Thank you!!
Yes, we are full-timers but settled in Comfort TX and love it…and yes, I did use the kaleidoscope and was pleased with the results —- I don’t like things to be too busy and getting the color to not overpower the photo was challenging….heading to do today’s lesson….thanks again!

February 24, 2022 at 12:02 pm #72390I’m way behind. However, I finished up the Quick Page Workshop, placed all the goodies in the correct folders, and am now ready for the Mask Workshop. Plan to take my time, sorry, but there is so much you have given us, Carole, that I will have to look at utilizing those goodies. Anyway, I have finished the 1st project and am posting it. These are pictures taken on the trip my daughter and I took in 2016 – these were taken at a rest stop in Pennsylvania as we worked our way up north to Niagra Falls. A beautiful day with a beautiful view. The font is Script MT Bold. The background is the golden gradient which I modified (did not save as I didn’t want to destroy the original) and then changed the opacity. I wasn’t happy with the “greyed” masks and so I changed them to completely white so that the colors would show through. This was an interesting refresher course in using masks with a psd template. The instructions were really clear this time. Thanks.
On another note: WOW everyone’s take on the workshop is really great!February 24, 2022 at 12:21 pm #72392Playing with Carole’s tutorial on the Reflection Effects-Kaleidoscope
February 24, 2022 at 12:25 pm #72394Hello,
It has been awhile since I last posted anything. Once in awhile I go here to see the creations. I have been looking at old family pics. Our oldest turned 60 in December. I am surprised how good some of these pics look after working on them for awhile. They start as tiny slides. Steve, our youngest, was born in 1973. I am not totally satisfied with it, perhaps I will go back later to make improvements, like adding some elements.

February 24, 2022 at 12:45 pm #72396And this is the extra 1 – same background and font.
February 24, 2022 at 1:23 pm #72398Day 3 I got sidetracked playing with the kaliedoscope feature. (again).
February 24, 2022 at 2:41 pm #72402Lesson 4
Decided to make a slightly whimsical image of the bird twitchers apparently peering through larger than life reeds. (Screen Layer effect set at 85%). I took these photos at the bird sanctuary and used the watercolour brushes Carole kindly gave us to model the mask and to create a blurred background to set off the body text.
February 24, 2022 at 2:53 pm #72404I’m so sorry that I can’t attend the workshop. I’m so busy at work and every day lasts longer at work.
But I’ll post my creation when I have enough time.
I’m really sorry.
February 24, 2022 at 3:15 pm #72406Day 4 Mask Project. We’re trying to sell our home, so that’s the theme of this one…

February 24, 2022 at 3:19 pm #72408We don’t get much snow here, so it’s always a special occasion. My neighbor and her senior dog, Beauty, take three walks a day around the neighborhood, without fail. Beauty always walks on her companion’s left side.
February 24, 2022 at 3:34 pm #72410I am enjoying this workshop. If I don’t use the tools often I forget quickly. I forgot about masking with the mask layer, that would have saved me lots of time on my day 3 project. I love the watercolour brushes, thanks for the resourses. I used a purchased kit from Jumpstart Designs Feeling Festive.
February 24, 2022 at 3:47 pm #72413Here’s Masks-Day4 – Pileated Woodpecker. I was lucky enough to have a pair in my yard at my last home in the countryside before moving to the city. They were noisy and made a BIG mess of a large tree stump! They are beauties, though, the largest of all our woodpeckers and I’m convinced the model for the cartoon, Woody Woodpecker. 😀
Also, sorry, Carole, I got ahead of myself when I found my directions to make linoleum 😉
The title font is Magneto. I made my own mask using one of the watercolor brushes.

