Here is my result for Scrap Bootcamp – April 2022 Project 5
I used some things from Songbird Scraps DesignApril 21, 2022 at 11:59 pm #75643Susan (#75590) I love those photos! They make me smile. I think that water droplets would surely look great. And by the way, the site is back up. (#75603) Trying to figure out what might have been the issue with your Text tool. When it shows those nodes, it does not work as simply as the Pick tool, although it should not behave like you describe either. That is just odd. After the Bootcamp (or before the end if you really want), you can reset your PSP and see if it would help (but you would lose all your customization, so you might want to wait).
Liz (#75598) you know the drill: practice makes perfect 🙂 (#75605) You seem to be getting more and more comfortable with each project as far as shadows are concerned. (#75639) Your title looks quite busy and hard to read. Maybe you can choose either a solid fill or a solid outline instead of two patterns?
Sharla (#75600) you see how you “felt” that something was wrong when the shadows were missing. Now, when you “feel” the same, I am sure you will pay attention to see how the shadows are.
Ann (#75625) you did a great job with that shape of photo! What is the font of the journaling? It does not look like the Mama font.
Alan (#75627) that is a great way to embellish your title! You used more than one element, and it works great!
Jean (#75630) great layout with Bianca. And will we see more recent pictures of Tilda?
Linda (#75633) you have some nice and friendly visitors!
Pirkko (#75642) you might want to consider adjusting the font size on the journaling because some letters are hiding under the frame.

Better ?
April 22, 2022 at 12:53 am #75646I was worried about that Carole (losing my settings). I’ll see how it goes. I thought something was up because when I open PSP it always has some kind of advertising for PSP then I get the happy lady logo (they are using for 2022). I used to have to close that first. Now it comes up and it’s blank (no advertising but the box is there, blank) and I can’t close it using the “X” in the corners. I was able to check the don’t show this box and get it closed somehow and haven’t had it come up again. That started a few weeks ago so I think something is unhappy. Also, fibre optic is coming to my neighborhood and there is work trucks and linemen around working. We haven’t noticed a disruption but you never know. I never uninstalled 2021 so I can use that in the interm if I need to. 2022 really lags even to just click save as, there is a 4-5 second wait time, it used to come up immediately. Small things like that. It auto saves way too often, I need to learn if I can make it save less often or have it so I prompt the save. I did get on Digital Scrapbook and downloaded some water droplets and will play around with them on the layout. What I did was made a selection of the background paper with the water stains on it, turned it upside down and stuck it on the bottom. ?

You are right. That is not Mama, it is Birdy.
April 22, 2022 at 10:05 am #75663Here is my project 5.
The photo is my own – the dog is my sons and she is such a wonderful dog.
April 22, 2022 at 10:36 am #75664Hi Alan. love your edges on the green paper on #75572
How do you do that if I may ask?

