Sue Thomas: Thank you for your little “tut.” I’ll try it but don’t expect anything like your masterpiece! As to the jelly, mine is organic with no additives, just fruit, juice and a little pectin to firm it up. My wild birds eat better than I do! 😉
Sue Thomas: That layout looks great! That heading and the extra photo add a lot to a QP that, initially, I didn’t really like very much. Please, tell me how you achieved that heading design. It looks vaguely familiar, but I can’t find it anywhere on how to make it.
Susan, I bought an inexpensive (less than $20) orange and jelly feeder from Amazon. It really contains the jelly mess and gives them a place to perch. You can see it in these photos. The Amazon photo’s birds are too small. In reality, those birds are twice that size at that feeder.

QP-5-EXTRA: THE USUAL CREW It wasn’t really bright for photos today, but I was motivated! The raven was a surprise!
QP5 – IT’S AN INVASION! Canada geese have invaded my yard! They are the largest bird here in the northeast, even bigger than Bald Eagles or Turkey Vultures. They ordinarily live on the big lawn next door but have recently decided they like my feeders. Ugh, their droppings are the problem. I usually get 2-3 goose visitors but today I had nine!
QP-4-EXTRA – Who knew? I was totally surprised when all these different birds AND a squirrel were spotted eating the grape jelly and oranges I put out for the Orioles. I used the Hue/Saturation/Lightness on the layout before adding the photos, merging the adjustment layer first.
Mary Solaas: Thank you! I achieved my goal of finding the perfect photo to match the layout.
Here is my QP#4 – Introducing Mr. Chip. I took these this morning in the rain outside my patio door. This chipmunk has been very elusive, and this is the first time in the four years that I’ve lived here that he’s stayed still long enough to photograph.
Edit: I realized this time I needed a drop shadow above the large photo.

QP-3 – Spring Outside My Windows in Middletown, NY, USA
Tricky devils to keep them from overlapping … one thing about Quick Pages — no shadows required! 😉

QP-3-EXTRA: I had this nice sunrise from last year at Rye Play Land Beach that seems to work well with this QP design.
QP2-Extra – following the trend of finding the best photo for the existing layout, here’s a shot my friend Clay Olds sent me from Kenya. I think the colors POP! 😉
QP-2 – I tried a different approach this time. I left the QP alone, no color changes or embellishments and treated it as a frame to find the best photo to showcase. I ended up with a shot of my 5 gallon, heavily planted aquarium and my boy, Patriot, the Galaxy Koi Betta. It seemed to work with the layout. Nothing else added except his title.
Welcome, Iona
I’m looking forward to seeing some of your PSP work. I’ve been here several years and I’m still learning new things. I’m not a scrapbooker, per se, either. I just like digital designing where there’s no paper mess! 😉
QP1-Extra is my step-grand-niece Kate who lives with my daughter and is celebrating her prom and graduation from high school this year.
I’m overwhelmingly sad today. Annie is the second loss today, as a good friend of mine died, also. I looked on Annie’s Facebook page and encountered this excellent photo and some of her artwork. I also had the Alpha she created, called Festive. I see now it’s based on her artwork. Here’s a little “in Memoriam” for our Annie.
Oh, no! I was about to ask about her. This is SO sad as she felt like a supportive friend who skipped along ahead of you to guide the way. As she would say: “Thanks for taking a peek!” I will sorely miss you, Annie, R.I.P.
:’-(
I had this lone Chipping Sparrow looking for home and he’s found it on QP-1. He’s dressed up for a date!
I used the template from Lab 12-05 to showcase Logan’s encounter with a dandelion. He’s 15 months old.
Lynda: Good job with the extractions! I love tulips, even though their time is short.
I used the cass-photo-circle-template to showcase my latest bird photos. All taken with my iPhone looking out my kitchen window or front patio door. I used the curved text frame script with the Impact font and Copperplate Gothic Bold for the rest of the text. The curly inside frame is from Marisa Lerin, used twice. The fills are patterns from the mulch and the pavement.
Lynda: Thanks for the compliments! Except for the background photo, all my shots were with my iPhone out my kitchen window. There’s hope for you yet! 😉
Lynda: Your mushroom house came out great! I love the little details, especially the gnome. Playing with that concept is next on my agenda.
I’ve been working on Carole’s hanging photos template, but it took a while to get all the photos together. They are all my own, including the background, but not all from this year. There’s room for 15 photos so I have 14 birds and my birdwatchers. 😉
In case you can’t read the labels in this reduced version, here’s the list: White-breasted Nuthatch, Mockingbird, Cardinal, Blue Jay, Grackle, Goldfinches, Tufted Titmice, Purple Finch, Black-capped Chickadee, Bird Watchers, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, White-throated Sparrow and House Finch, Brown Thrasher, Baltimore Oriole and a Nashville Warbler. Not pictured: I also see Red-winged blackbirds, European starlings, Cowbirds, White-crowned sparrows, English sparrows, Pileated, red-bellied, red-headed, hairy and downy woodpeckers, Cooper’s hawks, Red-tailed and red-shouldered hawks, Turkey and black vultures, bald eagles, Canada geese and, hopefully soon, Ruby-throated hummingbirds.
The background photo is of my condo yard, blurred and with reduced opacity. Title font is Impact filled with a gradient of Deep Stills backed by the gradient Bondi.
Q = Q Awards – British music awards
Pirkko: Sending healing vibes for Rio. That layout is very pretty; the colors work very well and tone down its busy-ness. Giving me inspiration!
H = Honor Roll (Teenagers qualify if they get good grades)
Hello May! Starting the new month off with my big cat calendar. Here’s a jaguar for May.
Julie: Very nice! I found this challenge fun, also. I’m waiting here with bated breath for my first hummer of the season.
I think this design also falls under the SIBLINGS theme. My grandchildren when they were younger with their pet Lops bunnies. The layout is from the RANDOM – LAYERS challenge.
Basic Scrap Course – Module One. The photos are mine taken Tues 4/26 with my iPhone camera. The title font is Impact, the text is Lucinda.
