Have you ever done an escape room? This will be the topic of today’s newsletter!
Stay tuned.
December 13, 2022 at 2:27 pm #88411Nope
December 14, 2022 at 4:41 am #88469I’ve never done one, but I would jump at the chance!
December 14, 2022 at 5:31 am #88472OM goodness. We saw that not long ago on TV. The clues were so easy that they were really hard, lol. I’m so happy that now I know someone who has been. Well….sorta’ know.
My husband would love to do “The floor is Lava”. Oh Lord!
December 14, 2022 at 11:35 pm #88530I had to look it up — there are three in my city. I tried to make reservations to the closest one, and it said they were closed for COVID, so I went to the next one, and it was affordable (expensive, but still affordable for our family of 4). So I texted my adult kids to get a day and time they could make it since they’ll be home for Christmas and they said they had NO TIME for it on the Excel spreadsheet schedule! sheesh! Maybe when DD#2 gets home from a business trip she can look at that calendar again because I think it would be fun for us. (And it would be great to not have to go to the big LED Christmas light display that is so bright it hurts my eyes and even my teeth!)
December 15, 2022 at 12:51 am #88531I had never heard of them either. My massage therapist was telling me about one where I live. There was differents rooms with different types of puzzles to figure out. the Physio clinic she works at went for their staff Christmas party. It sounds like a blast.
Suzy, I had to laugh at “so bright your teeth hurt”, I would feel the same. A welding helmet shouldnt be required to enjoy a Christmas light display!
December 15, 2022 at 10:04 am #88533There is one in my small town. I just looked at their website and it has 4 different rooms, rage rooms and splatter paint ball areas. Not my thing but I know people that really like it.
December 15, 2022 at 10:08 am #88534I haven’t, but would love to. Anyone who has watched the Big Bang Theory comedy series, would have seen the episode where they went to an escape room.

The room we were in is a little different than the one shown on the Big Bang Theory. The host reminded us that everything in the room had a purpose, and that was the case. Nothing was just decorative. Every line on the wall, every circle on the floor, and even the writing on the ceiling was a clue. I don’t know if they are all like that, but it was definitely not as “packed” as in the BBT episode.

Hum… I never saw those associated with escape rooms here. That would not be my thing either!
December 15, 2022 at 12:34 pm #88541The owner of the business has 2 locations. The rage rooms and splatter paint ball areas are at another location than the escape room. The original location is not big enough for all of it. 3 Escape rooms is about all that can fit in the original location. I had heard they had purchased an old school in town and that’s where they have the other things, including a new escape room. It also has a Nerf area and coming soon is laser tag and a party room. So they are going to be more of an entertainment center. This town needs that!
December 15, 2022 at 3:53 pm #88557Yes we have several times. They are a blast! All the ones we have done were in the dark. This made the escape room a little spooky. They did supply small flashlights. One time I arranged my daughter’s wedding shower in an escape room before we had the usual shower. I can say that we had lots to talk and giggle about at the shower. It gave all of us quite a sense of comradery. Of all four escape rooms only once we did not make out in time. One tip I can offer is to have everyone in the room shout out anything to the group that seems like it could be a clue. Keep everyone informed because the one clue may be the difference in escaping on time.

December 15, 2022 at 4:11 pm #88558No I haven’t been to one, we were never with enough people that would like to go. There isn’t one in my village but the town next to us has a couple. I think it could be fun if you go to one that has all kinds of clues everywhere.
December 15, 2022 at 11:44 pm #88562Update: I laid the foundation to cancel the LED light display in a text tonight. It will be below zero (-19 C) here and it’s located in a large semi-public garden, so instead of driving it, you are supposed to park in the lot, and walk it. One of my daughters lives in the southern US. I’m not even sure she has a warm enough coat, but to her anything below freezing is too cold. Fingers crossed! And fingers crossed the Escape room still has some openings.
December 16, 2022 at 11:05 am #88571No never, my brother invited me a long time ago for an online one, but we didn’t do it , I don’t remember what the reason was, I think technical issuses 🙂
December 16, 2022 at 12:30 pm #88576Wow, so many awesome responses. I’m no dummy but I’d be afraid I couldn’t solve enough puzzles to get out, lol.

On the website of the place we went to, in their FAQ, they do ask what happens if one does not succeed. In fact, where we played, they have cameras in all the rooms so if anything happens, we can wave to it. Also, after our expired time, someone came and met us where we were, and explained how to finish the last puzzles, which we did, and the door opened to let us out. I guess it is good to know, in case someone is a little claustrophobic!
