  1. The final design for the May Bootcamp. Cassel's is titled Concentration but mine is The House Wren. I was delighted when the Audubon Society released all of JJ Audubon's illustration plates to the public for general use. I didn't download all but I got the ones I am familiar with.
  2. Annie: Do those Myna birds talk? Someone had one here that did.

Bootcamp: Just in time for Cassel's Busy Bees class my daughter in Mendocino, California, participated in their annual Bee Bold Mendocino festival. She's in the bottom photo on the far left with her drumming group. She made the mistake of posting all this on Facebook so of course I helped myself to their images. ;-) I created the striped paper from a selection from the small purple Bee Bold Alliance logo on the right. The title fonts are Aviation Cocktail Aged and Broadway.

  3. When I was a teenager I had a few garter snakes in aquarium tanks in the basement of our two-family and my boyfriend/fiancé/soon-to-be husband was much impressed that his girl was a snake lover. He was big on wildlife and such, himself. My first job was at a newspaper and I was asked to write a column for the Outdoors so my debut was "Snake Lovers Anonymous!" I was surprised how many people responded. I think it was a secret society! :-D
  4. Cindy:  That duckling is so cute. Your colors work well with the blue sky and puffy cloud background. Nicely done, my friend.

Joe: Of the 3, I like the Florida Flora. All 3 are very well done and pleasing but that one is my favorite.

Christina: Your food designs are awesome! Of course they make me head to the kitchen, especially that Berry Pavlova.

  5. Here’s my take on the Friendship project:  Bootcamp Day7 - The background is a black and white photo of the dandelion seedhead. I created the pattern for the striped paper with a selection from all 3 photos. (I also went ahead and made a plaid, which I also have posted for your downloading pleasure ;-) ) The bees on the flowers are stamps so they don’t have much depth.

  7. Here is Day 5, the Adventure project. I did an homage to our farming area, the Black Dirt of Pine Island, NY, where 1/3 of the total of onions for the nation are grown. The literally "black" soil is amazingly fertile, left by a passing glacier as bogs which have been channeled and drained for farming. There are many different vegetables grown and even sod grass but the onions are world class.

The fonts for the title are Farm House Full and Farm House Shadow. I found the onions and the crate on Google image search. The photos show how the weather can change in an instant out on our "flatlands."

  8. Cindy: That looks very nice! I like the way you used a curved photo; it really stands out. You did a fine job filling in the font for the title with all your glitter papers. Way to go!!
  9. Annie: Honestly, your wildlife from Down Under might as well be from some alien planet! ;-) Those coot feet are outrageous! Nicely showcased with footprints and I love your title.. GET A GRIP.. :-D
  10. Christina, that looks so simple and nice. I must be suffering from low vision 'cause I can't find the bow you mentioned. Other than that everything works very well together. Well done!
  11. Cassel, thank  you. I'm laughing because I already had to deal with the "50 layers" option! ;-) So does this create a background paper? Perhaps with a mask for the photo? I'm unsure since I've never had a camera that would create this effect on a photo, though I see them all the time.
  12. I have a question. This week Corel is offering free bokeh picture tubes (green and yellow) but I'm unsure how to handle bokeh. I think it's a background effect for photos but what do I do with these Picture Tubes? I also seem to have a white one already installed, so now I have white, soft green and vibrant yellow. Suggestions appreciated! Thanks.
  13. I have some Mid-Hudson Valley, NY, landscapes to work with; not sure what to do with them yet. Here's an example of our farming district; Pine Island with world-class onions.
