J = Jumping horse (various breeds)
K = Konik horse, a wild horse from Poland about 130-140 cm stick height. In the Netherlands they live nowadays in some nature reserves where they can look after themselves without interference. They are doing well but there are to many of them for our little reserves and some are transported back to the eastern countries in Europe. Besides that some have been shot!
L = Leg Up: Method of mounting in which an assistant stands behind the rider and supports the lower part of his left leg and giving a boost as necessary as the rider springs up off the ground.
O = Oberlander
N = Native Ponies: Another name for the Mountain and Moorland breeds of the UK – i.e. New Forest, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Highland, Fell, Dale, Shetland, Connemara and Welsh.
U = Unsoundness: Term used to describe any condition, or conformation fault that limit the horse’s ability to perform his job. Including sidebone, ringbone, roaring and others.
W – Weanling A horse less than a year old that has been weaned from it’s mother.
X = If you do dressage X is in the middle of the dressage arena, where you start and end your dressage test. Sort of like X marks the spot.
Y = Yorkshire Coach Horse, I knew from years of looking to the BBC and from traveling around Yorkshire there was a kind of horse mentioned. I did a google search and yes there is: this one.
B – Bucking This is not a good thing except at a Rodeo. My horse put me in the hospital with a broken pelvis when he decided to try out for the rodeo circuit.
