I’m back to playing with masks, and using kaleidoscope to make background patterns from photos. Logan, born 2/6, is starting to smile and giggle. I just revised one I did for Magic but with new background and details. The bear is his protector ever since his gender reveal party. 😉
Here’s the design plus the background pattern.

Lynda, that’s beautiful! I’m a bit hazy on what the original components of the design looked like. Can you show a before and after?
Mary: Your choice of You’ll Never Walk Alone from R&H Carousel brings back wonderful memories for me. I was a pre-teen and went to see the film SEVEN times in a row! I was enthralled with Julie and Billy. And of course, Spring is Bustin’ Out All Over! LOL Wish I had thought of doing it myself for this challenge but I have another in mind, also, after doing These Boots. Thank you, Carole! This challenge is inspired!

Minka: Nancy’s boots are found art. I didn’t do it! Here’s the original..
Minka: your story brought happy tears.. Thank you.
Cassel: I revised my work per your suggestions. I got a flower from my stash that coordinates with the layout and added shadows. I see what you mean about a flat paper object on top of a thick frame. I honestly didn’t think of my “flowers” as paper; which they are, of course! Thank you!

Minka-That is an OUTSTANDING layout! I should have waited as it inspires me to emulate you! Did you curl the paper? I love the title design. Johnny had such a distinctive voice and I’m always a sucker for a bass/baritone! LOL
Been working all day on the April Song Challenge-Walk. Here’s These Boots Are Made For Walking and all the various artists that followed on the heels of Nancy Sinatra who made it famous first. The interesting one was the thrash metal group Megadeath who put it in an album in the ’80s and got censured by YouTube for rude lyrics! 😉 Those are the lyrics that are on my layout. I used Cassel’s music background in sepia, a border background created from the Megadeath art, a few musical notes in Picture Tubes and the rest is all found art on Google which I curved using Cassel’s script.

Michelle: You’re right. Solid Satin is totally fab 😉 whereas Belt Story looks unfinished. Maybe play with the background some more? I’m not thrilled with the clip-art woman either, not your usual fabulousness. *grin*
I have to show off the customized floppy bows I have created, with the help of Cassel’s script. The ribbons are my own creation, either using a Lab or Creative Scrap tut or playing with the palettes of my bird plaids. I have more to go but here’s a taste. Plus I also have a custom sig:

Corrie: I did the vacation challenge last year as my introduction to the Campus. It was a true challenge to post my work because I had to split each page in half to meet the 600px posting requirements. I had not planned the pages that way to start so I had to do a lot of maneuvering. Not sure if that was actually required. What did you do with the 7200 x 3600 pages? Here’s an example of one of my pages from last year reduced to 600 x 300.
Posted this on the April Zoo page. I decided not to make it about my granddaughter’s workplace, Claws & Paws Wild Animal Park, in Mt. Ariel, PA where she’s a zookeeper. This is a generic zoo though the info came from her place and two of the photos. I used Carole’s Animal Print freebie alpha but I created the O’s from Q’s so they matched. The golden background paper is using the PSP pattern that came with the program. I guess Carole used it, also, as it matches the alpha. I took a block of color from the bird photo and created the ribbon and flood filled the background to create a border. The pattern I blurred and twirled to get that effect. I used the script to curve the photo top left which came from Claws & Paws. I extracted the top right bird from a Lorrie photo from the internet. The big cat prints are from Carole. The snake and the monkey are from my Safari kit. The Snow Leopard’s name is Gabe and he resides at Claws & Paws.

