Congratulations to the prize winners. I hope you get addicted as I am. When I started in 2002 with PSP and Jasq I followed some lessons to get the in and outs. A nice thing I found was that a mistake always could be wiped out by the back button. Although many programs came and are gone, PSP kept its feet on the market. I try to take the newest version each time for that little extra. The time is coming for me where the expositions come and nice to know is that you can make a flyer with PSP in a professional way. When people send me their work to show, I resize their work to 15x10cm and go in PSP to Edit>Copy special>Copy for special printingwork and save it as PNG file. Try it yourself if you print your scrapbook work to a cart.  It was fun to see what you made out of nothing and gave your own twist using the expertise of Carole. I am not gone and will going to come inside and look what new bootcampers are able to.

Thank you for having me around,

      Ben

Simon Kidd you wrote: “Sadly my PC completely misbehaved on me this evening (a windows update started …)”

This month Windows has a big update and that is why the problems came to people working with huge files. I would advise to search for a update each 16th of the month. Maybe you missed even the 1903 update and Windows is catching up.

How can you see this all. Go to START and right click your mouse> go to system> Look what version of Microsoft is running. You need to have 2004 and 19041.388. It is a big update for the rollout of May this year. Keep in mind to update in time. I do this each week, so that an update does not slow my machines.

To see if there are updates Go to START> left click go to settings (the little flower)> scroll down and push the button update.

Be aware that Windows is going to change in the coming time. For people running the 32 bits version it is going to be the end for Windows. The visualisation of pictograms is going to be more simple. Windows Edge will get his own logo. For those who have not seen it. this is the Dutch site: https://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/edge

For people using PSP there will be not much change to use it, but programs like Office pro, Adobe Photoshop and 3D programs a videocart with power is needed (basic cart Nvidia RTX 2060)  Dont worry but if you buy a second hand machine, look that it is a quad core. Best is with DDR4 memory, because DDR3 memory is running out. 2021/2022 will DDR 5 memory come to the market.

Please don’t worry with all this information and have fun as long as you can.

          Fay Burnett,

I love your scrapbook made with your granddaughter Lillian Elaine. Everything inside that scrap fits beautiful together.

Simon Kidd, be aware to search each 15th of the month for updates of Windows. Only this can help you breaking down a program you are working with.

            To get there: Start>Settings>Update

At this moment the update goes as far as 2004 version 19041.388 To this is a update to the new logo of Edge.

In the coming year the 32 bits version will end and buttons you have now get more simpel. There will be no Windows 11 or 12 but update after update.

You are never to old to learn. Paint shop Pro was my first tool to make frames, effects, movement and design. Still it was my goal to make designs like the pro did. I never forgot PSP though. Using Paint Shop Pro 20 ultra at the moment, next to several grafic programs. I put my first steps during all those years online on a site, https://www.aqua1955.nl/creasite  If you like to go there, be my guest. klick on the bearded man to get in. Cassel, I only can say thank you 😉 You’re a gift to people that like to do something with their computer, beside mailing, banking and chatting. Wish you all the best with your bootcamps. Hope those who entered the Bootcamp will come in, as I did. My last work I did with several stones, found inside the ground.

The other issue I had, I can’t explain at all.  All of a sudden, I couldn’t select layers. I couldn’t see my layers pallete,  and nothing was acting or appearing properly.

Frances Coutzen, because of the memory usage or harddisc space it is possible not to see your layers, that often get hidden behind < or > on top. If you go though to the taskbar to PSP20 and move your mouse there the files often pop-up.

As you said Cassel: “Also I still find some new things inside PSP”

One thing is for sure. Exploring PSP all these year did find me the outlining tool. Never had used it before. So I am glad to follow these scrapbook lessons.

For those who like to print their work or even print a photo. Open you project on Paint shop Pro and place your picture in a background that is 3:4 or 600×800. Go to EDIT> choose copy special> copy for professional printwork > save. After that you can klick right on the picture or photo and choose print. If you want to make a own cart standing up, take the second option. To get it right on your cart, turn your picture upside down, or 180 degrees. Don’t forget to put it upside down! That is because if you are printing the foto it would come on the backside. You have selected your printing paper? Go and print your cart for a birthday or any fest or photo.  For those who want to print also the inside cart, there is double sided photoprinter paper. In this case, dry the paper a day. Make a white sheet that is the same size as your picture. When printing in the second option, first choose the white sheet you made and in the second window your text, photo  or wishes (in this case DON’T turn the page 180 degrees) This way you can print your lessons done here on a cart. Hope I made a understandable way for you, to use your projects here to make your personal cart.

Hi Cassel, yes I did put in the shadows. Giving it more shadow it is going to float the text.

The boats are in the middle “de halve Maan”, a ship that is a replicate of the original and a boat that is under fire, because of its past. Both others are Hoogaars sailing boats, which were and are still used for shrimp fishing. They still cook the shrimps fresh on board. The Dutch keep this historic boats and are still building them in Lelystad. The former ship the “Batavia” has left the warf and sails around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_d9a6k42Ig

What started as a unimployment project, made people handcraft men and women. At this moment they are building “The Seven Provinces”, the admiral ship of Michiel de Ruyter with most all volunteers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvSiClZFAnQ

                            Hi Fay,

“BUT, it’s driving me nuts auto-saving”

The autosaving is done because if PSP19 crashes, you don’t loose what you were working on. Starting PSP 19 if such happens will set the files back. On regular times you see the white beam going from left to right as it is telling you that PSP takes your file in its memory.  Hope this will help you to kow that it has a function and what is more bad, having your files back or hours work lost.

I probably did not read right and made one of the examples, we got through the link from you. I used though own pictures from fall last year inside the negatives.

My second try, where I must admit that it takes and took a lot of time, which I did not think it would. Although using PSP for almost 20 years now, it took more effort than expected. Just changed a little in the filmrol which was empty. Filled it with musrooms 😉

Well the cup is not all. If you would do it right, I think, you need to put the spoon on the smaller made plate.

No breackfast, no lunch… but now a nice sandwich on my plate. Don’t like a table without a cloth. Wonder what the spoon is for? 😉

                                          Hi Everyone ,

I am using PSP now for a long time. Maybe I missed things and learn something more. PSP kept my attention all the time because of the quick matter it can retouch some slight mistakes in design. My example is made with Poser, PSP and the filter flow made in only 4 layers. The real work is 6000×4000 pixels on 300dpi.

Hope to see your nice scrapbook work and wish you a nice few weeks.

                                          Ben
