Not my work; just a giggle from today’s comics to start this topic off..
Jean: Very nice! For some reason, I have trouble with this layout, too; just doesn’t inspire me very much either! Your plaid really pulls the colors together; you should make your own kit! Superman would be proud! 😉
Carole/Cassel: Yes, I can see my post now. Thank you for your kind words.
Carole/Cassel: I just posted my work but it’s not showing up and this is the only page showing for the Bootcamp.
Help!
And here’s my final for Bootcamp – the “Concentration” layout. Mine is Red-Winged Blackbirds – with a quote from a Maya Angelou poem: “I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing.” Just the first verse seemed to fit my blackbird. They arrived about 2 weeks ago along with some starlings, cowbirds and grackles. Noisy bunch of seed hogs! I only see a pair of starlings now; at first there were dozens.
I used a frame from Image/Picture Frame in PSP. There are a lot to choose from. The title font is Snap and the poetry is Valentina. I created a little clapboard to add to my designs with dates and details. The tutorial is in the Creative Scraps section of the Campus. The plaid is from the colors of the blackbird and the photo is by my friend, Ed Frampton.
Sue: What a delightful little bird! Thank you for the lifted photo+frame tip. I’ll be playing with that and the technique to add a background border which is different from what I’ve done in the past. I’ll have to try it! Thanks!
My Day 9 Project 4: BEE MINE. Here’s Sonya again; last time she was on a ride, this time she’s posin’ 😉
Something new I tried; the center photo is lifted up using the tutorial in Creative Scrap.
Edit: I made some revisions. I wasn’t happy with the total look of the page. I think this is an improvement.

Just to set the record straight, the layouts I posted are from last year. Still have to do my new one.. But thanks for the compliments!
Here is my Module 4-Sonya’s Ride. This little girl is now just about 9 months old and after a rough start (weighing in at 4lb and on life support in an incubator) she is now having the time of her life! Of course I had to make a plaid 😉
That spooky car on the top is her Grandpa’s Pontiac GTO that has always been the mascot for the Warwick Drive-In. They are a “car family.”
I tried out the brush punches in the corners. They were fun. That’s Cassel’s rusty wheel and the font is Glamlips. I used the Fire and Ice kit which had the set of colorful brads.

Mary Solaas: I love your page! As you’ve seen, I’m into plaids from photos, also. A little tip: if you need to post a revised image or message, just click on EDIT on the top right of your post and you can make changes, including deleting an image and adding a replacement. The image will have an [X] on the top right to delete it.
Oh, thank you, Carole! I now have the Drop Shadow command on my toolbar! Hooray!
Here is the March Bootcamp-Lesson 4: Carole’s “Friendship” page. I have 3 American robin photos from the photographer Izzy Martinez which were perfect for this exercise. I call it “Rockin’ Robins.” The font is Farmhouse and I created the plaid using the colors of the left photo. My PSP2021 choked on enlarging so using directions from Merlin at Corel Customer Care, I upgraded my Intel graphics software. Merlin was super efficient and helpful. Crossing my fingers that PSP will continue to behave. I like to make plaids from photos so the colors match.

When I used it with my flood fill tool, I applied it at a 45 degree angle. Just leave it open on your workspace and PSP will use it as a pattern in your Materials pallet so you to add to your own work. I like to make plaids from photos so the colors match.
Oh, I like these scavenger hunts! I’ll try one after I do the latest Bootcamp assignment “Friendship.” Here’s the two scavenger hunts I did last year.
Time for the Sketch Challenge and another story. I’m afraid the journaling might be small so here’s a recap:
“The year was 1978 and movie star Burt Reynolds was accepting an award from N.A.T.O. (National Assoc. of Theater Owners) at the first convention that we attended after becoming theater owners ourselves.
As we watched, Burt pulled our 16- year-old daughter, Laurey, up on stage with him where we could see she was still trying to take his picture.
The National Enquirer’s headline the next day screamed, “BURT’S NEW SQUEEZE” and it faked a story that he was stepping out on Dinah Shore, who was his latest heartthrob.”
So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
The photos are top row: Laurey at age 16, her closeup of Burt Reynolds; second row: her photo of Burt, the coverage in the National Enquirer, and another of Burt that Laurey took while onstage.
BTW: Laurey is the new grandmother of baby Logan who was born Feb 6. Burt Reynolds was celebrating the success of his big movie: Smokey and the Bandit.

