I’ll be there!!!
Well Lynda I learned the hard way to make some notes as I’m working on a layout and luckely I always keep a PSPIMAGE then I can check what fonts I used or what setting of the blend mode etc.
Dank je Janette voor je waarschuwing en eigenlijk wist ik dat wel maar was ik even vergeten.
Sue welcome back. I know how it feels to have that big time difference and not be able to sleep. It takes some adjusting and what a great way to use a sleepless night. Your photos make it a stunning nature calendar! I hope we are getting to see some of your Welsh pictures over the coming months.
Hi Cindy,
I’m doing better every day now. I have to go to rehab twice a week to get the strengh in my legmuscles back. I only have to use crutches now when going to busy places like a shopping mall, supermarket etc. But I have learned to take the neccessary rest also and that is often the moment for me to do some scrapping.
I will be on the lookout for your page then.
See you around
Carole that would be a good idea!!!
Michele that is one very lovely lady in a great layout. Glad you could share a new Fab Diva!
Lynda nice use of the International Word Art find by Marie-Claire. I too have downloaded some of it but haven’t had the time to play with them.
This is what I made for the challenge. All photos are mine shot in the last couple of years. The background got an embossed frame and an overlay with the blend mode set to screen and a bit reduced opacity, otherwise I found it to overpowering. I used buttons as fasteners and a cluster made from leaves which I had in my stash. A label with a quote and all the colors come from the freebie palette maker, those colors went so well with my photos. The fonts are Better Valentina and BRELLOS
Marie-Claire dank je!
Monique thank you so much and yes the cover is the template that belongs to this workshop, although I changed it somewhat. That’s what I often do with templates to have them more the way I want them to look with my photos.
Of course I can order printingpaper online, but last year that didn’t work very well. The paper that I wanted wasn’t available and the alternatives were not suitable for my printer. The paper that I could get was either to thin for a calendar that has to be hanged on the wall or it was to thick for my printer. Besides that I had made a birthday calendar as well so I needed paper on which it is possible to write. Luckely I could cancel the order and in the end there were shops opening where you could come and collect at the door (we were in lockdown at that time). Nowadays no lockdown but still a lot of things that isn’t available or cann’t be delivered. I think that I’ll be able to go a bit further a field next week – with my husband who has to drive me and come with me, because outside the house I still have to use those crutches – and see what I can get; there still is time to do so.
Ann and Susan thank you very much! The only thing left now is printing. As soon as I’m able to walk a little bit longer I will go to buy the paper I want to use. Of course I can ask my husband to get it for me, but he has so much to do these days to help in the house and do the shopping, drive me to rehab etc. I don’t know how it is in other countries, but we have many problems with goods that aren’t available at the moment, so I think it is difficult for him if the shop doesn’t have the paper I want. In that case I have to look for myself what else there is and besides that I’m a bit fed up sitting at home.
Anita you have done the beautiful castles proud! I loved seeing them because it broad back memories of vacations we have had in the past, We have visited a couple of them. You have made a lovely calendar and I like the consistent look of it. I personally always like a theme for my projects.
I finally got there! The covers I have already posted and I posted a calendar (in German and in portrait format) in the gallery. So I thought I post this one on the original templates here in this thread. Both of them are using the same fonts and most have the same photos but on my own (this one) I used some photos from places that I’m not sure the recipients of the other calendar are familiar with.
Ann thank you so much!
I have almost finished my 2 calendars and here are the covers for both of them. This year was extra special because I made one with a specific recipient in mind. The theme was for both of us a visit to our family, my daughter and her husband their son. So we both visited some of the landmarks of the state of Washington and I could display those places in this calendar. The other one I keep as a memento (beside the photo albun I had printed) and goes on my own wall.
I will post the completed calendars in the gallery as soon as I’m done. Like all of you I have loved this workshop although it took me much longer than usual to do.
Like Sue I use full size paper A-4 because we have our paper and cards in centimeters and then get 1 big card back and front that I have to trim or 2 smaller ones also back and front. I make when needed a separate inside for my cards but have to be carefull to put the paper correctly in the printer otherwise the inside is upside down.
Sue very nice, you haven’t lost your touch during your stay away from the campus. Are you back in Canada now? I hope the saying goodby wasn’t all too difficult, although I know how that feels. Hopefully there will never be another travelban for visiting family. But I’m delighted to see a lot of your layouts to come.
Hi Cindy, I’m doing fine but I’m not, repeat not super strong nor a fighter! Just very determend to get better and come to a point where I’m able to do the things that matter to me most. And my husband does his utmost best to help me get through the aftermatch of the surgery. I hope that by the end of the year I’ll be there. In between fysiotherapie sessions and the excersizes for at home, walking a little bit outside for a short distance and with crutches (for a breath of fresh air), trying to help with the cooking etc I do some scrapping too and be in the campus to see what everybody is up to. Being patient isn’t my strong side though!
For you stay strong, better days will come.
I only can applaud the above and say I whole heartedly agree and hope to be a part of this community for many more years. So thanks to Carole and all of you for the lessons, friendship and support!!!
Shirley, Happy Birthday to you and a lovely page to celebrate it, you are looking great!
Lynda I loved to see a picture of the beautiful Mount Rainier area. I have seen the mountain but in another season when I visited my daughter and her family. I have a picture of it out of the plane window when leaving Seattle airport.
Rene nice colors for this letter and your layouts are very consistent and build a lovely alphabet of your town/neighbourhood.
U = for “Uitgaan” which more or less means have a night (or a day) out and go to the movies, theater, concert, casino, have dinner or drinks, go on a day fun shopping, and so on. I took photos of the cinema, theater, a restaurant, the shopping mall and for the casino I made a strip with some black, red an green numbers. The outside of the casino had dark reflecting windows and on the photos I just got to see myself taking the photo, but they had a that strip with the numbers which gave me the idea to use it too. I made some paperstrips with the name of the attraction on it. This is the last letter I had already done some weeks ago, the rest will follow in due time.
I have always made my own cards and started with photos glued on paper cards and had various embellishments and text on them. And from there all kind of techniques. With hands that doen’t cooperate any longer I nowadays use my computer and print them at home. That makes it a bit difficult to do unuasual formats that have to be folded more then 1 time, because then I have to use thinner printing paper. Templates and videotutorials are sounding great, but I probably will have to change from inches to centimeters. I most certainly will follow this workshop and will love every minute of it and just in time for the christmas cards too!
I like palette challenges a lot so I did this one and I used all the colors in the papers, frames and title. Some of them are in the photos and embellishments as well. I used the template from Lab 12-8 and on the dark background an overlay with leaves: the font is Groovy Yellow a freebie by CF. The photos were taken in the last couple of years, sometimes just alongside a road or in a patch of grass, others in the parks.
S = Spooky an easy one!
I started on making another calendar in portrait format and I am going to use the masks and elements from this years Workshop. For the boxes I used Carole’s Custom Calendar Script. And it will be mostly in German because the recipients are Swiss. The original Workshop Calendar is almost ready I only need to do the cover, but as the German one has to be in the mail somewhat earlier I do this one first.
Michele your Hilda is great fun!
Anita I like your castles, beautiful photos! And like you I’m not finished yet.
So sad to hear about about Sandy!
Carole I would like more explanation of all the tools hidden under the lighten/darken tool. Sometimes you use one of them in a masterclass but then it is with a specific setting for that purpose. I would like a little bit more knowledge of those tools.
P = Poltergeist
Monique I already did that last year because normally we in most European countries start the week with a monday and indeed in this way the weekend days stay on the same line.
