LOL! Karon and Michele … guess what … I did not purge a darn thang! But, don’t give up ladies cos I am still working on my courage, LOL! 🙂 Besides which, it took me all day to create my latest page.
In case you are not aware my friends, today is the International Day of the Frog … and so I decided to do a frog page. This little beauty is the mossy frog and it hails from northern Vietnam and China. I think he is really a quirky little fella and deserves a page devoted to him. All my own design and techniques inspired by Katie Pertiet from Designer Digitals. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. ;D
March 20, 2021 at 10:17 am #55015Minka, the chicken’s layout is cute, and I love the colors. I like the clusters, and I am still not very comfortable creating them; maybe I should try it more often.
Karon, what a beautiful layout you created for Earth Angel… She has a lovely smile!
Annie, I was not aware that there is an Internation Day of the Frog, and you created a very nice layout to commemorate it. : )
When I said I purged kits that I’d never used, it didn’t mean I was going left and right, deleting a great number of them, but it probably sounded like. LOL…Like you, it is not easy for me to press the delete button… When I was in doubt, I said to myself, “I will check it again later,” whenever this will be! But I was glad that, at least, I started it. : ) Thanks for your friendship! Hugs and Love. <3
March 20, 2021 at 3:07 pm #55040Time for the Sketch Challenge and another story. I’m afraid the journaling might be small so here’s a recap:
“The year was 1978 and movie star Burt Reynolds was accepting an award from N.A.T.O. (National Assoc. of Theater Owners) at the first convention that we attended after becoming theater owners ourselves.
As we watched, Burt pulled our 16- year-old daughter, Laurey, up on stage with him where we could see she was still trying to take his picture.
The National Enquirer’s headline the next day screamed, “BURT’S NEW SQUEEZE” and it faked a story that he was stepping out on Dinah Shore, who was his latest heartthrob.”
So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
The photos are top row: Laurey at age 16, her closeup of Burt Reynolds; second row: her photo of Burt, the coverage in the National Enquirer, and another of Burt that Laurey took while onstage.
BTW: Laurey is the new grandmother of baby Logan who was born Feb 6. Burt Reynolds was celebrating the success of his big movie: Smokey and the Bandit.
March 20, 2021 at 3:45 pm #55042Annie: Beautiful layout for the mossy frog. He is definitely quirky and I wonder how many people he startles when he jumps.
Cristina: Thank you very much.
Ann: Great way to use the sketch challenge and commemorate a lasting memory. How exciting for your daughter.
March 20, 2021 at 3:59 pm #55045Just messing around. Happy Spring
March 20, 2021 at 6:29 pm #55060Lynda – Love how you used FilterForge on the font. It is perfect with the dragon!
March 20, 2021 at 6:41 pm #55061Annie – Your broken dreams is beautiful.
And I appreciate you taking the time to give the steps to how you created the paper. That was a beautiful piece you completed.
Your silver dollar page is beautiful.
Squeee. Your bush babies look similar to an artist work I have of baby bluebirds. Your colors and font selection is gorgeous.
Ok, your frog is precious. I have never seen one like that before. I love your hearts that are like lily pads.
March 20, 2021 at 6:51 pm #55062Lynda – Your peacock layout is pretty. I like how you did the border and I think your font is very unique.
Neat how you did the cornfield layouts.
Your Happy Spring layout is perfect as I just saw a robin the other day.
March 20, 2021 at 6:56 pm #55065Michele,
You get some great layouts from your gaming group. Your puzzle night one is unique and magnificent. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
March 20, 2021 at 7:08 pm #55069Lol! Dear Cristina … I did purge a couple which must have been really old kits because the paper size was 800×800! I will keep at it, who knows, one day I may have a clean slate which will make for a less cluttered mind … I think! Stay well my friend. <3
March 20, 2021 at 7:09 pm #55070Ann – Your family layouts are so special. It’s great you were able to get pictures with similar poses.
Your ‘new kid on the block’ is precious. What a cutie and what a cute layout.
Claws n paws is wonderful.
March 20, 2021 at 7:11 pm #55071Anne L – I like your balls and bubbles effect. I played with that but mine did not come out nearly as nice (hence I have not posted it). Beautiful.
March 20, 2021 at 7:13 pm #55072Bonnie – I am enjoying seeing your layouts with your cats and their tricks. I am amazed you got Penny to press the bell.
March 20, 2021 at 7:13 pm #55073Ann a cool layout for a captivating story, I love it and especially the diamond paper … kinda draws you into the photos. Laurey was an attractive lassie with a gorgeous smile. Good one my friend. 😉
March 20, 2021 at 7:14 pm #55074Thanks Karon, always appreciated Hon. 😉
March 20, 2021 at 7:15 pm #55075Corrie – Your plaid and background paper is perfect for this layout. Well done!
