I have been busy with the Bootcamp but have now found time to post my page for this challenge.

Before we left England we use to visit an elderly Aunt of my husband. She was never expecting us, but would always whip up a Victoria Sandwich when we arrived, literally just throwing the ingredients into a bowl and mixing them together to produce a light, fluffy and <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>very</span> well-risen sponge. She said it was the result of many years of practice. My sponges were good, but never as good as hers.

The kit I used is from Manu Studio Designs and is called Grandma’s Kitchen. The photo is from Bing images and I used a mask from the set. I used the blue paper as the pattern to fill the text. The font is KH-Prince-Rollick.

C = Carrot Cake   I don’t know why I used this, I don’t believe you should put vegetables in cakes, something which always gets a lot of comments from my friends who all LOVE carrot cake!

I like using the Out Of Bounds technique, Cassel’s tutorial was a bit easier to understand than others I have seen. I thought I would post a birthday card I did for my Brother-In-Law. It features the Karunda Railway near Cairns, in Queensland. You can travel up to Karunda in the train then back down on a cable car, Brian and my sister had done the trip when they visited from England in 2007.

Also here is my Day 7. We saw a few of these statues made with recycled metal, spare parts etc and they were all really good. This one was part of a bigger War Memorial, but the photos of the other parts don’t really do it justice so I didn’t use them.

The papers, frame and cogs are from various Steampunk sets I have from the Digital Scrapbooking Place. I decided to put a bevel on the title to give it a bit of depth, I used one of the papers as the pattern for the text. I also had a few problems with the journalling: I did the selection and typed the text in with no problems, however I wanted to try and justify the text both sides, there are two buttons in the later versions that are supposed to allow you to do this but when I pressed them the text went all over the place. Looking up Help or online questions didn’t really get me any further, then I tried using a vector rectangle and selecting this, then typing in and selecting “Justify” – it sort of worked but wasn’t quite right so I ended up doing the journalling on a new image and then copying the layers across. Of course I had to duplicate the layers and convert to raster to stop the text disappearing on resizing.

Thank you Cassel for doing this Bootcamp, as others have said even if you have used PSP for many years and have done lots of tutorials and Master Classes, there is still something to learn. I don’t do a lot of scrapbooking and being given ideas for page layouts has proved very useful.

Here is my Day 6. I used the free kp-Tranquility set as I thought it suited the koalas. We saw them on a walk round Magnetic Island, QLD, some kind walkers had left markers on the path pointing to where they were. There were a lot of overseas tourists who were very grateful when we told them where to look, seems that was the main point of their walk!

I did the borders as per the tutorial, nearly forgot to do the changes to the text!

This is my Day 5. I decided  to not put my photos in a row, I liked the idea of having a lace-edged mat under them instead. The background and the strip are from a set called “Tropical Blooms” from digitalscrapbooking place. The mat was made using another paper from the same set although I recolored it to match my shirt, and I then drew a vector circle the same size and used the cass-LaceEdge 6 font, letter b, to make the lace edge. The elements are all from a set called Tropicana, a freebie on the web,

I belong to a caravan club and the photos were taken during their National Rally last September. There were lots of great outfits, grass skirts and flower/coconut bras – and that was some of the men! – as well as lots of shirts and colourful leis. We had an absolute ball!

I have also caught up with Day 4. The photo is my great-nephew Arthur who happens to have been born on my birthday (twinned birthdays happen a bit in my family!) It was really nice that we were able to travel to England to share his 18th birthday, missing out on family events is one of the disadvantages of being 13,000 miles away. Thank goodness for Skype!

The kit is “Celebrate” by Shelle Designs. I did put drop shadows on the banner and title but the background is so dark they don’t really show. The banner is two duplicate layers moved to form one banner. The word “Celebrate” was in blue and didn’t really standout so I locked the transparency and painted it with the pink from the banner.

This is my Day 3 page. I used a kit called “Irish Luck (dzzptt) – I have no idea now who the designer was!  The page is fairly simple, but the photo is the main emphasis.

It is great seeing the work everyone has done, certainly providing inspiration.