April 22, 2022 at 10:45 am #75666Ann Seeber – You said you had Scandinavian gens.. Where from – in Scandinavia?
April 22, 2022 at 11:07 am #75667Susanne Greth: My maternal grandmother (Selma Hammär) was from Sweden and my grandfather (Emil Haggquist) from Finland (though his birth certificate says Russia, but it was actually Finland under occupation.) Where are you located?
April 22, 2022 at 11:21 am #75668Hi Susanne, I used a script called “Edge Punches A” listed under the Brushes heading at Creation Cassel. Today, to celebrate her birthday, Carole has it on offer for a mere $2.50. Too good an offer to miss. There is an accompanying video which explains clearly how to use the script. . Alan
April 22, 2022 at 5:33 pm #75679Didn’t follow the example very closely. Started and then the project took off on it’s own. This baby will be my 4th Great Grand and my 2nd Great Grand daughter. The theme for the nursey is under the sea in Teal and purple.
April 22, 2022 at 6:03 pm #75680“Edge Punches A” is in my cart–thanks for asking Susanna, and thanks Alan for the response!
April 22, 2022 at 6:30 pm #75682April 22, 2022 at 9:38 pm #75692Sandy – Rookie – Still on project 3, but some success at last! Now I have more questions than answers especially when I get sidetracked by what I can see in my mind’s eye, but lack the knowledge on how to get there. Patience, patience, and more of the same!
April 23, 2022 at 8:50 am #75703Hi all
My project 5 – the photo is one of mine of a statue in my garden. Papers from Sharon Dewi Stolp Family Day Solid Papers Kit. Flower from Rachel Martin’s Alira kit. Frame from Rachel Martin’s Natalia frames kit.
Carole – Happy Birthday for yesterday and thanks for the shop discount.
April 23, 2022 at 9:07 pm #75781Project 5 – I feel like I should have used a different kit for this page…but I didn’t. Maybe I will redo it, or maybe I will decide I like it!
April 23, 2022 at 10:18 pm #75794Here is my day 5 project, although I haven’t written any journaling yet. As always, I spend so much time trying to pick suitable papers to suit a photo that by the time I decide on something I am getting a bit stressed. Stupid I know.
This is my other granddaugter Bella, so I’ve now done a page on all four. I don’t think the yellow looks right, but so far I haven’t found a paper that looks better.
The kit I have used is a sweet shoppe designs freebie called Zip a Dee that I got a couple of years ago, I like it for Bella, she is a pink girl.
I might have another go at this.
April 24, 2022 at 2:55 am #75823So I have done another page for project 5. I used one of the kits suggested today. I didn’t find it anywere near as stressful.
April 24, 2022 at 4:24 am #75824Ann Seeber. I am from Northern Jutland in Denmark.
April 24, 2022 at 4:25 am #75825Alan. Thanks for the answer.
April 24, 2022 at 10:32 pm #75860Pirkko (#75645) yes, we can now read the text.
Nel (#75654) great work. I love how you used a different shape than the rectangle. And the result is fantastic.
Suzanne (#75663) nice photo. I see a rainbow button in the title, correct?
Teri (#75679) it is a good thing you named your project with the number because I would not have been able to identify it. The main reason I strongly suggest following at least loosely the tutorials is to be able to keep track of the projects, mainly for the random draw.
Liz (#75682) it is definitely easier to read the title now!
Sandy (#75692) glad to see you work on the projects now that lunch is over 😉 You will need to add shadows now, on the photo and the hearts too. I am curious; what supplies did you use? Is it something that you recently downloaded?
Sharla (#75703) it is nice when you added those details to the squares. It makes a statement!
Linda (#75781) because the paper is a little busy, try to add a faint and blurred “shadow” behind your text. It won’t be an actual shadow but will act as a way to separate the text from the paper. Other tips are in this article.
Jean (#75794) with a little practice, you can find ways to change the colors. If you still want yellow but it is too bright, you can tweak that. If you want a different color than yellow, you can also change that. That is the beauty of understanding more tools in your program.
If you are still working on your projects, remember that tomorrow is the last day to post them to be entered in the random draw.
April 25, 2022 at 11:46 am #75865Yes Carol. It is like a rainbow button in my project 5.
April 25, 2022 at 10:28 pm #75886I followed all the tutorials in the bootcamp and really appreciated your clear demonstrations, Carole — thanks so much! It has been a busy couple of weeks as we brought home a new puppy in early March, and we have had some family visits. So, I am just uploading one page for which I played around with different elements and shadows.
April 26, 2022 at 12:56 am #75891Sandy – Rookie
Still getting used to this. Had some fun with storytelling and posting Jim’s fishing adventures. I could have added the pic of his ashes floating away in the Coral Sea, but I thought it would be a bit morbid and not at all fitting with his sense of fun…happy and positive to the end!
May 7, 2022 at 1:40 am #76383Success thanks to Carole’s patient guidance!
May 18, 2022 at 4:03 pm #75320Okay, project 1 with a cute blackbird and sparrow.