Here is my Day 3 of the March Bootcamp – Carole’s Adventure Time inspired me to use this photo from my granddaughter’s zoo, Paws ‘n’ Claws Wild Animal Park in PA. My photographer friend Ed Frampton visited Jackie there last fall. I was there last summer; it’s a delightful place. It will open in May for the 2021 season.
I did find a kit called Mickey’s Safari using some Disney motifs. From there I got the monkey, the giraffe, the signpost and the rocks, tree and grass. I was actually looking for papers but theirs were not well done; mostly just tiled patterns. I had the sky paper from Pixelscrappers and the brown brick from my stash. The dark paper is a color from the logo up top. Sorry, I didn’t do a title but the zoo logo is enough. I kept wanting to put a fence in front of those fearsome tigers but none of the tubes were dark enough.

Minka: Beautiful layout! I had that problem with my smoke detectors; turned out I had a gas burner on in error and gas was seeping into the house! Gas displaces the oxygen so the detector reacts to the carbon monoxide that takes over. Never knew they did that. I called the landlord in a panic when it wouldn’t shut up and he said: “check your burners and get out of the house!” It was scary. 😐
Corrie: Today I have come to a standstill and it feels weird! I really only did a few layouts but I posted them in various forums and on Facebook. Plus I posted old versions so the newcomers could see a variety. I think I spent more time posting than actually creating! LOL
So I’ve done my 4th New Kid on the Block layout. (I don’t remember doing that many but that’s how many I have!) This was using a kit called Sweet Baby Boy. The title font is Baby Oliva. Here’s the newest great grand, Logan.
Mary Solaas: I used the Magic Wand tool and then flood-filled with color. The hard part was cutting the sandwich and those toothpicks were also difficult! LOL
AND here is my lesson for today: New Kid on the Block. I did our newest, a boy, Logan, who was born Feb 6. The two girls each have their own New Kid scrap page. Maybe I’ll post all 3.
This kit is called Sweet Baby Boy. (I’ve been collecting baby kits, obviously.) The title font is Baby Oliva. So here are all my great grands in one post.
EDIT: Geez, I just found another one I did for my daughter’s new dog. LOL Guess I like this layout! So here’s New Dane in Town.

I served this lunch last “semester” and liked it so much I’m having it again! 😉
As you can see, I don’t like my pickles on my sandwich, so I put them on the side. The silverware was colored with a gradient and I can’t eat a sandwich that isn’t cut. The bread and the tablecloth fill patterns shown are all from PSP. I added the red color to the plates and cup and got creative and added toothpicks.
Here is the .jpg describing the mini kit called The Good Life from Marisa Lerin at Pixelscrappers that I used for my Mod. 3. As I mentioned, with the papers, I did make a blue plaid instead of the black and white pattern and I changed the hot pink for dark blue besides lowering the opacity on the other pink. I did use her elements pretty much but had to go find the blue swirls in the cluster.
I did Mod 3 in the Basic Study Group, which is a repeat so the layout was the same so now I have two matching scrap pages of my kids from CA. Shows how fast Magic is growing! The mini kit from Pixelscrappers was rather for a Feb Valentine but I changed out some colors and created the plaid like Carole taught so it matched the photo colors. I LOVE making plaids like that! Here are both layouts:
Here’s my latest module #3 – another take on my California grandchildren and their kid, Magic. They’ll be coming East in June for our granddaughter Jackie’s wedding so I’ll finally meet Magic in person! These papers and such were from a mini kit called The Good Life by Marisa Larin of Pixelscrappers but I fiddled with the colors a lot. Too much hot pink for me!
Oh, I guess I should post my freebie from Corel last week: the colorful cubes template. I decided to leave the bright colors, even though it looks a bit busy. I explained to Sue Thomas that I see the raven Bringing Hope through the chaos of the past year with the Coronavirus, extreme weather, violent politics and economic woes here in the US of A.
I keep taking Bootcamp over and over again.. are you sure this is not the Groundhog Day movie? 😉
Here’s a new photo of my great grand Sonya that I’ll be using in one of the layouts.
I used the colorful cubes collage template again to frame one linocut done by Deb. I added a title and her signature is embossed on the lower left white cube. This is her design, “Bringing Hope”