I also agree whole-heartedly with the comment about how good a teacher Carole is, so much better than a lot I have tried to follow.

I don’t like pickles and onions so my sandwich is very plain.

I have my Workspace set to Dark Grey and the Background set to Medium Grey – I tend to use Tabbed Documents most of the time. I also only have the Materials and Layers Palettes open, although I will open the Organiser if I am working on a collage with all the photos in one folder. Two of my best purchases to help with using PSP are a Wacom tablet (even though it is nearly 10 years old) and a 45cm monitor – much easier than trying to see everything on a laptop.

I read the blog regarding AV Bros Page Curl Pro and it inspired me to work through a tutorial I got from Charlieonline Graphics back in 2012. The tutorial included a number of presets for bows and ribbon curls. I don’t use the programme a much as I should, it is very easy for folds and curls.

Hi everyone. I have been using Paint Shop Pro for many years, mainly for posters, card making and collages, but have been doing digital scrapbooking in response to Cassel’s challenges. I decided to enrol in the bootcamp even though I have been using PSP a while, as I am sure that I will learn something new.

It is nice that everything is virtual, I like to attend Cassel’s Master Classes but living in Australia the time difference doesn’t always make this possible.

I am sure we will all have fun.

Thirty-odd years ago I had an ambition to own a Kenwood Chef food mixer, and every Christmas, when Russell asked what I wanted, I would say “apart from the Kenwood I would like …” knowing full well the Kenwood was way too expensive. One year my request was for a collapsible umbrella which were quite new & popular at the time and sure enough there appeared under the tree a parcel that was about a 18″ long. Of course I cheated when Russell wasn’t around and prodded and poked it: it had a hard core and a soft outside, so it was pretty obvious what it was. Christmas morning Russell said that as I knew what that parcel was I should open it first. Well it turned out the parcel was the inside cardboard roll from some foil, with wrapped around it an old net curtain and wrapped around that?  The guarantee of my Kenwood Chef!!!! What a lovely surprise. I still have the mixer, I use it regularly and always think about the Christmas I received it.

I have been waiting for the “Overflow” video to be available, now excited to have a go. I have attempted two photos, one like the girl that was the last item in the video and a photo of the Pentecost River in the Kimberley. The frames in that one were a colour taken from the photo and then I added noise of different levels to each one, then adjusted the brightness as well to give a bit of contrast. The other frames were two different gradients.

I thought the process was reasonably easy, however I did have problems deciding what I wanted to overflow. I have a couple of other photos I might try with, but will probably look at the video again first. This is a great effect, I can think of lots of ways to use it.

Thanks DeLoris, I have written quite a few poems for different age birthday cards, some generic and quite a few specially for the person the card was for. I also used to go on 4WD Tag-A-Long tours and the tour operators (now really good friends) had a Log written every day by someone in the group and they asked for a poem, ditty, limerick etc. Not everyone was able to do this but there were many that were really good. Another bit of fun I had was retirement songs for friends – I did one around “Starry Starry Night” for an Art Teacher whose favourite artist was Van Gogh, and “When She Was A Girl” (Gilbert & Sullivan) for my Admin Officer at the school with whom I had worked for 19 years. I would get the Art Department (Music & Drama particularly) to sing the songs with me at the leaving party. When I left, the Drama Teacher wrote a song based on music from some of the Musicals I had produced while at the school. I still have the original poem.

I thought I would show you the card I made for Marion’s Birthday, it is A4 trifold. I decided to make the inside all black & white as some of the photos weren’t the best, but then went with colour on the front. The flowers are from Koko Loko Watercolor Floral, the poem is my own.

Some beautiful work here, great to see the old photos, I don’t have many as I left England when I was 22 and back then didn’t really worry about family photos. My brother-in-law has done our family tree and sent me a few copies which is very nice.

For this page I used one of the photos Brian sent me, showing Mum and my oldest sister Marion (not Brian’s wife). I chose this for two reasons: Marion has just finished treatment for cancer and is hopefully on the road to recovery; and she has birthday on Monday when she will be 80. The “Now” photo was taken 2 years ago when she and her husband had a “High Tea” to celebrate Keith’s 80th Birthday.

