Cristina, it is great to see a “work in progress” so that newcomers will realize that it is OK to show partial projects.
Gerry, initially I read “Sky Diving” as a title. It didn’t seem to make sense with your story. It took me a couple of seconds to re-read it!
Ann, the result is spectacular. If templates make it harder to use, go with the sketch version and do it yourself. You are quite able to do so! Those images are certainly postcard-worthy!
Corrie, using a similar color from page to page is a great way to create consistency!
June 26, 2021 at 4:32 am #59516Day 4 Travel Icons. Koala for Brisbane, Tasmanian Devil for Hobart, and Kiwi for Auckland. “Photos” courtesy of Australian and National Geographic. The Grungy Alpha is from PixelMarket. I hope everyone is enjoying their travels cos I sure am. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. ;D
June 26, 2021 at 4:38 am #59517Corrie nicely done. I have never heard of Kopplepoort and it is indeed interesting. History is certainly fascinating, thank you dear friend for adding a little more knowledge to my history repertoire and for the delight of perusing your page. ;D
June 26, 2021 at 4:42 am #59518Still loving your trip to Botswana Ann. Cool stamps you generated my friend and I love the duality of wild versus city, well done Hon. ;D
June 26, 2021 at 4:46 am #59519Annie T– Believe it or not, years ago my first hubby and I explored moving to Brisbane. He was a police officer in our town and wanted to move and join the police force there. Nothing came of the inquiry but it was a fantasy adventure all the same! That is an interesting Alpha you used! 😎
June 26, 2021 at 5:40 am #59520Well Annie that is mutual my friend! I in turn learn a lot about Australia. Watch out for my next pages in the coming days because I plan to add more historie. The town of Amersfoort, at least the old mediaval centre of it, is full of such interesting facts. It really is a juwel and famous for it too.
June 26, 2021 at 12:21 pm #59524I agree, we learn so much about everyone’s homeland besides learning techniques. Australia like North America isn’t steeped in history like the UK or Europe. I find it all very interesting, and broadens our knowledge of the world. Still countries like Australia and Canada have such diverse cultures outstanding beauty and unique nature that they are often forgotten gems. Forgotten isn’t the correct word, but I hope you understand what I mean. So much of the world has been swallowed up by mankind.
June 26, 2021 at 2:23 pm #59533After the kids and grandkids were grown, Mom and Dad decided to spend a summer vacation attending baseball games in different cities. It didn’t matter who was playing, they loved the game. In 1986, they managed to take in four games in four cities over two weeks while visiting relatives in between.
The pictures are from Pixabay. Their camera gave up the ghost early in the trip.
Fonts are from Creative Fabrica and the stamp was created using one of Carole’s scripts.
June 26, 2021 at 4:14 pm #59535Of course I had to go on Safari while in Botswana! There were lions but no tigers and bears.. 😉 And I read another “Ladies’ Detective” book when I got back to The Melva Elegant Guest House. I also finally conquered the leather tags.
June 26, 2021 at 5:26 pm #59540This is day 5, I had to do some google search, because I didn’t have all the brochures of that little trip any longer but I found what I needed. Again I tweaked a template for my needs because those that come with this challenge don’t always match my photos. And again I used a photo to make the background, same colorpalette and the paper with the text is made by using textures – blinds. The font is Baskerville Old Face, a freebie from Creative Fabrica if I’m not mistaken!
