Here is a challenge to do something that might not be repeated in other months. Just an idea that popped like that (and you can also send me suggestions for occasional random challenges too).
This week, the challenge is all about using TWO Complementary colors from the Color wheel. Complementary colors are two colors that are exactly at the opposite of each other on the color wheel. Although they are opposite, they are meant to complement each other. Here are some examples:
How can you feature two complementary colors in a project? You can use two colors to create a title, to make double frames, to colorize various flowers to make a cluster, etc. Try to focus your project on two main colors.
So, what will you create?
December 10, 2022 at 11:13 pm #88197I created this. I drew a line, without the arrows on the ends, to the colours I used on the wheel. I used 3 scripts. The rest I did myself. Knot 3 script, custom brad script and crotchet lace script.
December 11, 2022 at 11:56 am #88224Here’s my entry for the December Random Challenge using the Corel freebie template – My Favorite Gifts. The font was part of the layout, so I don’t know the name. I’m including Carole’s color wheel. The family photo is from the year 2000 showcasing us and our nine grands. I added several overlays to its plain background.

December 11, 2022 at 5:51 pm #88236I can’t say I am crazy about this but thought I would post it anyway. The original pic is from Cotton-Candy-Clouds-Digital-Papers-43091602 #3. I used the red and green colors to replace the originals, then added the tiles.
December 12, 2022 at 3:52 pm #88367This is my second page for this challenge.
As always, I’ve used my own photos. Used one of my own envelopes and note paper. I lifted the label, and created a mask. A simple no fuss page. The one colour which determined my choice of colours, was taken from the clump of mustardy leaves at the top of the trees.
December 12, 2022 at 7:48 pm #88376For those that may be interested, here is the note. It isn’t very legible on the main page, due to the page being dramatically reduced in size.
December 12, 2022 at 10:30 pm #88383Used for a title effect the colors Blue & Orange
Copied the layer with the text. Changed in one layer the color.
Used the Eraser tool.

December 13, 2022 at 6:01 am #88395Did this last summer, but I don’t remember if I shared it in the forum.
December 13, 2022 at 7:36 am #88397Michele: Those colors and the layout are outstanding! Did you have to hunt for the photos or did you re-color some? They look like they were all “dipped in the same vat!” 😉

December 13, 2022 at 10:07 am #88401Thanks, Ann. I hunted. And Hunted. I also have a lot of pics that I’ve been saving over the years. Then I adjusted each of them.
December 13, 2022 at 10:08 am #88402The complementary colors I used are blue and orange
This is the template from Lab 12-12
Carole’s cass-GhostDate script for the date, it is the date I took the photo’s
For the two lower papers I used the photos with a ghaussion blurDecember 13, 2022 at 10:12 am #88403Chris, nice idea the way you applied the two colors in the text.
December 13, 2022 at 10:12 am #88404Is that your dog, Marie-Claire? She’s gorgeous!
December 13, 2022 at 11:47 am #88406I got absolutely nothing else done today because I made myself do a “real” scrapbook page for a change. The inspiration was a template from the ALFLT August 2022 Blog Train by Ginger Scraps. The mandarin duck is a gorgeous bird and, no, I did not take the pics. I used the Cass-RibbonFactoryC script and the Cass-RibbonFlower script. I’m going to try to devote more time to scrapbooking and less to playing games; I blame my OCD. I got a real sense of accomplishment (after the frustration) when this was done! The journaling font is Give You Glory, free from Google Fonts.
Any suggestions on how to improve this are totally welcome and appreciated.
December 13, 2022 at 12:23 pm #88408Michele, yes that is my dog, his name is Poncho, march 2023 his going to be 7 years old.
I like the colors in your project and the ribbon. I did’n know there is also a ribbonFlower script. And yes the mandarin duck is a gorgeous bird, so beautiful colors!
December 13, 2022 at 12:29 pm #88409Sue, your flowers already remind me of summer.

December 13, 2022 at 5:32 pm #88421I’m also going for orange and blue! A couple of weeks ago the sun went down with a fantastic spectacle of orange colors and I was just in time to take a few photos from our upstairs window before the colors faded. It only lasted for a few minutes! I used my photo for the background with a blur and a duplicate with a mask to let the colors pop, made a frame with a radial blur script I once found somewhere and the font is JT Fire One from Creative Fabrica which I have for some time and this is the opportunity to use it.