I used Cassel’s Laser Cut Doily and the Vintage Lace, the other elements are from a set I have called Vintage Spring (I don’t know who by). The font is Sophia Art Design.

This is my Freebie Challenge page. The house is my house, the bride is my big sister who is happily still with us and about to celebrate her 80th birthday! The background is Moon Bat Night from Happy Halloween (Dees-Dee), the font is Chiller and I used the layer effects to get the outside glow. The big white ghost and the Boo Ghost are from the Halloween Clipart 2018 from Corel, the smaller ghosts of course are Cassel’s Halloween Confetti Tube.

I had problems saving the file as a pspimage, it would only save it as a flat image, no layers. Not sure why, I actually opened a new file and copied and pasted the layers, it saved ok a couple of times then went back to one layer. This is the first time I have had any issues. Hope it doesn’t happen again!

Hi everyone, I have finally returned from my very enjoyable 14 week trip to Queensland, although it was an eye-opener travelling through western NSW and Queensland where the drought is extremely bad. We had weeks of cloudless blue skies, brilliant sunshine and warm weather, not too hot, however we kept an eye on the weather at home which was very wet and windy. As you can see on my page we didn’t escape unscathed.

Rae your pages are beautiful, the doll’s houses are lovely and the pages complement them very well.

DeLoris I thoroughly agree that the kid’s of today don’t know what they are missing. I have fond memories of staying with my grandmother, she only lived 5 minutes away but I pretended it was miles away and refused to “call in at home” when we were out.

Seeing as I am about halfway through my 3 month trip through NSW and Queensland this challenge has come at the right time. I have registered, however I don’t think I will have much time to do the daily pages, I may have to wait until I get home.

I am currently travelling from home in Mount Gambier South Australia, through NSW and Queensland, heading up through Winton, Longreach to Mt Isa then across to Townsville and down to Proserpine (near Airlie Beach) for a Caravan Club National Rally in early September. This means I am not going to have much spare time or possibly internet access so I will not be contributing for a few months. Perhaps after the trip I may have lots to add to the forums.

Being a South Australian I am not passionate about the State of Origin, although blue is my favourite colour as opposed to my husband who likes maroon – we will watch the game but don’t get as excited as when our AFL teams are playing.

Anyway welcome to you Rosemary, I’m sure you will have a lot of fun and learn a lot in the Campus. Once thing that stands out is the many varied ways we all have of doing our scrapbooking, there is no right or wrong way only what we like.

This has been a wonderful challenge, many thanks to Cassel for doing it and lots of high fives to everyone who participated and showcased their many inspirational pages. Lyn Lou I love the way you have done the text with the flower border and the colours are beautiful.

My Day 6 is all about a visit to Coober Pedy on the way north in 2016. Australia has many gem fields: opals at Coober Pedy, Andamooka and Lightning Ridge; sapphires in Queensland and diamonds in Western Australia to name just a few. Coober Pedy is also famous for the underground dwellings known as “dugouts” which are surprisingly comfortable, particularly in the summer.

I have no plans to print these pages but thank you Cassel for the information on how to do it, always useful to know. I have learnt lots doing this challenge and look forward to the next one.

I am continually surprised and inspired by the many different examples of the same challenge, just goes to show that there is no right or wrong way to do these pages only what we feel looks good.

Jan I was very interested in your photos of Lord Howe Island, I have never been there but we did celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary on Norfolk Island. It was fascinating to learn the history of the convicts and the mutineers and to see the different conditions in which they all lived. I might use some of my photos on another day if they are suitable.

My Day 5 page features photos from my last trip to England in 2013 (which could also be my last in the other meaning of the word). I had seen the Brighton Pavilion in passing a few times before we left England but as my niece lives in Brighton we took the opportunity to visit the town with my sister and brother-in-law. The panorama was made with Image Composite Editor. The frames for the photos were done with Corel’s Simple Caption script although I did change the background and the size of the font. I used two colours in the Pavilion for a very subtle gradient on the bottom and continued this in the big words – it doesn’t really show that much but I didn’t want anything heavy.