Downloaded Corel’s freebie for the week: a spring frame. Applied it to a photo of my granddaughter, Jackie, and her fiance, Corey, when they got engaged last year. The wedding is June 11. The full size layout was made to print out at 8″x10.” Actually, I tried it with 2 different photos. Here’s the 2nd one, too.
WHEW! I finally finished Mod5 for this class. It was a little hard because 1) I’ve done this layout 3 or 4 times now and I’m feeling stale; and 2) I ended up using an old, old photo of my late first hubby back when I was still a teenager, which brought up many memories. 🙁
I played with Annie Tobin’s alpha which came on a sheet. I used my standby Baltimore oriole plaid to fill and then used a font to create the Ampersand which didn’t come with the set. I even added Annie’s little curlicue to it so it looked the same as the rest of the alphas.
The flowers came from a flowered paper in the kit but I cut them out in star shapes (don’t ask!) Had to hunt for a ribbon that worked and this one is close enough with my own plaid.
Trust me, that’s the best I could do with that photo! LOL

Minka, I love that giraffe layout. Well done! My granddaughter is a zookeeper at Claws ‘n Paws Animal Park in Pennsylvania. I told her we were working on zoo pages and she promised lots of photos. They have a wonderfully friendly giraffe named Jethro that I visited last summer. And my great granddaughter Magic in California has the giraffe as her totem, or so her Nana told me! 😉
Looking forward to working with double pages. I just came home from my granddaughters bridal shower and have about 25 photos to use in a layout, so maybe that will work. We’ll see….
I did customize my layers palette by changing to No Palatte Thumbnail and Tool Tip at 200 px. It does make a design with many layers more manageable and now I don’t have to label them with such a big Tool tip.
Here’s a screenshot.

Laurie: I had an experience when I got a new computer with Windows 10. My toolbar on PSP nearly disappeared it was so narrow. It turned out I had fiddled with the Win 10 settings to increase the size of the fonts and they squished the bar itself. Once back to normal size, the toolbar display returned to normal. Just a thought…
Trying my new setup with the tablet I ended up moving it over to the right and my notes on the left. As you said, it will be a “moving” experience. 🙂
Carole/Cassel: Ah, I see the key to your setup compared to mine is your monitor appears to be raised up on some sort of platform. Also, you do have a large tablet (around 8×10) whereas mine is only 8×6. I think for that configuration to work for me I’d need a higher seat. 😉
I’m using the stylus at the moment. I’m pretty wobbly! LOL Here’s a shot with mine set like yours (wine not included!) 😀

Carole/Cassel: Thank you for the info about the tablet. I got a Wacom Intuos (8″x6″) for Christmas; tried it out a bit and went back to the mouse and have avoided the tablet ever since. It’s still sitting here, installed but I have yet to register it with Wacom who keeps nagging me every time I turn on my desktop. I have it on my keyboard shelf, underneath the desk and monitor. You mentioned the buttons on top. I have a hard time reaching them with the keyboard just to the left of the tablet. It just felt awkward. I guess I need to put away my mouse, as was suggested early on, and force myself to use the stylus instead. *sigh* I know in the long run it will be more accurate for many tasks in PSP. Here’s a photo of my setup; the tablet is sitting on my mouse pad just for this photo. Not sure it’s the best setup…
Carole/Cassel: Count me in on also needing help with my Wacom. Got it for Christmas and still haven’t transitioned to using it.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, my NEW computer is not up to dealing with PSP’s AI and keeps freezing up. Corel says I have to upgrade to a faster Intel processor, it’s not the RAM. This is what I get making all those plaid patterns. 😉 Almost every time I tried to enlarge the 1px x 500 image, PSP would freeze!
Fiona: Now that is a good idea; to set the option to no thumbnails and tool tips to 200. Gonna try that. Thanks!
Wow, Annie! That’s a GORGEOUS alpha you have created. Is there any chance I could beg a copy of the .png? Maybe you could put it up on Facebook as a file to download…
I see it’s too late to edit my previous post of The One Minute Meditation but I’ll post my revision here. The first one seems sloppy to me.
OK, now I’m ready with my NUMBERS CHALLENGE. The topic is Ray Bradbury’s Sci/Fi novel, Farenheit 451: The Temperature at Which Books Burn, a dystopian tale of Big Brother which also became a movie. The digits are from cass-Painted Wood. The background paper is from Marisa Lerin’s Tangible Hope. The bookshelf is from cass. Everything else is tubes.
