The SONG challenge will encourage you to use either a title of a song, a phrase or any part of the lyrics from a song from the artist/group mentioned, however, for December, let’s just use Christmas songs. I am sure that almost any Christmas project can be embellished with some traditional songs as a title!
Are you up to the challenge?
December 5, 2020 at 2:26 pm #50124My daily entry for the Advent Calendar is titled: “Joy to the World”.. one of my favorite Christmas carols.
Edit: I replaced the image with one where I used a lighter and brighter background. The original looked too dark.
December 5, 2020 at 11:43 pm #50138Hi Scrapbook Campers. My contribution to the Christmas Song challenge is The Little Drummer Boy. The delightful photo is a freebie from Freepix and I think he is just too cute. The background paper is another using Carole’s cross tutorial as are the grosgrain ribbons. All tubes are from my (extensive) collection, jen vrouw, jhanna, jdd and netclipart. Fonts used are Bradley Hand ITC and Carmencita. The glittery overlay was also made following a tut by Cassel. Thanks for takin a peek my friends. ;D
December 6, 2020 at 9:30 am #50143Well, Annie, I also did the Little Drummer Boy for my Song Challenge and for Advent Day 6, though it looks a lot different from yours, which is charming!
I found some of the fonts I was looking for. The curlicues on the corners are Nymphette from DeFont and treated to an inner bevel. The drummer boy art is from a Google search as is the sheet music. I keep using the same border frame for my Advent Days.. keeps the look consistent for me though I do change up the color.
December 7, 2020 at 6:30 am #50192Here is my next entry in the December SONG Challenge – Christmas. I used Winter Wonderland as the song and a photo of snowy trees that I got from the Facebook site, Hudson Valley in Pictures where the postings marked as free to use. It’s also my Advent Day 7 entry.
I played around with the photo, using it as a pattern in the border and as a layer with reduced opacity over the layer with the two deer, which are elements from the AHA-Hygge kit. The font for the song title is Snap and the number 7 is Stencil.
December 7, 2020 at 6:48 pm #50204Ann I love your Little Drummer Boy page, it is very cute. The corners worked out very nicely. Your day 7 portrays exactly what your winters deliver and I think you have done very well with the opacity change ups. You have kept it simple and it is eye catching. You are progressing nicely my friend. Thanks also for your compliment on my page, always appreciated. ;D
December 8, 2020 at 5:45 am #50231For a rock ‘n roll Christmas, here’s Chuck Berry with “Run Rudolph Run” for the Song Challenge+Day 8 of my Advent Calendar. The corners are from the Christmas tube, the Chuck Berry art is from the VEVO illustration for the video of the music, the lower blue part is from a paper that reminded me of shots of Earth from outer space. The font for the big number 8 is called Square721 and the flare on the upper right is a tube.
December 8, 2020 at 4:52 pm #50249Finally I have something to show for the Christmas Song Challenge. Because I’m late making my holidaycards I made a card that I can print as a double card. Here I’m only showing the front, as the backside is mostly white with only my logo on it. The song I thought of at once is “Silver Bells” . This one is a old one and performed by many singers in many different settings/films. Now I have to print and post my cards, luckely most are here inland. The ones that had to go to the States are posted weeks ago and then you have to hope they arrive in time!
December 8, 2020 at 8:05 pm #50254A delightful Christmas card Corrie. Simplicity at it’s very best and so very reflective of a colder climate. Well done my friend. ;D
December 9, 2020 at 2:18 pm #50274Oh Holy Night. The original angels and star and background paper all came from Pixel Scrappers.
December 9, 2020 at 4:19 pm #50275Annie, thank you. Our climate in the Netherlands is very moderate with once in a while some snow but mostly windy and rainy in winter. When I was young it was colder than now with the climate change. In those days we had natural ice and could go skating on inundated land, canals, lakes. Now you have to go to an icerink! But every year comes the question will we get a white christmas? The answer tends to be no!
December 9, 2020 at 5:50 pm #50277Here’s my latest Christmas Song Challenge/Advent Day 9. The photo of the glorious pipe organ and the sheet music I found via Google along with the story of how the hymn came about. The font for the number 9 is just Bodoni.