June 26, 2021 at 6:46 pm #59541Job well dear Corrie. You sourced those photos well and the merge together beautifully in this dougle page. Loved perusing my friend. 😀
June 26, 2021 at 6:51 pm #59542Still loving your trip to Botswana Ann and I’ll bet that The Melva Elegant Guest House is tres comfortable! Terrific photos my friend and you put a grin on my face with your comment about no bears or tigers … it is amazing how many people really do think that they exist in the wilds of Africa! Great job Ann, love it my friend. 😀
June 26, 2021 at 6:54 pm #59543Excellent job Gerry. Four games in two weeks, now that has to be some sort of record! Definitely for the love of the game. Enjoyed perusing my friend, thank you. 😀
June 26, 2021 at 7:05 pm #59544Some things are just not meant to be Ann and I’ll bet you wouldn’t trade what you have now for a what could have been. Brisbane is a lovely city … very laid back and I lived there for a few years. City life was not for me however so I ended up back in Bundaberg after doing a stint of outback living. As you can imagine Bundaberg is very laid back and in the suburb of Norville we are allowed to have backyard chooks (of which I have 4 Isa Browns) and I love every minute of it. Excellent egg layers however they are a little hard on the vegie patch so I am working on that particular aspect. I am sure looking forward to further episodes of ‘Ann goes to Botswana’ … it has been a real treat. 😀
June 26, 2021 at 7:26 pm #59548Dear Corrie and Sue … it is wonderful learning about the different countries fauna, flora and history etcetera. Here in Australia we don’t have the history of the UK, Europe, Asia etcetera … but I think the Indigenous People may have something to say about that, 😉 We are learning more and more about them and it is fascinating and ongoing. I suspect there is still so much we don’t know about this planet … dare I say that we probably haven’t even touched the surface! This campus is amazing in that individual contributions are forming a bigger picture … a never ending learning curve my friends and if only all of humanity would indulge in this perhaps we would stop wounding the planet and help her heal. Ok, I’ll get off the pulpit now, lol! Keep enlightening me dear friends, I love it. <3
June 27, 2021 at 1:31 am #59552Day 5 and full of stamps! Three outstanding photos for each of my destinations. Top to bottom – Brisbane, Hobart, Auckland. I am such a brilliant photographer that I could not decide on one photo so I went with 9 of my best shots … just kidding! I am a photography dunce so you can imagine how grateful I am for all the amazing sites that offer beautiful freebie photos. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. ;D
June 27, 2021 at 3:21 am #59554Day 6 – Postcard from Tasmania. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. ;D
June 27, 2021 at 5:33 am #59555Corrie: I love learning about my heritage – The Netherlands! The doors on the Tower of our Lady are magnificent. I can see seeking sanctuary there. I can’t see your stamp very well (blame my upcoming cataract surgery) so if you could add it as an extra to your post I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
Annie T: You’ve got me down to a “T” 😉 I am also photography challenged so Google is my friend, also. Picking up and moving to Brisbane was a fantasy when we were roughly 18-23 and not yet married. Adventure time! Most interesting your Postcard from Tazmania. That name invokes the Tazmanian Devil and I never realized it was so beautiful there. That handsome background is wonderful. Thank you for that enlightenment! Unfortunately I can’t read your postcard at all; could you post it separately?
(See, now I asked both of you to help out this old lady. 😉 )
June 27, 2021 at 11:20 am #59558Ann, no problem, here is my stamp and it reads: nulpunt Rijksdriehoeksmeting Kadaster which translates approximately to: point zero trigonometry for landregistry. I can add: this is no longer used in daily landregistration because there were way to many mistakes made concerning the plus and minus. For that purpose the point zero lies now somewhere outside the Netherlands on sea, which makes that all of the country is now in the same quadrant. However it is still used for making clear where the north, east, south and west parts of the country are.
The coming pages will have more info on your heritage!
Annie, love your day 5 and 6!
June 27, 2021 at 12:06 pm #59561I did my little assignment for today and probably will use it on my final layout but not today as I’m off to Sonya Anne’s Birthday party.. she’s now ONE.
Here’s my Mark titled “Cheetah on a Termite Mound” and here’s Sonya’s birthday card courtesy of Cassel’s script.

June 27, 2021 at 5:49 pm #59587My day 6, again with a bit of history and the photos to match. I tweaked the template again to get what I had in mind. Same colorpalette and font. For better visibility I uploaded the postcard separately (Ann for you) and that font is Amsterdam, very appropriate for this project don’t you think?