February 24, 2022 at 3:49 pm #72401here is day 4 i had a little trouble with one as my jasc 9 was not being nice about the brush varience F11. it only shows this
so i will have to play with this more but i do love learning how to make my own masks.. this photo is of my 2 fur babies father and daughter. very rear that they will cuddle in the same bed. lulus is only 3 pounds but acts more like a Rottweiler and no one gets in the front door without a barking session.
<p style=”text-align: center;”></p>February 24, 2022 at 3:52 pm #72418Day 4. Blister beetles, in this particular category, the Epicauta species, I have shots of all three, the grey, tan and the black. The grey colour is my favourite. I adore the black beetle image, the expression on it’s awesome face, as it appears to be looking at me is absolutely priceless, and melts my heart.
I have an array of watercolour brushes, to create this mask, I used a watercolour splash brush. Macro photography.
We should all learn to love all insects, not just the beautiful ones, like the butterfly. They all provide an essential service on this planet. They deserve our respect, and are most certainly worthy of a second closer look.
February 24, 2022 at 4:19 pm #72420Day 4 I went with a nature scene for this one too. Red Winged Blackbirds from last year. It isn’t unusual seeing the males in the trees singing their hearts out, but it is rare to see the female that close. If I remember right, I think there was a fledgling in the bushes under that tree, and they were not happy with me being so close. I did put the camera away and left them in peace.
February 24, 2022 at 4:24 pm #72422I have been trying to make my own masks for a while, but I could never get the edges to fade out. The tutorial showed me how this can be done. Thanks. Here is my pic. I did do a plaid again, and made it into borders, and used elements from Marisa Lerin’s Kenya collection.
February 24, 2022 at 4:40 pm #72424Well!!!! I did it and I actually did lesson 2 mixed in with it so there is a plaid…I WAS using 2022 but it froze, shut down and then REFUSED to resize the 1 pixel so I could do the plaid…..I am so thankful I have 2021, so I did the class in 2021 PSP! But, it is maddening that PSP 2022 is so touchy, it shuts down often, so often I don’t recommend it anymore…2021 is best.
Loved this class and making my own mask!!!!

February 24, 2022 at 4:52 pm #72429Day 3, mask and caleidoscope background
February 24, 2022 at 4:55 pm #72431I’m a bit behind as I have a busy week, but will try and catch up.
This one is one of my sisters and myself having fun in my aunts garden.
All our pretty dresses we wore as kids were made by my mother
We all had matching outfits and on one occasion my mother had the same too!February 24, 2022 at 5:32 pm #72440Wow! You all are doing great!
This is the last of project 1 – the extra 1b.
The picture was taken in 2008 at a seminary in Louisiana. The font is Klemiskey with inner bevel; the doily is mine; the paint brush stroke in the background is from Creative Fabrica; all the paint brush strokes originally on the layout were painted and have reduced opacity.
February 24, 2022 at 5:33 pm #72442Day 4 mask making. I can see I need more practice. This is a valuable technique. The photo is mine the font is Gills Sans Ultra Bold and the quote is Gills Sans something-or-other-skinnier-version. Back ground I think came from the photo and I added a texture again. It’s small and might not show up. This time I did it right. However, I never unchecked add textures and I was getting textures everywhere. Textures in places textures shouldn’t be.
Sue, amazing the defenses of insects. My cat ate a ladybug once, and paid for it with a foaming mouth, a trip to the vet and an antihistamine shot. we didn’t know at the time it was from that until later years when another cat ate one, which we saw. On a side note: Do you know what kind of spider this is. it was night, outside on my driveway in Chilliwack, BC October 17, 2011. I love snakes and rodents but don’t do so well with insects, beetles are okay though. This one creeps me out.
Hope it’s okay to have posted it. I could have done mask page with it but I can’t bear to look at it for that long.

February 24, 2022 at 5:39 pm #72445sorry, another thing I forgot to add. I filled the ‘siblings’ title with the fur from the raccoon. the quote is cute and yet funny for me to use since all 4 siblings in my family are adopted. ?
February 24, 2022 at 5:48 pm #72447Lesson 4 took me forever because I realized I didn’t have any custom brushes, so I went down that rabbit hole for a while. I decided to try another plaid for the background – they’re growing on me!
February 24, 2022 at 6:50 pm #72451Day 4 and another tree. I needed anupdate on making your own mask from scratch and now I know why that didn’t go well for me after the Love Story Challenge. I had taken notes and there was a mistake in those notes so it didn’t work. But hurray, now I’m okay. I don’t like that you cann’t see where the edges of the photo are when you make the mask. So I place guides around my photo and have a better idea where to brush! Carole is this a known trick that I rediscovered for myself? I copied the mask, merged the group and turned it into a rasterlayer. Selected it with the magic wand and gave it a light feather so the outside is a bit “softer”. I tried a blur first, but like the feathering better.
February 24, 2022 at 6:53 pm #72453Mask extra 3
Corrie, I stole your idea about the lines in the mask. You really couldn’t see those lines were there otherwise. Thanks for the idea. For the background I took a piece of white with shadows from the windmill and then effects, kaleidoscope.
February 24, 2022 at 7:05 pm #72458I wasn’t sure I wanted to do this lesson but I dove in anyway…had a blast. Thank you, Carole!
I’ve been wanting to scrap these 2 photos a long time…they’re from 2011. I never got to meet Pat Summitt. This photo was taken during the game…probably with a 200mm lens. She was an amazing woman!
February 24, 2022 at 7:07 pm #72460Same game as above. I love the fact I caught the shooter and the boy behind her! The font for “Three” was a give away from Creative Fabrica today…what luck, huh?
