I removed it.
Dawn & Cristina you have done lovely pages, I love the photos you chose Cristina, they really match the definition. Your flower photos were really nice too Dawn, I am sure I have seen the top one before but don’t know what it is called either!
