Snagged another Corel freebie; a template called Colorful Cubes. I inserted some of Debbie Lennox’s black and white linocuts. (Deb is my oldest daughter). I couldn’t see adding any further embellishment. The templates are 2400 x 1800 but I reduced it to 900 x 600 to post here.
Right now Deb is showing in a gallery in Los Angeles, the first outside her home county of Mendocino, CA.
Hi MoniqueN: I purchased Carole’s book: Tips & Tricks for PaintShop Pro from Amazon and it’s also available from her store, Creation Cassel.
Also; each lesson with a video comes with a download for a PDF writeup of the lesson, which I like to print so I can look at it while I’m trying the techniques.
Hope this helps…
Off The Leash by Rupert Fawcett. I just embellished his cartoon a bit. Just having a little fun: our pets deserve self-care, too! 😀
Carole Cassel: About the pace of this class; I think you are getting more participation from newcomers by using the slower pace which may be your objective. I think it’s a good idea! For me, it’s like doing reruns of my fav tv programs. I was playing around yesterday, organizing my folders and came up with this graphic, modeled on the Facebook header you made, only these are from my second round of this class. 😉
HENRY: Don’t follow my lead; I saw two videos on the email and went ahead and did both, but then again this is the third time I’ve done these same layouts so for me it’s just a chance to showcase new photos (and hone my skills; I had forgotten how to make mats the easy way.) This series of modules is deliberately a slower pace than I’m used to so take your time.

Here is my design for Module 2A – Panda is the cat and Magic is my great-granddaughter who lives in California whereas I’m in New York. Magic is now 9 months old. Her totem is a giraffe, so I incorporate one somewhere. I found this one on Google and thank goodness it is really transparent. That doesn’t usually happen! I used a kit called Rustic Reflections for most of the design, including the alpha, though the banner came from Pixelscrapper – The Good Life.
Edit: Sorry Carole Cassel, since both videos were on the email I went ahead and did my layout. I now have 3 of this design! 😉
I’ll add the previous two so all can see the progression.

Lynda and Annie: I’m admiring your work with Filter Forge. I did buy the basic model (thanking Carole for the coupon!) This is the first I’ve encountered it. Now I need some tutorials as I find it a bit overwhelming!
Almost forgot to post my work from the Basic Study Group in here. Here is Module 1 – the photos are from The Hudson Valley in Pictures – I was so impressed with these photos that I had to showcase them somehow. The Shakespeare quote was generously shared by Sue Thomas in our Facebook group – I couldn’t find an alpha that looked good so I used the Impact font with a plaid pattern I made from the colors of the Red-wing Blackbird’s wing. I also used it to color the arrow element. The dark background paper is a plaid I made using the old Pearl Noir gray with a metallic gray. The sepia music sheet background was from Cassel. I made the frames using the dark paper as a pattern and applied various 3-D effects. The dark musical notes I had from my Rhapsody in Blue design and the silvery brad was in my stash.
Edit: Of course I had to come back and make adjustments. I re-did the plaid for the title with a white backing and I added more musical notes between the two photos.

Here is my homework for Module 1 – the photos are from The Hudson Valley in Pictures – I was so impressed with these photos that I had to showcase them somehow. The Shakespeare quote was generously shared by Sue Thomas in our Facebook group – I couldn’t find an alpha that looked good so I used the Impact font with a pattern fill from the colors of the redwing blackbird’s wing. I also used it to color the arrow element. The dark background paper is from my stash as is the sepia music sheet background. I made the frames. The dark musical notes I had from an earlier assignment and the silvery brad was in my stash.

I’m looking forward to learning about the Magic Fill.
Carole/Cassel said in today’s email: “For this first layout, we will be using a few tools/techniques: · the Magic Fill (this function appeared in version X7 only)” — but I see it in my PSP 2021 Ultimate.
I can’t figure out what it does yet. It seems to suck up a selected area and blur it.. :-\ Awaiting instruction.
Are we having videos in this class? I’m off to locate two photos…
Lynda: actually you inspired me but you did several where I only did one. It took me half a day!
Just a One Minute Meditation to start the day..
I used the new Bubbles Alpha, the background was the lesson called “linoleum” and involved using noise and the displacement map. I found a few water splashes in my beachy kits.
Admiring other’s work on the mandalas, I decided to experiment with some of my flowery elements. After some surprises, this is what emerged..
Lynda: Wow! What a great idea; those are beautiful. Now you need a virtual house to decorate! 😉
C = Cuddle (my cats, as I live alone 😉 )
Hello. Here is my workspace set up with dark gray and my design backgrounds in medium gray. On display are the example shown by Carole/Cassel and my version from last year. I must be a slow learner .. the teacher keeps inviting me back! 😉
Lynda: That’s beautiful. I’ll have to try that next time!

Michelle: You’ll find it at Creation Cassel, Carole’s blog. I tried to post a link but it won’t post .. sorry

Had my first visit with great-grandbaby Logan yesterday and the debate was who does he look like. Everyone says his dad, Maverick, whereas I keep saying it’s more like Winston Churchill. ✌ 😉
I decided to do a little design to compare Logan with his dad. I tried to adjust the head shots to be the same size and SCREWED them into the wood. 😉 The font inside the arrows is Aviation Cocktail. I slipped in some shadowy bears. They became significant when one showed up at the gender reveal party! So Maverick is now Bear Daddy!Lynda: I like your design; especially the little tractor in the center which gives it a special touch! One typo, I’m afraid, the word “vinegar” is misspelled. All in all, a very pleasing piece of work! [ok, now I’m hungry!] 😉
Here is my female cardinal from my previous design for the color challenge but I’ve applied the free script called Dark Tones 3 that Corel is offering this week. It adds dramatic shadows and lighting; I kinda like it. Here are both photos: before and after.
Annie: I love the green-haired turtle! I actually swiped it and sent it to my daughter, Laurey, who collects all things turtle. You should see her house and her car! I’m sure one with hair is unique for her.
Mary: Very nice design featuring your little one. The crayon border worked well; the stitches and tubes look great! Good call to use the heart mask; no need to draw if there’s one available! That’s the first I’ve seen the Glamlips font which I did download per Carole but didn’t try yet. I see it will call for a rather large size in order to be readable. Good job!
Minka: I love the colors you used in your Puzzle Fun design. I used to do puzzles when my mother was alive but none for years now; she passed in 1985 (gosh, over 30 years! How time flies.. ) I actually think the ribbons are the best part of that design!
Carole/Cassel: I’m doing Lab 10-08 and having trouble with the template download inside the PDF. It’s not giving me the layout shown. I’ll post what I expected (copied from the PDF) and what I got when I downloaded the template from the PDF.
Help!
Karon: Did you do Lab 10-08? Was the template the same as the illustration in the PDF?

Val: Great colors — your papers are wonderful! I do like that big gray background .. is it a paper or a brush or what? Those flowers are so colorful they stand out even though surrounded by patterns and color. Great job!
Also, thank you for your kind remarks on my designs. Much appreciated.
Lynda: That brings back memories for me. We have a Renaissance Faire here around Labor Day. My husband loved the turkey legs and we enjoyed the jousting and the raptors. Nice layout.
