Minka: I think you’re right; those designs are really uplifting. I can see them as our background papers, for example. The yellow, in particular, looks stronger than the chip I saw. Better, to my way of thinking.
Still working with Corel freebies, this Advent Day 21 layout uses their window frame to which I added my Cardinal photo shot out MY window with my iPhone.
It’s also celebrating the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. Every day gets longer by one minute from now until June.I have a few pieces to post: I made a gnome (thanks for the PDF, Carole!) Unfortunately, I struggle with the Wool Tube making the hair/beard/moustache.
I also caught up on my Advent Days: 18, 19 & 20. I utilized the Christmas freebie cards from Corel, just add photos. Their .pspimage files are hinky, though, so I stuck to the .png versions.
I hear you, Carole Cassel! Since I’ve retired I’m no longer sure what day of the week it is so “days off” seem to slide off into the sunset. 😉
Annie Tobin: Charming snowman layout! I love the curvy tree, reminds me of a gnome. What are AWS scripts? I recently acquired 14 scripts from Corel that were on sale for $25 but they’re rather basic stuff – here’s a screenshot of the offer.
Here’s December Song Challenge – Christmas / Advent Day 17. The photos are of my previous hometown for 40 years, Warwick, NY, showing off it’s Revolutionary War Heritage buildings. (It was designated the Queen’s Village since they supported King George during the Revolution.)
I tried out my new Corel script: Falling Snow. Learned a lesson, don’t use it on a .pspimage with layers. It promptly flattened the whole image! I ended up making a .png for publication and adding the snow to that. Here’s December Song Challenge – Christmas / Advent Day 17. The photos are of Bobby’s Earthwork, a photo of him, a photo of our house and of the cocoon and of the voracious insect. This story is true. I hope it gives you a chuckle. 😉
My first layout is my Advent – Day 16 – featuring Great Britain’s official bird: Robin Redbreast. He has a Christmas story of his own. I decorated the tree that had a background, added the snowman, flying birds and pine cones. I made the garland with rose gold and brass gradients and added a rosy bow from my kits collection.
[OOPS: Sorry, this is a duplicate of an earlier post]
I tried with the colors again after seeing how nice Minka’s layouts show them off. This is a true story from when I was about 9 years old. I’ll see if the text looks readable; if not I’ll post it separately with an edit. The background is a combo of a paper and an overlay from one of my kits.
Hi Guys! Here’s Advent – Day 16 featuring the EU Robin which I’ve only read about, never having visited across the pond. 😉 We’re anticipating 18″ of snow starting this afternoon into tomorrow and I’m reminded of the little poem: “The north winds doeth blow and we shall have snow and what shall poor Robin do then? He’ll stay in the barn to keep himself warm and hide his head under his wing … poor thing!”
The Christmas tree and background are from a game that I decorated myself as is the wording for the robin. The bird is a drawing I found on Google. The snowman and pinecones are from my collection of Iceland kits. The bird silhouettes are from a beach kit. The garland I made using two gradients, rose gold and brass and the bow is from my collection of ribbons.
I’m holding off on more gnomes until I get the .PDF documentation of the webinar. I work better from that than from the video and messing with the shapes tool is hard for me.
I have a Gnome! He’s pretty cute, though I have trouble pronouncing his name. It’s from a Scandinavian site I’ve been reading for the holidays. Hopefully my next attempt will be better. Meanwhile…here’s Stekkjastaur: The Sheep-Cote Clod! (he has bad knees. 😉 )
CHRISTMAS SONG CHALLENGE + ADVENT – DAY 14
The art is a Dutch Christmas card from Pinterest. The scraps are from Pixelscrappers and the glitter on the sides is a Picture Tube.

Advent Day 13 is actually St. Lucia’s Day in Sweden, Dec 13. The start of their Christmas season. Just a simple page as I’m getting tired of the daily routine! lol (Also Carole got me straightened out so I can now create gnomes! (Coming soon..)
Here’s my daily December Advent layout – Day 13 – which is Dec 13, St. Lucia Day in Sweden and the start of their Christmas season.
I did use the colors on the title but they seemed rather wishy washy so I boosted them up some .. I’m more of a “sock it to ’em” with color! LOL
Annie: Oh, my goodness, your Jingle Bell Rock is delightful!! 😀 I’m like you with that song. It’s got my feet tapping already! 😉 Well done!!
Carole: I downloaded it from the link you had in the Master Class on Sunday and unzipped it straight into my 2021 Picture Tubes folder. Here’s a screenshot of the location.
Sorry, it confused me because you chose a color for the wool in the video.
Cassel/Carole: HELP!
I’m working on my first gnome and the wool tube is not behaving. It gives me ALL the cells at once and I don’t get to choose a color. I’m posting a screenshot here so you can see what happens.
December SONG Challenge – Christmas + Advent: Day 12
“Angels We Have Heard On High”
I started playing with garland since I now have a brush for it. You can do a lot with it!

I love Angela Lansbury, she’s in her 90s now, and she was terrific on Broadway in Mame, where she sang the song “We Need A Little Christmas” (I added the Santa hat) 😉December SONG Challenge – Christmas + Advent: Day 11

Doing an Advent Calendar is certainly keeping me busy since I need one per day up through the 24th.
Your gnome family are beyond cute!! The braids on the girls are adorable. I’m currently working my way through Carole’s video again so to be able to start a “family” of my own. 🙂
Advent: Day 10 + December Song Challenge: “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” from the film: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. With colorful insults (“You have termites in your smile, you have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile”) and the unmistakeable deep tone of voiceover actor Thurl Ravenscroft—who was also the voice of Frosted Flakes’ Tony the Tiger for nearly fifty years—this is a Christmas classic.
Advent Day 10 with the Song Challenge: “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” from the film: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Just graphics from a Google search. Still working on getting my new fancy fonts working. I now do have NexusFont so I need to figure it out.
Here’s Advent Day 9 (I’m running a little late)
Here’s my latest Christmas Song Challenge/Advent Day 9. The photo of the glorious pipe organ and the sheet music I found via Google along with the story of how the hymn came about. The font for the number 9 is just Bodoni.
For a rock ‘n roll Christmas, here’s Chuck Berry with “Run Rudolph Run” for the Song Challenge+Day 8 of my Advent Calendar. The corners are from the Christmas tube, the Chuck Berry art is from the VEVO illustration for the video of the music, the lower blue part is from a paper that reminded me of shots of Earth from outer space. The font for the big number 8 is called Square721 and the flare on the upper right is a tube.
