I did not use Rotating Mirror at all. I used Flip Horizontal under the Image menu. Ctrl-M is the shortcut.

FWIW, I tried it with Rotating Mirror and could not get it to do what you wanted.

I just tried this. I opened a 3600×3600 canvas. I then opened a 3600×3600 paper from a kit. I resized the paper to 50% and duplicated the layer 3 times. I then placed each layer in a different quadrant lining each one up with the pick tool (yeah, guide lines would work but I have trouble with those since I don’t use them much). After getting all layers in place, I did an Image Flip Horizontal on the top right and bottom left quadrants. Middle line up.

I just looked at the original layout and it looks to me like she shrunk the 12×12 paper to 4×4 (edit should be 6×6) and placed it in the 4 quadrants of the page, flipping each layer to line up the middle. I say this because another layout shown using the kit shows the stripes on the paper as being a wider than on her layout.

I could be totally wrong but that is what it looks like to me.

They coached the team again in 2020. Both are older layouts I did for a book I gave to them.

My cousin and his son-in-law coached the church basketball team for his grandson in 2019.

Suzy, the spreadsheet is just a listing of the master class titles with columns where I can indicate if I have watched it or downloaded the pdf file and a column for notes. Nothing elaborate

A second tab on the sheet is just the listing of all the tutorials where I can again note if I have watched it or downloaded any pdf if there is one. If I look at one and notice that it is associated with a Lab, I indicate which lab. The spreadsheet is no where near complete because I haven’t done much class watching or tutorial watching in the last 6 months so I’m not sure it would be of help to anyone.

P is for PIZZA!  My favorite pizza is from a local pizza place. Love their crust, thin but not too thin. As for the type of pizza, ham and pineapple from them is so darn good. Chain pizza places cannot match this pizza. They also have dynamite deep friend potato skins with bacon and cheese.

Carole, if you put it in the Q&A, please do it at the end. It would be much appreciated so that I could leave since I’m not interested in it since I don’t have a version (and no plan on getting one) that has it. Thank you in advance.

I for one am not using 2022. Still on the fence about 2023 as I’m quite happy with 2021. So seeing something that is version specific would be of no interest to me. JMHO

Susan, the journaling was actually from the obituary the family wrote up for him. I told my cousin it was “perfect”.  For anybody that lived through the 60’s and early 70’s, this young man would have been right at home. He was a free spirit and will be missed by all who knew him.

I got a pop up in my windows notifications that PSP2023 was out. I’ve been expecting it this week. I hadn’t looked into it yet though.

This isn’t really a tool but I’ve been chatting with Susan about linking and color coding of the layers in the layer palette. Maybe a short demo on how you do this especially with a layer palette that has lots of layers and the layers that you want to link are not next to each other in the palette. I actually use this more than grouping of layers.

Which leads to a question about grouping? Say you’ve got a layer towards the top of your layer palette that you want linked with several layers that are much lower in the palette. Are you able to group those specific layers? That is when I use linking and color coding of the layers to make sure I link all that I want.

Yes, I usually have lots of layers, at least 30 or more on each layout I do.

My cousin’s son passed away July 18th and they had a private family scattering of the ashes on July 30th. Jasper loved being on the water in his boat, especially the Ohio River (they live in southeastern Ohio about an hour from the river) so they chose to scatter his ashes in water. My cousin sent me a photo of their boat trip for it.

I exclusively use digital store bought kits for all of my scrapping. I used a template from Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs (the-lilypad.com) called Star Spangled. I used a kit from Kristin Cronin-Barrow (www.sweetshoppedesigns.com) called A Forest Tale: Over the River.

Ann, I use the Mesh Warp all the time. Where Carole uses the Warp Brush to nudge shadows that are on a separate layer, I use the Mesh Warp. I learned that way and even though I’ve tried the Warp Brush, it just doesn’t work for me.

But it would be interesting to see Carole do a demonstration on using both on the same thing (side by side, no deleting what was done to do it the other way).

Mariana, I can answer your second question. 3600×3600 is equivalent to 12 inches x 12 inches.

Yes, I really like this now! I like the presentation of what is in each module. That was a great idea by Marie-Claire.

One other thing that could be added is a jump link “back to top” in each section. That way someone doesn’t have to scroll back to top if they went to the wrong section. Putting that link between the last row of one section and the first row of the next section is where I would put it. In my mind, it also helps to group each section.

And, Corrie, I know what you mean about a cheat sheet. I set up an Excel spreadsheet when I first joined the school because I was also going into each module to see what was in there. Also, did a cross reference to the tutorials and a listing of the Master Classes so I could document which ones I watched and/or downloaded the information.