December 9, 2020 at 9:34 pm #50287Lovely Anne and those little angels are way cute, well done. 😉
December 10, 2020 at 3:57 am #50290Corrie you are most welcome. We are the same here in Bundaberg as far as climate change goes. When I was a child in winter we would have a blanket of frost over the grass in our yard and we used to run out barefoot to crunch it up. No such thing happens now, shame … but that is the way of it and we just have to go with what the planet is offering. 😉
December 10, 2020 at 12:34 pm #50292Advent Day 10 with the Song Challenge: “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” from the film: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Just graphics from a Google search. Still working on getting my new fancy fonts working. I now do have NexusFont so I need to figure it out.
December 11, 2020 at 5:20 pm #50304December SONG Challenge – Christmas + Advent: Day 11
I love Angela Lansbury, she’s in her 90s now, and she was terrific on Broadway in Mame, where she sang the song “We Need A Little Christmas” (I added the Santa hat) 😉December 12, 2020 at 1:05 am #50313This is the year to stay home for the holidays ..as the old song goes. There is no place like home for the holidays no matter how far away you go.
I used pieces of two Christmas kits
1) Country Christmas-DiHiller December 2019
2) Merry Little Christmas -Eyeinspire
Photos of my house last year.
December 12, 2020 at 1:24 pm #50330December SONG Challenge – Christmas + Advent: Day 12
“Angels We Have Heard On High”
I started playing with garland since I now have a brush for it. You can do a lot with it!
December 13, 2020 at 1:08 am #50354Dorothy job well done on this page my friend. You obviously love the season as your home is decorated beautifully. All up it is a fun page. 😉
December 13, 2020 at 1:38 am #50355Lovely Ann. I do agree with you that the garland brush lends itself to many uses. Well done my friend. 😉
December 13, 2020 at 1:57 am #50357Hello Scrapbook Camper Friends. This is another for the Christmas song theme. Of all the songs my very favourite is Jingle Bell Rock … probably because it has such a fun foot tapping quality to it. The rocking Santa, pendulum clock, dancing elves are all freebies off the web. The one horse sleigh I tubed myself and the title alpha I created myself. The background paper and sticker I also made and the unexceptional but prolific wordart was also a time consuming work of mine … I think I got most of the words of the song captured! The snowflakes are a picture tube I created from cass-HolidayCharms-Snowflake 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,and 6. The other elements are out of my Christmas collection. Thanks for takin a peek. ;D
December 13, 2020 at 4:40 am #50360Annie: Oh, my goodness, your Jingle Bell Rock is delightful!! 😀 I’m like you with that song. It’s got my feet tapping already! 😉 Well done!!
December 13, 2020 at 4:23 pm #50370Annie, you had a lot of work to do on this delightful LO! We are all so far apart from each other and we all know the same songs; it’s a small world after all and somehow connected.
December 13, 2020 at 6:41 pm #50387Ann you are very sweet, thank you my friend. It was a bit of silliness but I persevered and was happy enough with the end result.
December 13, 2020 at 6:44 pm #50388Thanks dear Corrie … and you are right, it is a small world after all. It should be a wonderful one once we get rid of boundaries, fences etcetera … but let me not get on my high horse, lol! ;D
December 14, 2020 at 2:21 pm #50442Christmas Song + Advent – Day 14
The art is a Dutch Christmas card from Pinterest. The scraps are from Pixelscrappers and the glitter on the sides is a Picture Tube.
December 14, 2020 at 9:42 pm #50448Very cute Ann, I love it my friend. 😉
December 17, 2020 at 2:14 pm #50533Here’s December Song Challenge – Christmas / Advent Day 17. The photos are of my previous hometown for 40 years, Warwick, NY, showing off it’s Revolutionary War Heritage buildings. (It was designated the Queen’s Village since they supported King George during the Revolution.)
I tried out my new Corel script: Falling Snow. Learned a lesson, don’t use it on a .pspimage with layers. It promptly flattened the whole image! I ended up making a .png for publication and adding the snow to that.December 17, 2020 at 7:30 pm #50538Truly delightful Ann, and thanks for the tip regards the snow script! ;D
December 23, 2020 at 1:59 pm #50785Finally had to do another Song Challenge, tomorrow is Christmas Eve so here’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as my Advent, Day 24.
The Santa is an AWS Here Comes Santa Script, the photo was on the Hudson Valley in Pictures site, posted by Jennifer O’Shea, and the holiday decor is from Corel’s Christmas Clip-Art freebies.
What’s in store for January, Carole Cassel? 😉