March 20, 2021 at 7:17 pm #55076I am loving your play-arounds Lynda. You have masked the robin beautifully and the rest is simply fun! Well done my friend. ;D
March 20, 2021 at 7:17 pm #55077Betsy, You made my day. I am grinning from ear to ear looking at your chipmunk celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Love it.
March 20, 2021 at 7:20 pm #55078Val you are really sweet and thank you for all your lovely comments on my work, always appreciated my friend. <3
March 20, 2021 at 7:21 pm #55079Minka – Your photos are beautiful and your layout with the background colors complementing them is gorgeous.
Your story about your dad was wonderful. It is great you got to do so much with him. Though the end of your story with the disconnect smoke alarm has me worried. I can see that happening to me!
March 20, 2021 at 7:24 pm #55082Karon – Earth Angel is the cutest! I like the spirals and circles.
I had not seen the 3 Mustacheers photo before. Awesome. I like how you did the red, white, and blue theme with it.
March 20, 2021 at 7:27 pm #55084LOL! I did have that rum (and one or two more) Karon and for reasons of which you are aware. I am such a woosie when it comes to letting go of these things and yet around the home I am not a hoarder … go figure! I will keep working on it and keep ya posted. ;D
March 20, 2021 at 7:28 pm #55085Phew. I am still deciding if hitting reply so you can see it in your inbox or just putting everyone down in one post is easier. Still out for debate. In the meantime, I took the Filter Forge master class and finally did something with it. I made a treasure map. Oddly enough it was the footprints that drove me the craziest. This is some island off of Florida with no civilization on it. I have to say, I had fun.
March 20, 2021 at 8:48 pm #55088I just love these stories! – Burt’s New Squeeze is just wonderfully wild! -Love the robin heralding spring! And Annie Tobin I love your Mossy Frog. I have more fun seeing what everyone is doing.
March 20, 2021 at 9:45 pm #55092Thanks Mary, much appreciated my friend. 😉
March 21, 2021 at 4:03 am #55106Well I am right into this International day of business. Today (21st March) is the International Day of Forests. A Google search brought up loads of beautiful photos of forests and this one is of the Baobab forest in Madagascar. Stark and beautiful. We have baobab trees here in Australia and they have been know to save many a thirsty traveller who has ventured onto the wrong path. This is actually classified as a forest and it is divided by the avenue for travel purposes. The elements is the top right corner are balls tied up with ropes to the top of the page … tutorial is Cassel’s balls and bubbles … a fabulous tutorial. The flower element I misted and it is the national flower of Madagascar … the poinciana. The trees grow very well here in Australia … seems to be a weird sort of connection between Australia and Madagascar. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. 🙂
March 21, 2021 at 4:22 am #55107Val, you are too sweet and I love your treasure map! (I always put all my comments in one post. I think keeping the blog uncluttered makes it easier to look at. That’s just my two cents.)
Annie, your boababs page is fabulous. The font fascinates me. You know I’m a font-a-holic.
March 21, 2021 at 6:38 am #55108Ann S., wonderful layout and journaling. I am not good at that, but I think it makes the page special. I like how you used the diamond paper… I’ll remember this idea when using patterned paper.
Lynda, cute layout with the pastel colors. I love the background paper with the slats and the mask.
Val, you achieved a great result with the map. I think this was a clever idea from Carole to come up with this technique.
Annie, what a great layout about baobabs… I love this tree… I didn’t know, before watching an Australian series that took place in the Outback, that they are also grown in Western Australia besides Africa… I also love the font/alpha you used for the title “Avenue of Baobabs.”
March 21, 2021 at 12:50 pm #55122Val: Nicely done with the treasure map. And I think I agree with Michele about putting the replies all in one post. I have tried it both ways and have come back to this.
Annie: Loving your Avenue of Baobab trees layout. Very nice coloring and blending the trees, plants and animals that are in the vacinity into the background makes is all the more interesting. I always like reading the information you provide.
March 21, 2021 at 7:50 pm #55149Michele, Cristina and Karon, thank you very much my friends for your lovely comments on my work. The information I provide is usually sourced from National Geographic or Australian Geographic. I’m glad you appreciate it because I am learning from it too. From a historical geographical perspective Africa, Australia and Madagascar were once part of Gondwanaland so this may account for the fact that baobabs are found in those 3 countries. Of course it is way more convoluted than that but you get the drift. Can you guess that I love history and geography! LOL!
The alpha I used was a PTU from Pixelmarket. Like yourselves it fascinated me so I had to purchase … as you do! ;D -
