Day 4 with wood tiles added and a different background color. I saved the first wood tile after adding the letter but before adding the outer bevel, and used that as a starting point for all subsequent tiles to reduce the amount of rework (I left the previous letter in place but lowered the opacity of that layer to help in placement of each new letter, then deleted the previous letter layer).
Sorry, Cassel! We must have been typing around the same time, so I didn’t see your response.
Alicia Garbelman – A simple thing you can do is duplicate the pattern layer. That should intensify it some. Then play with the blend modes on the duplicate layer and see if one gets you a result that is a little more bold. If you find something you like, you can then merge down to get the two layers combined and you’ll be back to just one layer. Hope this helps.
Day 3 – Used a squirrel png file from Tattys Thingies to place on the chipped paint wood.
Day 2 – For the frame, I used a wood I already had. Not rustic, but the exercise gave me the information I need to be able to do this with any wood. As others have mentioned, it’s great seeing all the different patterns and ideas that everyone is coming up with!
Day 1 – Went with a dotted line (was inspired by Sharon Murray’s) and drew 2 different lines (each on a separate vector layer), then duplicated each, mirrored and placed them together like I wanted. I wanted a subtle result, so I didn’t increase the width, and I changed the pattern color to white via the Adjust – Brightness and Contrast (it may be difficult to see in this small upload, but it looks fine in the large image).
Z = ZSK embroidery machine
Y = Yoke
X = X Box (stitch box with X inside; to secure straps and panels)
V = View (of pattern)
U = Underlining
T = Tape Measure
S = Serger
Love those cards, Dawn!!! Super job!
O = Open Weave
Day 7. I used some elements/papers from Day 6 and Day 7 scrapkits as well as one I already had. Because the image is busy, I decided not to place the squares on it. To finish it off, I added a small white border and a larger blue border that matches the photo frame, then selected the blue border, applied a bevel and used Alien Skin Snap Art – Oil Paint plugin on it.
Thanks, Annie!
G = Grain of the fabric
F = Fleece
E = Eye of the needle
Day 6. Took these photos of prairie dogs at Caprock Canyon State Park in Texas. The KimB Designs scrapkit I used was the freebie to which Cassel had posted the link. I didn’t change the colors of the individual letters in the title, but instead used a gradient for “Family” and then played with various layer styles.
Day 5 – Butterflies, Bees and Flowers. My photos show some of my flowers, as well as 2 swarms of honey bees that decided to stop by and rest in one of my fig trees. The pink roses and yellow wildflowers are tubes I made from pics I took on our place. I used the blue glitter that Cassel provided as a backdrop for the photos.
Everyone – You all have such great ideas and wonderful ways of showing them through your projects. Kudos to the group!
Annie – Thanks for your kind words! Your “Cute as Buttons” was perfect for those two cuties! And your “Beautiful Adventure” is so nicely put together. Great job on both!
This is a photo I took when we visited 1880 Town in South Dakota. I created the backgrounds from textures and patterns.
X = X-Large
W = Woven fabric
V = Velcro
U = Understitch
Another great creation, Annie!
