Here is Lesson 23. No problem with it, and the “Pause Script” is a great tool. Thanks, Gary Barton.
I am almost at the end of this course, and I am very happy I decided to do it, although, sometimes, I was pulling my hair out, not finding my mistakes! 🙂
As it was happening until half an hour ago with the GetString command: Two days, and I couldn’t find it!
In the end, the mistake was a typo! The script was running without mistake, but it was not checking MaxLength… I had it “MaxLenght”. The mistake was already in my Snippets!
Ok, now I can continue with the exercise because this was bugging me!
Corrie and Ann, your messages have been delivered. 🙂
Here is a message to all from Annie:
“Thanks again… The campus lassies are truly lovely and supportive … love you all. <3”
Hi Michele 🙂
I’ll relay your message too. She will be very happy for sure.
I love to see what you are all doing: the new ideas, techniques, scripts, you name it, lots of inspiration for the future.
Great work, EVERYONE!
Hi Lynda,
I will let her know, and she will be happy with the best wishes. 🙂
She went to the doctor, and …
” it appears that the blurred vision is being caused by a small bleed at the back of the left eye. It is putting pressure on the lens and distorting the vision. Dr. J is not worried about it, and it should clear up in a few weeks. Meanwhile, I am to rest up and not do anything too strenuous.”
Pirkko, happy to see that you are still with us! 🙂
Carole, taking notes! 😀
The possibilities are endless, and I am sure with time and more knowledge and experience, I will be able to take advantage of working with scripts.
Thank you for sharing those ideas. <3
Wow, Carole, thank you so much for the detailed and complete information! I really appreciate it and will keep it.
Some steps are what I thought: planning a sequence of steps and checking them out in the program to see if it works.
I was thinking about your Bows Scripts, which I love to see running… There are so many cutting, moving, rotating, and shadowing that without testing the steps first in the program, it would be difficult to say if the final result was what you expected.
I agree with you, recording a script may be helpful for specific/repetitive commands but cannot be compared with coding. Two different universes!
I like the idea of printing the notes… Noted! 🙂
Do you remember that a few days ago, I mentioned a challenge I was doing, meant for taggers, with loop (list of names), etc., thinking that I would never have a use for it?
After I had finished the challenge, I realized I could use a similar script for the place cards I always create for our Christmas dinner… I tried it, and it worked perfectly… No more doing each name separately! 🙂
Now, going back to the new lesson!
Lesson 22
I had many issues with this lesson and lots of false assumptions. But, after some frustration, pulling my hair out trying to find what I was doing wrong, I finally found my mistakes.
I’ve learned many commands and will learn many more until the end of this course.
So, I am sure whenever I create a script on my own, I will have to go over the lessons again and again.
Also, I have no idea what kind of script I would create… maybe trying to replicate some of Carole’s “easiest” scripts.
I am thinking of redoing the Snippets to be more user-friendly… For example, choosing the commands that should be there and which ones are not necessary…
Carole, in general, how do you code a script? Do you write down the steps before coding it? Do you first create “whatever you want to create” in PSP to see which tools, techniques, etc., you would use and when?
Here is Lesson 21, challenge#1.
Right now, I want to finish the lessons and learn what I have to learn first. Then, afterward, I will go over the lessons and do Carole’s assignments. They are a great way to put everything we learn into practice.
Carole, I like the idea of using the board game as a timeline… I am quite sure I haven’t created any layout for this Lab6-M12, and your suggestion will help to add it in a different way… Anyway, I am so behind with the Lab lessons that I don’t know which module I will start with when I finish the scripting course.
Message from Annie Tobin:
“Monique, Ann, Michele, Marie-Claire, Bonnie, Anne, Mary Solaas, and Corrie … you are amazing troopers and I accept your well wishes in good grace. It sure has been a trial and all I can do is wait … obviously I need to have lessons in patience which has never been one of my virtues, lol!

Thank you, Anne Lamp; best wishes and love sent!

Thank you, Monique, Ann, and Michele! I am sure she will be very happy with the best wishes. In times like this, having support from friends is very important and therapeutic.
Hi Everyone,
Annie Tobin asked me to let all of you, who are wondering where she is, know that she didn’t abandon the Campus.
She has had a lens replacement surgery and the eyes have not adjusted well to the procedure. Also, the eyes are very light-sensitive, so she is very limited now in what she can do.
She hopes that things will get to normal in a not too distant future… So do I.
Carole, it is very interesting to see how those courses were offered. I never got to know that site. I’ve learned PSP through a site from New Zealand which doesn’t exist anymore.
I’ve just watched the video for Lesson 20, and I like the analogy you made between doors, balconies, etc. Also, I appreciate all the additional information/examples you add. All of them are very helpful.
To do the activities/challenges, I had to look at Suz’s image, like you showed. I tried first with the PSP layers, but I was getting lost along the process… I, too, used the history palette to confirm whether or not I was right in my answers.
I will check later this new challenge for Lesson 16! 🙂
Here is Lesson 20 challenge#1 exercise.
After a long pause, I started again yesterday with the scripting lessons. I can see how without practicing, we forget things/commands… After finishing the course, I will continue practicing, not to forget what I’ve learned, and learn more.
Here are exercises with some of the scripts introduced in Lesson 19.
LayerProperties+PrettyPrinter – SetMaterial – SetMaterialStyle+PauseScript
This is a great challenge! Hopefully, by the end of this month, I can come up with a layout. Meanwhile, I will be checking up on what Renne, Corrie, and others scrapbook friends are creating.
Ann and Renne, great layouts to document those unusual times… Who thought it would last that long?! I didn’t; in March 2020, I thought it would be just a few more months… But, boy, was I wrong!
I see all the great layouts posted, and feel like doing my pages again… a few more weeks!
Great work Ann, Mary Solaas, Corrie, and Bonnie!
I took some time off in December as well. I had to finish Calendar layouts, busy with Christmas stuff, although quieter than previous years. Hopefully, 2022 will be like 2019 with all the family gatherings… Next week, I will continue with the last scripting lessons…I can almost see the finish line! 🙂
Carole, I vote for the return of the Banana Box Christmas song on Christmas Countdown 2022!
Pirkko, I have the File Location in PSP2022, as you can see in the screenshot.
I would Reset Preferences to the default configuration and see if the command shows up again.
File>Reset Preferences>Reset workspace to default configuration.
Maybe Carole has a different tip.
Carole, I am also taking some time off and will return with the lessons beginning of January. 🙂
Sue, the Master of Word Art and also the Frames! I also wish you a wonderful time during the holidays. <3
You, and so many other members, were so generous to share lovely work within the “2021 Christmas Countdown“. The Countdown was a big success!
I apologize if I don’t name everyone, as I am unsure of all the members who have contributed.
I want to thank Carole for another great year on the Campus and EVERYONE that has shared their work. They are an enormous source of inspiration.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to all Scrapbook Campus friends! <3
When I first joined, I chose only the Lab, an option back then, and started to practice with the modules. I chose that exactly not to feel overwhelmed.
After a couple of months, I felt ready for the Diamond membership, and although I didn’t know where to start at first (0verwhelmed!), I also felt like a kid in a toy store! There were so many tutorials that I had been looking for before on the net and couldn’t find.
Maybe you can create an extension of the Basic Scrap Course with tutorials to create a page, cards, or whatever, with some chosen elements and papers. In the beginning, I had no idea what scrapping was, so after finishing the Basic Course, I wanted more. I understand that many members are not scrapping, but the tutorials can be useful to anyone.
For now, this is what I can think of, maybe more later. 🙂