They may be listed in the alphabetical index but unless you actually tell us that, a newbie won’t know that. Been here a year and I didn’t know that!

I was also thinking about those who are working through the Lab module by module and started with the oldest one. Maybe they just finished Lab 6-3 and want to do Lab 6-4. That’s a lot of scrolling. With a jump link to the Lab 6 modules they won’t have to scroll as much.

When I designed web pages, it was all about how to make it easier for the visitors to find information and constant scrolling was always a complaint about many websites when I asked for input on design.

I still like what you are doing with it though, I just think it could be more user friendly.

                                          I like it but…

there’s gonna be a whole lot of scrolling to get to the first labs. Could you do an index at the top like you have for the Master Classes alphabetical listing. You could just put a link for the main divisions i.e. Lab 5, Lab 6, Lab 7 etc. not necessarily for each individual lab. Then have each lab listed under the heading like you did for the alphabetical listing of Master Classes.

Monique. Yep, the very first Cricut machine had cartridges that you put in to the machine for it to make its cuts. I had a friend buy a drawer unit from Ikea just for her cartridges since she had so many. Here’s a little history on Cricut machines:

I never had a Cricut but had a CraftRobo (around 2007/2008) which was a Silhouette type cutter. It used software and a computer to do the cuts so unless you had a laptop, it wasn’t as portable. Many of my scrapbooking friends then started with the Cricut after having the other because of the portability. However, they had to buy cartridges which eventually got to be too much if going to a retreat. Many times the Cricut users would coordinate as to who would bring what cartridges to a retreat so one person didn’t have to take everything they had. Those that have stuck with the Cricuts do like the newer models since things have evolved as to how the designs are made available to the users.

But what I really wanted to say was that those paper scrappers would not let any of the “wasted” papers go to waste. Those scraps were quite useful. I used them with small punches (think small pawprints which I used a lot on my dog pages). I also made lots of small square pieces that I used as design elements. Many of my friends were even more frugal with them than I was! I did traditional scrapping and dabbled in digital scrapping for about a year. I still have some traditional supplies because there are times that I have the urge to work with paper. I also had some projects that were better being done with paper.

I still have my CraftRobo and can use it with Silhouette software and my computer if I want to make something.

Susan, I had trouble in the past with saving the psp files. But if I did a “save as” and change the folder location, it worked. Also had the same problem when I used the jpg optimizer on some files. Once I changed the folder location, it would worked. It was hit or miss as to when it would or wouldn’t work. Happened in both X7 and X8. Only thing I found on the internet about it was that the folder being set to “read only” would cause the issue. Only thing was, my folders are not set to “read only”.

So far so good with PSP2021 and my new computer. Haven’t had that issue.

Are these folders where PSP saves any settings that you have for PSP or for things like palettes or swatches that you create and save? I see that all my drop shadow presets are saved in the Presets folder. And, my workspaces are saved in the Workspaces folder.

I agree with Carole. Well done on the school pictures except… in my opinion the background sort of overwhelms the actual photos. If it were my layout, I would add a white layer underneath that background layer then use a blend mode to soften the look of the school background. I think that would make the photos stand out more. As it is, my eyes are drawn towards it and not the actual school photos.

Again, great job on getting every thing laid out though. The actual layout of the photos is very good.

N is for “Native Americans”. The area where I live was a rich history of Indian tribes living in the area. Several different ones over the years. My town was at one time a council house for the tribes. Over the years many people have found various artifacts from those times when plowing fields in the surrounding area or even when building new housing. Even though the tribes moved westward, this area does not take their history lightly.

Ann, the gradient tutorial Carole posted is on the blog so it won’t be on the tutorial index. I am finding that I go to the blog and search for things quite often since most of them are how to use the tools etc. That way I learn how to apply it to my scrapping methods.

Suzy, I didn’t download the font (I’ve got all that I want… I got off the “gotta have every font train” a long time ago). But I just looked at a couple of the zip files from fonts that I did download. One is 943 kb. In the zip are 4 different fonts each about 230 kb in size. Another font zip file is 227 kb and has 6 different fonts in it all about 38 kb in size.  The one with 4 fonts are the same font only in “Bold”, “BoldItalic”, “Italic” and “Regular”.  The one with 6 fonts are the same font only in “Bold”, “ExtraBold”, “ExtraLight”, “Light”, “Regular” and “SemiBold”.

So a larger zip file just could be because there is more than 1 font actually in the file. And, some have license txt files as well.

Julie, did you convert the files in PSP? PSP does not “see” abr files (those are photoshop brushes) unless you convert them to the pspbrush format.  Carole has a blog post on how to do this, look for the blog post from March 2019, Adding Brushes to Paint Shop Pro.
