Hi carole can you help me please.  I have just made a layered pattern with several layers, how can I lock them from moving out of alignment does the lock do that, I know the lock isolates a layer, but does it stop it moving,   or is there another way to do that . thank you in antisipation of your answer.

You can link layers together so they don’t “disalign” but it won’t prevent them from moving as a group. If you are looking at a way to prevent any layer from moving, that is not possible, but if you want to link all the layers so that they all stay align together, that you can do:

        • select all the layers you want to link, holding the Ctrl key to select them one by one
        • click on the link icon just above the Layers palette

        That should do it.

Thank you for getting back to me .  If I link them will I be able to recolour individually.
I know in the text you can drop with the arrow so each word is in its own space and be able to manipulate them separately , can I do this.

Can I link and unlink at will. so I can move it around as a whole and saving it would I need to unlink it first.

Yes, you can link and unlink at will.

No, you don’t need to unlink to save. In fact, if the layers are linked when you save them, they will stay linked when you reopen the file.

And yes, you can still recolor layers individually even if they are linked.