June 27, 2021 at 7:48 pm #59589LOL! I hope the cheetah wasn’t there while you were making your mark Ann. What a little cutie Sonya is and her birthday card is lovely. Well done Hon and enjoy the birthday party! ;D
June 27, 2021 at 7:52 pm #59590Dear Corrie, I can feel the history emanating from your page. It is really lovely my friend and, yes, that font is perfect for your project. Well done Hon, I love it. ;D
June 27, 2021 at 7:55 pm #59593Thanks dear Ann and no problem … here is the postcard for easier perusal. Hugs……Annie T
June 27, 2021 at 7:59 pm #59594Thanks dear Corrie, always appreciate your lovely comments my friend. <3
June 27, 2021 at 11:05 pm #59600Sorry for not adding any comment last night. I am visiting my daughter and working on my grandson’s birthday (you have seen images already in the newsletter). Friday, I had a fantastic last day at work, in a “meeting” with all the colleagues, at the boss’ camping, toasting under the sun, playing along with various activities they had organized for me (I will tell you more later). Then, yesterday, we drove 3.5 hours to get here, then we went shopping for more supplies for the party. In the evening, I was so tired that I went to bed earlier than usual.
Annie, those tags you made are so original! I had not thought of using area outlines as basic shape. I am always amazed how everyone can start with the same technique and find creative and different ways to apply it. The stamps you made could very well be real! I remember seeing fantastic images on stamps when I was actively collecting them (I have not touched my collection for at least 30 years now!)
Gerry, that datestamp looks familiar! I love your pinked edge. Another amazing tweak on a common technique.
Ann, you definitely prove that one can tell amazing stories without TAKING pictures. Stock pictures can often fill in the blank because not everyone HAS photos or has good photos. About leaving your mark, would you do that in real life? I am not sure I would enjoy getting too close to a termite mount, but definitely not with a cheetah around!
Corrie, since your double page is resized, there is one detail I am unsure: for the stamps, do you have holes between them? If so, they look black (on the resized version). If that is the case in the full-size, it might be because the shadows could be too large and/or too opaque. Do you think it is possible? If you don’t have hole and it is meant to be a black line, ignore my suggestion! 🙂
June 28, 2021 at 2:54 am #59604Day 7 is finished. This is one of the beautiful mirror lakes in New Zealand. I carved my name into a stone and tossed it into the lake for ‘posterity’. Kaleidoscope background with a couple of overlays and a texture. Text on a path and reverse text on a path for Toni Morrison’s quote. Photo is courtesy of TripAdvisor. Thanks for takin a peek dear friends. ;D
June 28, 2021 at 3:06 am #59605Thanks Cassel! The tags worked fine but there wasn’t much room on the north island of New Zealand to punch a hole … if it were real I don’t believe it would last too long, lol! Over the years there have been some fantastic stamps floating around. Australia Post did some amazing ones but they seem to be phasing them out now … shame. 🙂
June 28, 2021 at 3:51 am #59606Corrie and Annie T: Thank you both for posting the postcards separately. My eye surgery is not slated until November so in the meantime I’m struggling a bit with smaller type.
Corrie, I really like your design with the darker background. I would love to visit your country some day.
Annie T, Tasmania is certainly beautiful! Until you posted the postcard I didn’t know there was word art on the bottom right! The background used for the postcard layout is gorgeous. Did you create it?
Cassel: Congratulations on your retirement! Myself, I love it! (I really have to curb my tendency to use so many exclamation points!!) 😉
June 28, 2021 at 1:34 pm #59621Carole congratulations on your retirement and nice to hear your were send off with a party. I’m sure you will like your new “free time” althought I’m pretty sure it will be filled to the max very soon!
My stamps do have holes in them, but indeed on the resized version it is not very clear to see. On the full page there is no problem at all.
Annie thanks and I like your last day of the travel tale, beautiful!
Ann sorry to hear that your eye surgery isn’t very soon to happen but you have made a lovely “trip”to Africa. I hope that you can visit my country sometime in the future, I think you’ll love it!
