  1. Hi Everyone! Here's my take on Carole's Friendship page. I turned it into A Family Affair for some Bluebird photos I got from a friend. I admire his photo skills. So, this layout includes:

Three bluebird photos from the Facebook group: The Hudson Valley in Pictures, photos by Ed Frampton of Poughkeepsie

The font for all text is Harrington

The flower is from the kit: All That's Fall

The swirl is from the kit: Somewhere in Time

The pale background paper is from the kit: ALA-Hygge

I made the blue paper by choosing a color from one of the bluebirds

I have a folder with many glitter files; this one was the palest and then I used the color changer to replace any dark gray flecks with the blue of the paper.

The flying birds are from a kit: It's Beachy

The tree is from Corel's Winter Clip-art collection

The blue and white paper was in my folder with no label. When I went to use it, it turned out to be on a transparent background, like an overlay, so I added a layer underneath and flood-filled it with white.

    Thanks for any feedback!

(Ed said he tagged the center photo: "Bluebirds discussing the housing shortage") :-)

Edit: I discovered that scaling down to 600 px from 3600 tends to make the small vector text break up so I went back and duplicated the vector layer and chose "convert to raster" on that layer in my .pspimage file. I made a new 600 px version for here. You can now read the text at the bottom.

Edit2: I found I disliked the golden swirl under the top left flower so I found the matching leaves from the same kit and now feel much better about it.

  2. From one of my current Bootcamp assignments: The photo shows the pink sky before dawn after a snowfall back in January through the top of my little wild cherry tree just outside my kitchen window. I use my iPhone Xs at 10x enlargement. No depth of field with it except in Portrait mode. The trees, branch and the bird are from Corel's Winter Clip-Art kit. I flood filled the darker papers to match the trees. I found that neat font for the small text on the right and under the Tufted Titmouse. It's called Harrington.
  3. Cassel/Carole: Yes, I had posted the first project "New Dane in Town" on message #51526 (I went back and looked) but I'll post it again here along with a second  layout for Adventure #2, which I call "Pink Sky Before Dawn." In this one I used another photo out my kitchen window. The pink sky is natural, my iPhone doesn't do depth of field unless it's a portrait. About the only thing not changed from "After the Snowfall" was the photo frame as I couldn't find one that was better. The elements are all from Corel's Winter Clipart collection (including the bird and branch!) and a snowflake scatter from one of my Iceland kits. The papers are from my VAST collection of papers! ;-)

Edit: And here's a revised version of Adventure #1- "After the Snowfall" with the shadow much heavier on the pine cone. You're right; I like it better myself!

  4. Leslie: Your woodpecker layout is awesome! Everything coordinates nicely with your theme. Good job!

Clarine: I love your photo and your color scheme. I think if I was that stuck I would click on the Need help? tab on the right side of each page, knowing Carole/Cassel would email me privately and get me out of any mess. Try it!

Lynn: Your swan layout looks great! I just found Unsplash myself so I'll have to try some of their photos.

Julia: I like the colors used in your second layout and your photo is beautiful; to me that's creativity! Keep practicing, things will jell better for you as you try more layouts. Your first layout turned out really well - love that rosy paper background!

Amparo: Welcome! Hoping to see your work soon!

Jacques: Your embellishments always make me chuckle! :-)

Cindy: Pinks and blues.. your layout is very sweet.

AnnieT: What can I say.. very interesting how you used your background paper as a pattern to fill your headline text. That's a technique I should use more often! Thanks! ;-)

And last but not least, here's a joke I got from a friend in Sweden that I can't stop laughing at, hoping it brightens your day too:

  5. Here's my second project, a photo out my kitchen window after a heavy snowfall in early January. I got lucky and picked up a mega kit entitled Iceland so I have lots of snow stuff to use, especially the papers, the photo frame and the pine cone. The trees are from the Corel winter clipart package. As usual, I doubled up on the title, shifting the lower white layer to the left so it looked a little snowy and I did add a drop shadow.
  6. Inspired by Jacques, I made my layout for the new dog in our family, my daughter's Great Dane Lola II. Laurey's previous dog, a Caucasian Shepherd/Rottweiler mix was also named Lola but this new dog is already 6 years old and had been called Lola in her previous home. She is warming up nicely to her new family and loves her stuffed Lamb Chop toy from Romper Room fame. (It squeaks!) Lola is tall enough to place her jaw on the table or kitchen counter! In the photo, Lola has a dog toy that is an ear of corn complete with corn-silk which you can see dangling from her jaw.

I had to hunt down dog related elements to decorate the page and everything SAID it was a transparent .png but wasn't so I've been busy with my background eraser on the paw print, the bone and Lambchop. The large text doesn't have a shadow, it is just doubled up in the dark red and tilted a bit to look like it has some depth. The photo of Lola has a frame supplied by PSP.

  7. Lynne: Another realistic sandwich with real ingredients! Are you working with Connie? ;-) The napkin is beautiful with the scallops and the fold. It doesn't look like this is your first Bootcamp. Welcome to the Repeaters Club; I know Cindy has done this before and maybe Connie??
  8. Connie: Very nice sandwich! The ingredients all look very realistic, even the bread!

Jacques: Breakfast in Bonaire sounds like a dream! ;-) My only complaint with your egg dish is I would not want pickles on top! lol

Clarine: Nice job! I see  you finally found your workspace. ;-)

Cindy: Are you following me? ;-) Good to see you here. I burst out laughing to see that every ingredient in the sandwich has a drop shadow. :-D And using ping-pong balls as marshmallows in your hot chocolate is brilliant! Your tablecloth really looks like cloth with embroidery. Very nice! Is that a paper? And you added a napkin! I forgot.. maybe next time. ;-)

  9. I've been playing with the sandwich and table setting layers project all day. I've already done it twice already and enjoyed tweaking it again using techniques I've picked up since my first two Bootcamps. I am going to post all three versions so you can see the progress. #1 has the blue tablecloth, #2 has the red check with the whole wheat bread, etc. the my newest one, #3, has a blue and white tablecloth, swirly coffee, the plates now have red edges, the flower has changed along with the flower dish color, I tried to get the cut sandwich to look more realistic and added toothpicks and I still like my pickles on the side! The tablecloths are all patterns using the flood fill tool; the coffee came from a photo; I used the Magic Wand to select the edges of the dishes and fill with color with the flood fill tool. The flower was from my stash of elements from various kits I've found, mostly freebies. The toothpicks are from a brush Carole had us make for Christmas garlands and the size, color and angle can be controlled on the brush palette.
  10. I've discovered a new [for me] function of my Windows 10: If I highlight some text here in the Forum and right click I can choose "Translate to English" and the text magically transforms, and stays that way! I could read Annie's post that way and I suspect I'll do it with Jnet, too, when she posts in French. ;-)
  11. I'm here.. (again) lol

    Hi Cindy!

Welcome, Anthony! Learning this program is fun and satisfying. This is my THIRD go round with Bootcamp. I just like the structure of assignments to keep me creating. There's also the How To page, for complete newcomers: Look up top of this page and select Classes/Beginner/Start Here. There's also Classes/Beginner/Basic Scrap Course 1. Carole Cassel has all our bases covered to learn PSP. This Bootcamp is also pretty basic, so stay and learn! Enjoy!
