Well finally! It has taken me a bit to get this project completed. I am having major difficulty with the text tool. Sometimes the text stays active and sometimes it does not. Sometimes I try to put in new text but end up changing the old text. Obviously I need more practice. I am learning a lot and eager to try a few things moving forward. One thing I forgot to mention on project 4 was that I was having a lot of trouble getting the white frame to ‘fill in.’ I ended up having to change the tolerance level much higher to cover over the pine boughs. Took me a bit to figure that out. On to project 5 – in retrospect, probably should have used a plain paper instead of the print, but it was so pretty. It meant that I was not able to get a good contrasting colour so I used black and increased the reach of the shadow. I know that we could manipulate the 4 hexagons, but I will have to go back and see if you can change the size of the hexagons. Do you have to change one and then all the others or is there a short cut for that? Last question, I would like to print my creations, is there something special that I need to do? Save as a particular size, type, etc.? I would like to print on photo paper – 8.5 x 11 and put a frame around it if possible. Any guidance would be appreciated.

In closing, I have enjoyed this session and learned an awful lot. It has also shown me that there is so much more to learn. The creativity of all the participants has been incredible. I look at the finished products and say – that was neat, I should have done that, how did they do that, where did they get those cool elements.

Thanks so much Carole and all participants.

      Stay safe and keep creating!

Well, better late than never. Here’s the fourth project and I will start the 5th tomorrow. I am having a lot of problems with the text tool. I get confused with where the words show up since I can’t seem to find them on a layer. Then when you are supposed to copy and hide one layer (the copy I believe) and save the other as a raster layer, I couldn’t go back and find the two separate words. So I shadowed both words together. I enjoyed working with the photos as I was able to choose some earthy tones to match the fir tree. I keep going on the Internet to find Clip Art for embellishments to add to the project. Hopefully I will be able to make some sense of my notes when I go back to look at things in a week or two. Some really awesome projects with tons of creativity out there.

          Hello All!

Taking me a bit but I’ve completed project 3 and ready to begin 4. I get a bit confused with everyone talking about filters, tubes, using photos as backgrounds, etc. but those skills too will come! At least I hope so.

Our boys are helping to maintain sanity in these trying times but their favourite thing to do is “sleep” – especially in the front window in the sun.

Some wonderful projects that have been completed. I really enjoy opening the Forum to see what everyone has created.

          Stay Safe.

            Howdy!

I managed to go back and make the suggested changes. The shadowing does give the elements more ‘pop’ for sure. I am still having problems with the text but will continue to work through things.

            On to the next project.

Hello Everyone. I took this picture of an incredible waterfall in Jamaica. We ended up climbing the entire way up to the top stopping to rest in the pools that were formed by the cascading water. We also managed to get under a few of the waterfalls and get totally soaked. Enjoyed this project as I had to try and find a photo to work with the kit and then select appropriate components to build my page. I had a lot of difficulty with the text. I will try again tomorrow after reviewing the video again. I am confused with bringing the text to a different layer. With a good night’s sleep and clear eyes, I will give it another go. Carole, I have a few questions. Sometimes I can’t sit and do a complete project at one time. Should I be saving my work and if so, how & where, or do I just leave the program open on my computer? Currently I am saving ‘kits’ in a folder on my desktop. Should I be saving these ‘kits’ for future use in the program somewhere? Thanks.

Our new granddaughter – Logan. I didn’t have any ‘kits’ and the blue wasn’t going to fit with the baby blanket so I went on-line and got some free ‘background’ and ‘column strip’ prints. I went to a few clip art sites and found hearts and the white embellishment – all as png or jpeg formats. It’s my first attempt and I think I could do better with her name and positioning on the right side but I am pretty happy with how it’s turned out. Thanks Carole for the information on how to save the projects – first as the psp format, second as the jpeg and third as a resize. Amazed at what all the participants have included to enhance their projects. I will get there. Looking forward to the next project.

Had some fun working with the layers. Managed to make a decent lunch. Can’t wait to figure out how to change colours and create napkins, tablecloths, etc.

Good morning. A little behind the times, but I am working on catching up. First time using PSP so I had to figure out how to save a photo as 600. Not sure I’ve done it right but I have uploaded our new grandchild which unfortunately we have not been able to hold – yet.

I chose a background of light grey and closed both the Learning Center & Organizer. Windows has been “untabbed,” ruler has been checked and the 300 ppi was the default setting. I left the materials palette as it is.

I am not a scrap booker but I would like to learn how to create some interesting keepsakes for the photos that I take or have been sent. We also have 2 other grandchildren who unfortunately are in another country and we can only visit by FaceTime. I would like to send them their ‘shared’ photos back as a keepsake and if possible get them involved in creating their keepsakes – ages 8 and 12.

I am looking forward to learning a lot.

                    Stay safe.
