  1. New month, new Big Cat Calendar. For September we have a pair of African Lions. They are the only big cats that live in family groups and the male defends his territory and sires the new generation while a group of females do all the hunting. These calendars are from Cassel's yearly templates. They just need a photo and some color. I have posted a .jpg in the Files section of the Facebook group. It prints out at 8.5" x 11"
  2. August Scraplift Challenge: Playing around with some of my kid’s photos from Chicago plus some from the Chicago travel website, I came up with this for the Scraplift Challenge. I did find a new way to make stripes. I had used a gradient called White Sand for the background paper and I want to use those colors for the striped paper. So, I used the same gradient at a 45-degree angle with 24 repeats. Voilà!

  4. Cassel: No, that was the first King Kong film in 1933. (Yes, they had films that long ago! LOL) He sat through the entire film in a darkened auditorium with his hands over his eyes. Poor Bobby never lived it down!

I'm showing you two movie posters from that year: one that's pretty scary (in French) and the other because they styled it in Art Deco that was all the rage in the 1930s.

  5. Corrie: Best of luck to you! I've only been hiking once or twice, and that when I visited Debbie in California. They have always been big into fitness. For myself now, I have an Under-Desk Elliptical that I'm supposed to use twice a day. (I don't always make it)
  6. I was inspired by Carole's tale of worrying about falling down the bathtub drain and I remembered an incident from my school days. I was always very skinny and was teased about it. So my friends wrote a song about me. They sang it to me in private so at least it wasn't "trending" in my classes! So here's "Annie, Where Are You Going?"

I started with a white background and added Carole's musical paper which I Multiplied. I might add, I initially rotated the template 90 degrees because I wanted a horizontal photo which I found using Google Images. The scalloped paper I treated to Blinds texture. The colors were coming from a palette I chose from PSPs collection called "Monet." For the blue photo mat I used the Effect/Illumination/Lights. The musical décor I already had. The arrow is from Heather T "Love Spoken Here" which I colored using the Monet colors. The font for the journaling and title is Babilonia.

I honestly always thought this incident was quite amusing! :-D

  7. Michele: [Now, don't laugh!] I'm trying out the Hue Up/Down brush and not convinced this is the effect that you are supposed to get. Somehow, the more I clicked, the colors changed but grew exponentially until I had this rainbow effect! Not what I was after. What is the secret?
  8. Monticello Raceway is nearby, just north of us in Sullivan County, NY. All the photos are from a Google search, except for the class photo of Laurey when she was 16 and had finally shed her braces. The title is done with a pair of fonts that you combine the top (USA Nation Stars) and the bottom (USA Nation Line) with patriotic colors.

This story is famous in our family, and I intend to embarrass Laurey with this layout on Sept 14th, which will be her 60th birthday! (This is how to make ME feel old!) ;-)

  9. Story Time Workshop-Day1-Extra: I used the free mini kit offered by Pixelscrappers this week. (marisa-lerin_51798_autumn-art-mini-kit) I decided to use as much of it as possible, so this layout is rather cluttered. Not my usual style! The “story” was actually part of the kit, also.
