Trish, nice to see your work posted here again, and this layout is lovely. I cannot agree more about the “best and most beautiful things in the world.”
Trish: that’s a beautiful layout. They’re predicting a little snow here today so maybe it will start to look like that around here too!
Finished my Scavenger Hunt yesterday so even though it was instituted in November I think it also qualifies as a December project now!
These little plants are my newest hobby; anything to keep me busy when it’s cold outside and, health-wise, a good idea to stay home as much as possible.
My layout theme is ORCHIDS and I’ve collected 5 of them, re-potted them all (even while blooming!) so we’ll see how they settle in.
The scavenger hunt asked for 1) a paperclip, which I created from Cassel’s tutorial; 2) a torn edge, which I also used the tutorial but am not that happy with the results; 3) scallops, I used Cassel’s script so that was easy; 4 & 5) a metallic object and a button, covered by my 1 for 2- a metallic button from my stash. I used the Impact font for the heading and filled it with a swatch I made from the flowers in the photo and backed it up with a white duplicate shifted over a bit to add depth. The trees are tubes and the papers and frame from random kits. The journaling paper is from Cassel’s burnt edges offering.

EDIT: Totally re-did the snowman. Forgot to do shadows on the accessories and once I started over I had to make changes! lol

Like Lynda I had a play around with the cross pattern tut from Lab 10 Module 10. It really is a fun thing to do and the possibilities are endless. I have created several patterns but I only used one to demonstrate the blend modes in the materials palette. So the same colour was used for the pattern and a lighter shade for the background, then came the blend mode change up, merge visible and a Filters Unlimited texture was applied. I could play like this all day long, lol! Thanks for takin a peek. ;D
These are not full sized pages, but small, simple daily eadvent calendar.
Using all my own photos, the recipients of these daily eadvent, really enjoy them. Again a simple layout, with a frame , and a few words. A photo I took the other day out in our trees.
The Grackle is one of my favourites bird. They left quite a while ago for warmer climes. The background was a little busy, for what I wanted to create. I extracted him using a mask. Replaced it with a paper I created using browns, matching the gold elements. Font snowflakes, Cassel’s corner punch brush
Sue: I really like your Advent pages. I have bird shots with very busy backgrounds so I guess I have to work on doing masks like your #3. Here’s a look at my woodpecker’s original shot.
What size canvas do you use?
Ann, the only reason I use a mask sometimes, is because I can save it and go back to it to finish it. Once you erase, you can’t do that. My photos still have depth of field, unlike yours.
Sue, can you tell me what size canvas you’re using for the Advent Days? You said it was smaller…
Still on Lab 10-10 Made the grossgrain ribbon but couldn’t leave well enough alone. Used Carole’s BigBow script which created Big Bow overload. 🙂
I finally finished (I HOPE) my first project in the Basic Scrapbook Course. I had a few bumps along the way but they were mostly due to having the wrong settings selected for some of the tools. I was just about to call for help when I thought to check that.
I made the mushrooms from Lab 10-10 but I’m not thrilled. Didn’t like them flat so I put a little inner bevel and a shadow on them.
Some very lovely pages submitted. Lynda, you have been a busy girl. You have lots of elements to use in your pages. So get cracking! 🙂

Advent day 4. Come on ladies and gentlemen! I’ve included a photo of a female Snowy Owl for you to download and use. The beauty of creating an advent is that it’s minimalistic, doesn’t need any embellishment, unless you want to add some, you are the creator.
Okay Sue, you have inspired me. I will attempt today to catch up on the Advent calendar. All your projects are lovely and I especially love your subway art tree … clever lassie! Thanks for the Snowy Owl, it is beautiful and I will do something with it for sure. You are a gem! ;D

While making my Mom’s stuffing recipe for Thanksgiving, I was inspired. I created this tribute page for her and then it occurred to me …. Im going to scan all the recipes my Mom sent me and create a cookbook for my siblings. I’ll start that after the holidays and aim for it to be a Christmas gift next year.

Sue, Subway Art Tree..what a great idea. That would make a great Christmas card. As far as my Labs…love making them, never know what to do with them.

Working on Advent layouts and Snowmen in December.. here’s Day 4
I wanted to follow along with this advent adventure so I decided to do day 1 using the beautiful snowy owl photo Sue had so generously provided … thanks very much my friend. All created by myself following Carole’s tuts and using a few of her scripts except for the leaves which were courtesy of Graph-SabineDesign. Thanks for takin a peek. ;D
